New Favorite from North County - MTK I always order for togo from Muay Thai Kitchen because it's close to work and each time just leaves me a little more impressed than before. The food's so consistently good and order is completed fast so you're in and out of there just like that, awesome service if you ask me. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant is tidy with nice deco and a general clean, homey, and professional but comfortable atmosphere.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Menu has a nice variety so fit for all sorts of palates. Ordered the Spicy Crispy Basil Wings which was so insanely crispy and flavorful, blew my mind. Pad See Ew is a classic; got it with pork and it's cooked to that perfect consistency and same with the vegetables too. And last but not least is one my most favorite soup in the world, the tom yum - with chicken. It's hot, it's spicy, it's tangy, it's literally happiness in a pot. My go to noodles is always Spicy Drunken Noodles when I eat Thai food. I got medium spice and it had a pretty good kick to it. If your spice tolerance is low I wouldn't suggest getting medium. The lunch special comes with salad and soup. Good portion of noodles & the pork was not dry and overcooked like most places. read more

Pad See Ew I knew that I'd be around Escondido/San Marcos area today do I looked up restaurants to try. I almost wrote off Muay Thai kitchen because of the name. I thought, with a name like this, food couldn't be good. I couldn't have been more wrong. Good thing that I looked at the photos. Growing up in Thailand, I could tell authentic Thai food when I see one. And the photos made me want to try this place. Pad See Ew looked very authentic and I just had to try it. We were greeted by Noyd who was very friendly and confirmed with me that indeed Pad See Ew was the dish to try. She told me that pad Thai was also good but she wouldn't recommend to take it to go (I already ordered Pad See Ew so she knew that the other order would be to-go). When we discussed the spiciness level, she recommended me a 2! A 2! What an insult! I have been known to order 9-10 in other restaurants and you think I can only handle a 2! She told me that it's really spicy there. Fine, at least get me a 4 please . This is the first time in my life that i ordered anything below 7. It'd better be hot enough! Well, she was right. 4 was decently spicy. Truth be told, I could go much higher but 4 was spicy enough to tease the tastebuds but no suffering. Maybe I should try this level more in the future. Pad See Ew was as I expected. Nice wok hei. A little spicy and a little sweet. Just how a good food stand Pad Sww Ew would taste like in Bangkok (this is a compliment!) Best I've ever had! May seem little dipping sauce they give you (half of a tiny container but I only used half of that tiny half and it was more than enough. Goodness I'll return just for the wontons! So good! But don't burn your tongue, remember cream cheese gets piping hot. Do not leave without getting these wontons! Enjoy!!! Hubby chose Thai fried rice with pork $14 Was good he said. He got mildish 3 spice level and I couldn't handle it lol so his meal was safe from my trying bites. The pad Thai was best I've had in California but understand, I've had my friend's Thai in Kentucky and the way it's made in the east is so incredibly different taste wise, I'm not a good measure for this dish. But understand it's because we grew up on our friend from Thailand's pad Thai and that's how it's also cooked in all Kentucky Thai restaurants so it seems I just won't be enjoying Thai here. I did order ingredients to attempt making it but again, this is the only worth while Thai place I've found in all San Diego county thus far. I love waitress was upfront about added costs to add ons. And knowledgeable on Thai history, we had questions and she shared so many interesting respectfully things and was so happy to teach us as we asked. Photos and such abound and it was nice to learn. We ordered to go and the staff was friendly. But unfortunately it was all lacking flavor. We got the pad see-eww with fried tofu ($15). It was pretty bland. I don't know what it was, but it was missing something. We also got the pineapple fried rice with mock duck ($16). It was very bland. Didn't even look like fried rice. The rice was pale in color, no eggs, no carrots, no peas, no garlic, no fish sauce, no Chinese broccoli no flavor. This is our 2nd try here and we don't really have a reason to try again. This place has started growing on me, I've had it several times and here is what I would get vs a normal Thai restaurant staples. I didn't enjoy their Thai Tea, it tasted very watery and the boba was not good. I try pad Thai everywhere I go, and it's okay here. First time it was a bit dry, second time it was better but still not my favorite I LOVE their green curry. I crave it now, and it's been my go-to. My wife likes the Panang Curry, but it's not for me. Portion sizes are good. You could easily split one item with someone. I've never eaten inside, so I can't speak about the interior. The take-out service is great. read more

Food is delicious here. You'll have your typical go to items and a bit more specialties as well. Lunch specials seems to be the way to go between 11am -3 pm. We opted for the regular dishes since we had four people to share via family style. Service was good. Our server checked in with us to ensure everything went well. Ask for the spicy garlic sauce. To be honest, it's not that spicy but the flavor and texture elevated all the dish to the next level of goodness. Would love to come back for a pleasant meal. Interior decor could be tweaked a bit more but it's limited spacing so ambiance will need to be forfeited. Overall, love it here. Good food and service :) read more

