Came in a few weeks ago with a couple friends. We were greeted by Matt, who also ended up being our server. He guided us through the menu, answering any Q's we had-- the best part was: this dude is hilarious. We had such a great laugh with him! We ordered a bunch so I'll just shout out what I personally got and what stood out to me-- their shishito peppers, Brussels sprouts, use of real crab in the California rolls (!!!), and OH MY GOD-- that raspberry matcha cheesecake dessert. I'm still salivating. Absolutely delicious. This spot has become one of my favorite sushi restaurants and I stop in every time I see my doctor in the area now. Tried it for the first time and I was pleasantly impressed! Everything we ate was well prepared and good. My favorite were the Murakami roll, yellowtail jalapeño sashimi, Spicy Tuna hand roll and soft shell crab. The service was also exceptional and ambiance were exceptional! We were seated at a tiny table for two and the pacing of dishes was infuriating, as pretty much everything came at once and the table was so cramped that it was uncomfortable. Glasses, plates, ice bucket, and then the sushi plates... I hated it. The sushi was good, and it was attractive to look at, but nothing really blew us away. Service was friendly, but she simply wasn't a great server. Final problem as that our Sake was a different price on the check from what was listed in the menu. When I mentioned it, she just said, "oh, we got new menus." I mentioned that wasn't the point and that it wasn't okay. She didn't seem to get it. So, beware of something possibly shady going on. Definitely a top sushi spot in the area. I love this local, family-run place operated by a father and son! The menu is full of fresh, delicious options. While the rice was ever so slightly overcooked and a bit bland in my opinion, the quality and freshness of the fish more than made up for it. Many places have nigiri that tastes the same due to similar ingredients, but not here--each piece had its own distinct flavor. I also appreciated the reservation option; our table was ready the moment we arrived. The interior is relaxing, and the staff is incredibly friendly. Our drinks were always topped off, and the servers made sure we were well taken care of. For a date night out, we chose Cavi Sushi in Glendale, and were NOT disappointed. Not only do they already have a great run of reviews (over 200, for a 4.8 star average at the time of our visit), but they lived up to EVERY expectation. Street parking was...well, street parking. But overall it wasn't at all difficult to find a spot within easy walking distance. And the walk itself takes you past a number of upscale businesses and other places you may just want to come back and visit. I know we will! Cavi Sushi passed "new sushi place test #1" with flying colors. It didn't smell like fish when we walked in. IYKYK. For those who don't know, if you smell fish when you walk in...walk out. We were seated right away (our reservation wasn't at all needed), and the service was polite and prompt. The interior is very well decorated; quite classy. Even the chairs were a step up: cushioned and very comfortable. The menu was straightforward. We selected some nigiri to start with (salmon, salmon belly, unagi, and red snapper), and a couple of rolls. Everything was delivered quickly, and with beautiful presentation. And the flavor...the freshness...OMG. It was perfect. The nigiri were excellent, and the rolls were outstanding. I loved the Atomic roll, and my lady was very happy with her choice: the Yellowtail Serrano roll. Check out the photos! As with most sushi places, the beer selection was slim. Everything went well! So good we have returned and will return again! Our first visit, the restaurant was crowded, and we sat at the sushi bar, which turned out to be the best seats in the house. We had excellent attentive service on both sides of the bar! We tried the sushi chef's special which was excellent, and several other generous portions of delicious sushi. I kept a copy of the receipt so we can remember what to order next time we go, which came in very handy when we were there on our second visit. This time we Chose to sit at the sushi bar in the same two seats. And again we had excellent service and food. I kept that receipt also cause we tried some new things, all delicious. I had the Angie roll, which was pretty good. The food was fresh as you would expect from this place and the presentation was nice, even though I got takeout. The only thing that I personally did not like was the included soy sauce. I am not even sure that it was soy sauce as it was kind of sour and just did not taste right to me. Cavi Sushi in Glendale was a fun dinner stop, especially since it's right near the heart of downtown and perfect for a stroll around the Americana afterward. We tried a few cut rolls, and the yellowtail and salmon stood out as our favorites--super fresh and full of flavor. The fish in general was really fresh, which made a big difference in every bite. Prices are a little on the high side, but the quality mostly justifies it. Service was quick and friendly, which we appreciated on a busy night. The ambiance is cute without being over the top--there's a whole ceiling section covered in hanging flowers that gives it a fun, Instagrammable vibe. It feels modern and stylish but still casual enough to relax in. It wasn't too loud, even when the tables filled up. We parked in the nearby lot that gives 90 minutes free, which made things really easy. Definitely a good spot for a date night or casual meet-up with friends. Went here for late lunch for the first time. They had a very nice menu with lots of verity. Also some interesting lunch packages which we didn't get , but I would like to try them in the future. The service was nice and friendly. They gave us recommendations and made sure everything was to our liking. The place was clean, modern and pleasant. We tried 3 rolls, 2 of which were baked . I am not a big fan of baked sushi but my mom doesn't eat raw so I had no other choice. I liked all the rolls but my most fav was the yellow tail Serrano. It was really fresh and generously stuffed with good quality fish . The baked rolls were a bit heavy on sauces which is not my favorite, but i guess it's personal preference. I suggest they tune it down a bit on the sauce. I will definitely be back to try lots of other items. I wish them best and hope they will maintain their quality. PS: I am not sure if the lobster and the crab were actually real. The crab inside the salmon roll felt like imitation (or maybe half imitation ) but I am not sure honestly. I would like to clarify again as they told me it was real crab. I will give them benefit of the doubt on that. read more

Walking distance from Americana at Brand, Cavi Sushi feels like a hidden gem amongst Glendale's many dining options. Arriving with a group of friends and kids, the staff was immediately accommodating to make sure we were able to sit together by combining two tables - a very nice gesture. We ordered a miso soup, shrimp tempura and beef gyoza for my daughter who loved her food. My wife and I leaned into mostly citrus-themed options by ordering the Tuna Lemon, Salmon Lime and Atomic rolls as well as an Orange Salmon sashimi. All were unbelievably delicious. The best part of the rolls is the balance - the rice isn't overwhelming and the rolls aren't too big so you don't feel like you're eating too much and getting uncomfortably full like you would at many sushi spots. The Orange Salmon sashimi with the pomegranate sauce was a unique flavor that went really well together. Of the four things we ordered, the Salmon Lime was my favorite but I'd recommend them all. To top it off, the chef sent over a complimentary Red Snapper Nigiri. I've never tried red snapper before and let's just say I will now be trying red snapper because this was delicious. I've been meaning to write a review of this place for ages, especially since it's become our go-to date spot since May . We've tried almost everything on the menu and the monthly specials. The only way I can describe the food is by using a scientific approach. We had to figure out if my husband and I were just being too excited about how good it was. Were we exaggerating about the freshness, presentation, and taste of the sushi dishes? We had to find out! Since then, we've tried other sushi restaurants in Glendale, Little Tokyo, and DTLA (based on the number of reviews, of course). And while some of the multi-thousand reviews lived up to the hype, Cavi Sushi is comparable to them in terms of price and taste.
