I've raved multiple times about the food here and as we're sitting here at the restaurant I wanted to also do a big shoutout to the awesome staff. In particular, Ji Woo! She has the best memory! Thank you Ji Woo for always taking care of us and making us feel so special to be at your awesome sushi restaurant. You not only remember our faces but also what we like to order. Per usual, we had the most amazing rolls including the Alex roll but of course. Pls see my previous review for the breakdown. We also added yellowtail delight and energy and jamming rolls to the mix. Our typical go tos baked crawfish, rainbow, Philadelphia and dragon. Yummmmm the new ones r probably gonna be our regular ones too as they were delicious. I have been coming to Hikari Sushi in Montrose with my family for almost a decade now. The service is always excellent, the restaurant itself is well decorated and always kept clean and maintained. Jin and his staff are always caring and on the spot, and theres always great conversation to be had. That's everything great I have to say before talking about the food. The sushi chef line behind the bar counter is always bringing precise craft and beautiful sushi to the table, literally and rhetorically. The rest of the menu is good too, but if i'm honest I mostly eat the sushi rolls and the sashimi. Thank you for the care Jin and thank you all at Hikari Sushi for a fantastic spot to eat and drink. Service was great; the staff are courteous and efficient. Clean restaurant, nice atmosphere, plenty of parking. The food was tasty enough. I felt like they got carried away with the spicy mayo on my Red Dragon roll. The Washington Roll was my favorite with its delicate application of ponzu sauce. Overall, the fish was fresh. However, the rice was hard on my spicy tuna roll. My kids loved the desserts, which appear to be on consignment. Honestly, I've had better sushi at other establishments and paid less. That won't deter me from coming back if I"m in Montrose and craving sushi. read more

I want to start off by saying this place is LOUD. I asked twice if they could turn down the music. I couldn't hear my friend and we were both annoyed. Secondly, they wouldn't allow my friend to order the kids meal because she wasn't that hungry. Seriously? I would have been OK with it had the food been good but it was clearly old fish!!! The salmon teriyaki had a fishy taste to it and the nigiri tasted old. Do yourself a favor and go to rice and nori up the street - they're EONS better!!!! read more

Hikari Sushi exceeded all expectations! Every piece of sushi and sashimi was incredibly fresh, with rich flavor and beautiful presentation. The premium cuts practically melted in my mouth, and you can tell they use high-quality fish. The miso soup was warm and comforting, the salad was crisp with a delicious dressing, and the spring roll was perfectly crispy. The restaurant was clean and the service was VERY friendly and attentive throughout the meal. If you're looking for fresh, authentic sushi at a great value, Hikari Sushi is definitely worth a visit. All our years in this area.. never knew! My daughter graduated and we wanted a new spot for her fav, sushi. They were able to accommodate our family of 11. We had no idea that they had a special karaoke room!! They offered and we accepted!! The main dining was busy too. What a fantastic and fun room! Ambiance and service was great! Food was even better!! Spicy Shrimp hand roll to their specialty rolls and sushi. Very fresh and very premium tasting. Every sushi you order came with an extra piece of fish. Baked mussels were fresh and full of flavor. This will be our new sushi spot. And most importantly when other places are closed during the afternoon (sushi places are famous for closing during the day a few hours) this place is open. Even the music choice matched the place. I heard great things about this place from friends. So I thought why not try it? Is early evening on a Thursday night and we walk in to a bit of a hectic situation. We waited for about five minutes then we're seated. It took a little bit for the server to come to our table because I believe they're shortstaffed. We're all hungry so I didn't want to wait to order so we just ordered right away. We got an order of salmon sashimi, a few albacore and salmon hand rolls, the Sunkist role, and the cucumber special roll. I have to say that the food came out fairly quick and was delicious. The portion sizes on the food were fairly large compared to other restaurants that I've been to. My Wife said that the baked mussel that we ordered for an appetizer was probably one of the best she's had ever. So you're probably wondering why I docked one star... Well, in the middle of our dinner we heard from afar, on the other side of the restaurant, a man yelling out of frustration that he's doing his best and people need to be patient. The whole restaurant went silent wondering what's going on. I have to say, when I first entered the restaurant, I instantly got the feeling that either their staff was not trained properly for a restaurant, or that they were understaffed. The man yelling later into our dinner was clearly a confirmation of this. Overall, I have to say that the food was delicious. There was literally not one thing that we complained about when he came to the food. The staff was extremely kind and courteous. Service with a smile to the tee. I hope that the existing employees either get proper training, or get additional help, whichever was needed. Regardless of the situation, I would definitely recommend this restaurant. read more

They make you feel welcomed from the moment you walk in. The nigori is always served ice cold and perfect. The kids food is another reason we keep coming back. It does not taste like the microwave style chicken or the low quality beef you get at some sushi places. Everything tastes fresh, cooked properly, and made with real care, which is a huge win when you are dining with kids. If you go, make sure to try the Las Vegas roll. It is warm and creamy with amazing salmon inside and has a crispy rice exterior that makes it next level. We always leave happy. WE GOT FOOD POISONING HERE. I went there with a friend yesterday and not only were we ignored by staff, but they forgot our drinks and when we asked for it, they responded that they were out. Which was so weird that they didn't just tell us that, we had to ask where our stuff was? But the worst part has been the past day and a half puking my brains out. I am not sure what gave us the food poisoning, I'm assuming the stuffed peppers in the appetizer since we shared that item. read more

Cons: I don't really like the layout and seating. Booths look crammed. Decor is outdated. Overall this place could be the best sushi place in town. Just wish that would up the class a bit. Easy to order party platters. Same day! Their ca rolls are a hit for any potluck and they are very generous with the ginger and wasabi. I placed an order that morning and it was ready for me when I asked for it. Parking is easy they have their own private lot. Before we ordered, our sever, Jin, was very engaging asking us how our day was and engaged in conversation with us. Very pleasant. He started us off with Jino's. We ordered the grape, peach, and strawberry flavors. I've never had one before and all three were delicious. It gives off a kind of alcoholic soda beverage taste. We then ordered the spicy salmon roll, Super Mexican Roll, Hot Night Roll and the In and out Shrimp roll. Everything was fresh, spicy but not too spicy and it was cooked perfectly, you could taste the different flavors in each roll. We celebrated my partners birthday in the karaoke room at Hikari and had an amazing time. Jin the owner was extremely nice and welcoming. Our food came in quickly and we had a great time singing for hours. We had 9 people but I space could easier fit more. The sushi rolls were so delicious and the 24 piece sashimi platter was so fresh and slices were nicely sized for the price! The karaoke song list was large and everyone had a ton of fun.