I've been craving Thai for so long so I was glad to come here. I ordered the Lunch Special Pad See Ew with Tofu ($10.95), and added the 2 Piece Fried Spring Roll ($1.45). Our meal started with a small bowl of Tom Kha soup. It was good, but it was only luke warm and I wish that it were hotter. It's also just the broth of the soup; there's no mushrooms or chicken or any sort of contents in it. The plates came out pretty quickly after that. The salad was great for balancing out the heaviness of the noodles and fried spring rolls. The spring rolls were small and is the kind that is a bit mushy in the middle but crispy on the outside. While there is a lot of flavor in the pad see ew, it was just a bit too salty for my taste though, and when I was finished with my food there was a bunch of grease just sitting at the bottom of the plate. I definitely felt that grease later that day. I did try the green curry as well as the yellow curry though and those were good. I think the next time I visit I would be getting the curry instead. read more

Right from the start, everyone here was so welcoming. They have the menu posted up above the counter so I thought it was a type of setup where you order and pay first and then seat yourself. The staff kindly told me that we can take a seat wherever we'd like and then gave us some menus. While we were browsing the menu there was a lovely (I think) service dog that belonged to a staff member that was coming around and greeting the other customers and I. It did take a while to get some water, maybe about 10 minutes. What we ordered: Thai tea without boba- their tea was really really watered down. I myself really like a strong thai tea taste and this one tasted like mostly milk. Dumplings- sorry I cannot remember the name of these on the menu, but they were sooo good. They had crunchy garlic on top. The filling was chicken and pork and it came with a sweet soy sauce on the side. See-ew- this one was also really great all around, the noodles were so flavorful and it had broccolini instead of typical broccoli. Yellow curry- we did not like this one. Usually yellow curry is very creamy and rich, but this one was very watery. Pricing- their pricing was great here! Everything was less than $15. read more

Just came here for the first time in between peak service times to avoid the lunch and dinner crowds. First, food was awesome! I've visited Thailand 3 times, and the food here is authentic but each has the chef's personal signature. I had the drunken noodles, papaya salad, pineapple fried rice, and fried chicken. All were delicious... I forgot which fried chicken it came with these herbs and spices that took it to another level. Second, service was great. All staff were really friendly made sure that I had a great dining experience. Available but not hovering. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Finally, ambience... the restaurant is Muay Thai themed so it's definitely different and interesting. There are a bunch of cool Muay Thai photos on the wall. I believe the chef's dad took those[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. I had a great experience, and will a to come back on a Saturday on my next visit. It's easy to miss Muay Thai Kitchen driving past on the busy street, but definitely worth trying. I got pad see-ew at spice level 4, and it was very tasty. I wouldn't want to go higher on the spice myself. The staff must've noticed me struggling and refilled my water cup, haha. I also tried Thai lemonade for the first time. It was fresh squeezed lemonade with some kind of sparkling water, very refreshing. They had a few other drinks on the menu I hadn't seen before that also sounded interesting. The servers were polite and attentive. It has been a while since I've had good Thai food. With COVID coming on strong, followed by a growing Toddler who's finicky on what she eats, finding chances to get some Yellow Curry come few and far between. Taking advantage of my mother coming by the house, the wife and I ditched our children and made our way out to Muay Thai Kitchen. First off, I understand the theme, but I can't say I much like the decor. Pictures and fighting paraphernalia feel more at home at a New York Pizza spot, not sure I like it in a Thai restaurant. Still, it doesn't detract from the food. Skipping appetizers, I ordered the See-Eww Noodles w/Mock Duck. Honestly, this is one of my favorite dishes and I know it's pretty basic to stick to; whenever I go to a new Thai place, I find both this and the Yellow Curry to be good yard sticks to measure by. And here, the egg noodles are perfectly cooked, separated well without any sticking or clumping to each other and a nice amount of sweet caramelization. The carrots and gai lan both added a good crunch. And the the mock dock soaked up the flavors of the oyster sauce beautifully, giving that texture I love to this excellent dish. The only detractor was a huge glob of fresh pepper that was spooned on top, not mixed into the rest as it should have been. My wife had the same, though she had hers with beef. Sadly, I don't think she enjoys Thai as much as I do. Regardless, the bite I stole had the same sweet flavors and benefitted from not having the same glob of pepper. While it's not the best Thai I've had, Muay Thai is certainly good enough to warrant a second trip. Thankfully, it's near enough that I'm sure I'll be able to come back and enjoy something else on the menu. Until then, I'm a solid fan of this place. read more

We are from LA and tried multiple Thai restaurants from the Cheapest to the most expensive. Their pad thai is so sumptuous and spicy as I requested and you don't need to put any more sauce. If you don't get the Drunken Noodle with beef, extra basil and extra sauce heat level 3, so not too hot and or the Panang curry with shrimp extra bell pepper heat level 3 you are missing out. They have lots of good items, but these are where they really shine. Possibly the best Thai food in the USA.
