Updating my review during quarantine! They just reopened for takeout, and my Mom was so excited! She's addicted to the coconut shrimp. This time we also got wings, and I called ahead to order sesame balls. A large Thai tea with boba completed the Saturday night splurge! They are always so friendly, and you get a ton of food. I am super happy to be able to get sesame balls, because I love them and they're not easy to find outside of Convoy in Kearny Mesa. The best thing is that it's family owned. We spent the day in Escondido and munchkin was craving Chinese food. Yes, panda has its certain taste/flavors but I wanted to try a place known to Escondido and this place was one of them. It is located in a huge shopping strip and next to Joanns Fabrics. Plenty of parking available. As we were walking in, someone was walking out empty handed. While we were looking over our options and choices the lady came back in... it was because she had ordered a ton of food and then placed them in containers easy for her to carry out. As soon as we walked in the lady was extremely friendly, greeting us and asking how our day was. Very personable! I wanted to try a few items but after I saw her dish up munchkins plate, it was already going to be too much for me. Munchkin settled on the chow mein and 2 orders of teriyaki chicken. The portions are huge! He downed the chow mein and was only able to finish half of his chicken. I opted for the jalapeño chicken and beef and broccoli with half chow mein and rice. The beef and broccoli was the best I've tasted in a long time. The meat was tender and juicy with such good flavor and the broccoli was cooked perfectly. The jalapeño chicken had a mild spicy and was cooked perfect... I ate everything. Now the chow mein, while having a mild flavor it was good but after I tasted the rice I was sold which carbs I was going to eat. The rice had chunks of carrots and onion with peas. It was moist and flavorful with each bite. I did get to try a piece of the chicken teriyaki with the sauce, it was very flavorful and not too sweet. The inside decor was very clean and looked comfortable but it was such a nice day to eat inside that we opt to venture to a nearby park instead. Would be back if in the area or passing by. Legit! Dragon beats Panda in Kung Fu Panda 4! Delicious orange chicken, chow mein and everything plus super friendly service! Big portions as well! We've been there a couple of times so we got to try different items. Each time we got the 3 item combo and they packed it like we're going on a trek in Machu Picchu. Usually the 3rd item would need a separate box. We love their orange chicken (crispy and tangy), mushroom chicken, chicken wings, green beans, teriyaki chicken, chow mein (don't mind the color), and their fried rice was actually more than edible, unlike Panda! The service was very friendly too. The lady who was serving us (I believe she's the owner) was super sweet. We didn't feel like we're part of an assembly line waiting to move along. She greeted us, smiled to us and acknowledged for our wait while she's busy with another customer. As you can expect, the lines can be long sometimes especially peak hours but they move pretty quickly. They're busy (but not crazy) no matter what time we went. It was never empty. The place was well-kept with modern decor. It's a place where you feel comfortable dining there since it doesn't look too much like a pure fast food place. Bottom Line- AMAZING CHINESE FOOD. I have been to this place many many MANY times. So we are going to break it down in deeets. Let's start with location- plenty of parking, plenty of places to sit even have high chairs. Also always clean. Now please note in terms of seating this is not a fancy restaurant this is definitely "fast food" style- sit your self booths/ tables and plastic trays however food is still served in the foam containers or bowl if that's what you get. Food- between my husband/ children/ family members I'm sure we have tried every entree option. Fried Rice/noodles- both are delicious can't go wrong. In my opinion get the half / half live best of both worlds. In terms of side choices they're all good, however our favorites or the honorable mentions if you will are the jalapeño chicken, kung pao chicken, and my husband loves the pork. Price- one dollar sign for sure-- it's cheap you can't get better pricing than this. Portion- HUGE- like filled to the brim. Called to place an order for pick up the lady who answered was so sweet. She answered our questions about entree's without making us feel rushed. We picked up our order I had the pineapple curry and crispy calamari. The pineapple curry was delicious but the calamari was not crispy at all, actually it was pretty soggy. In all fairness it may have been from the styrofoam to go container. However, just be warned if ordering that item to go. My partner had tofu and veggies and he ate every bite.
