Service is very poor, and even though I was clearly speaking proper Chinese with my dad, she had such an attitude with how we were ordering, so we literally had to go to another lady to order. However, this bakery's bubble tea and other drinks are my absolute favorite. Something about nostalgia and just everything feels right with their drinks. Literally my favorite bubble tea of all time. read more

* Unfortunately had to lower my rating since I found plastic in the mango Mochi. * I came here on a Wednesday evening around 6pm. I got the mango and peanut Mochi. The size is huge. They're like mega Mochi. The dough is soft and sweet. The peanut filling is chunky pieces of peanut mixed with granulated sugar. They were $2 each. They had a lot of interesting good-looking pastries like light fluffy cheesecake, a golden egg bread, red bean pastry, cookies, egg tarts, etc. read more

This place is similar to the other old-school Chinese bakeries around. There were some customers sitting, who were older adults. There was no music playing. I brought their chicken and fish fillet sandwiches. The mayonnaise goes well with the fillets. read more

Affordable Chinese bakery goods and drinks! I love getting the milk tea here because it's the perfect amount of sweetness and tea. I got the chicken fillet bun recently and it was soo good! With crunchy chicken and a soft, fluffy bun in every bite. Also comes with tomato, lettuce, and Mayo. I also enjoyed the egg tarts here (got 6 of them) and I got a yeen yerng which is a mixture of coffee and milk tea. Overall my total came out to be about $11 for all that stuff. Filling and delicious! They also have 2 other locations spread around 8th Avenue but check it out for some yummy buns hun! read more

I was craving chinese bread and came by here to get some buns and breads. Dragon Bay used to have many chain stores but changed; I only go to Dragon Bay on 8th ave area. Always decent prices for chinese baked buns and breads. I got the half loaf of bread (10 slices for $2.75); I wish it was a larger loaf but no bakery sells a whole loaf anymore. read more

This is a must stop. So many good treats!!! The cakes were very moist and not too sweet. Lemon cake was my favorite. Egg tarts were perfect. They have a few tables to sit at. This is a great little stop. read more

Brooklyn Chinatown needs more bakeries like this little treasure along 8th Avenue. Most of the bakeries along the street are so-so at best, but this one is easily one of the best. Prices are reasonable, service is prompt, and the selection is fresh and full of variety. The egg tarts are usually pretty good and the buns are good. My favorite items are usually their cakes and while small for American standards, just perfect for Chinese tastes. However, I have to say that coming here after 2PM may result in a lot of the items tasting very average. Best time to come here is during the daytime and possibly on the weekend when they're busiest. Unlike the rest of the baked goods, the cakes are good to buy during anytime of the day and are great for virtually any occasion. read more

I usually bring pastries when I visit my family in Brooklyn so often I stop by the local bakery with a simple selection of buns and cakes. On a whim I decided to surprise the family today with a large assortment of pastries only because I happen to stop to admire their poster of cakes on their window. A couple of reasons I stopped- Pretty pictures of cakes on the window. (drooling factor) Their door is wide open so I can look inside. (Quick attention grabber) Their display cases and floor are clean! (Good eye candy) Their windows and sign are clean; someone care enough to clean them (Ok I'm anal.) They do have a good selection pasteries and it can rival the Chinatown & Flushing bakeries. The prices are reasonable and only about 10 cents higher on some items. So they give me two of these and two of those and a couple of that too. My family was impressed and I'm in good with my mother; for this week. I like this place so I will be back soon. read more

Definitely one of the better bakeries along 8th avenue! All the bread comes out hot and fresh, and they're all so cheap, ranging from $1 to $2. They have a large variety, but my favorites are the Pineapple Bun with Red Bean Filling, Coconut Bun, Dried Pork Roll with Egg, and Ham & Cheese topped bun. They also sell cakes, drinks, packaged cookies / desserts. read more

Whenever my family visits my grandparents who live in Brooklyn, we always pick up Chinese baked goods here. Delicious bread and pastries. I especially love the law mai chee (coconut mochi) and egg tarts. Drinks are freshly made and perfect for the summer. Plenty of sitting area too, but it's usually pretty full. Highly recommended read more

This is your typical Chinese bakery.....except one thing that they have keeps me coming back again and again.... Their Mochi balls stuffed with all sorts of delicious things including mango, peanut, and the elusive taro filled mochi that I have only been able to get my hands on twice since it sells out so quick...they are that good! read more

About a 2.5: Dragon Bay Bakery is a Chinese bakery that has several locations along 8th Avenue in Brooklyn. They offer cakes, buns, fruit-filled pastries, sesame rice balls, shakes, and rolls. I was given a box of egg custard tarts that looked pretty okay, but the flavor was definitely lacking. It was a little mushy, and the crust itself was very wet and did not complement well. I'm not much of a fan of egg tarts to begin with, but I think there are better versions out there. I'm interested in trying out their other pastries and bubble shakes, but I would probably not get the egg tarts again. I highly suggest in going to Tai Pan Bakery in Flushing instead! read more

We found a iron wire in the taro bread and called back to the store. The person who worked there were extremely rude and the service was really bad. They didn't even apologize for that. Can you imagine how dangerous it would be if it got stuck in the throat for kids? The hygiene in the store is also terrible and not recommended for the people who live around in that area. I prefer to give them 0 star if it possible. read more

Dragon Bay Bakery offers a variety of Chinese buns and pastries for your everyday type of breakfast or afternoon snack. The buns are affordable, they are now at least 90 cents each depending on what you have selected. As a regular and longtime customer to this bakery, I personally recommend the egg tart (they changed them to crispy!), the Hot Dog Bun (early morning bunch is the best!), and the mini pineapple buns with melted butter. I have noticed that they started to be produce more innovative/experimental varieties that I have not tried yet. This gives me a chance to keep going back to try new things! If you are visiting relatives or friends, bring over some Almond cookies or the flaky Butterfly cookies! They are delicious! Add some hot milk tea, hot horlick, or hot coffee to go along with it! The cookies and drinks make a great combination for a relaxing afternoon tea party. The milk tea is offered in 3 versions: regular milk tea, Hong Kong style milk tea, and Coffee/Milk Tea combo. Watermelon Ice, is by far my favorite cold drink, however, only offered during the hot summer seasons. My family have order birthday cakes here quite often - whenever we have a birthday in the family. The prices are very fair for how big the cake is. They have a photo album of different cartoon characters or different looks of the fruit cake. The cake is nice and soft filled with fruits and cream between 2 layers. You may order the birthday cake at least 5 hours before your pick up time and they will always have it there, ready for pick up guaranteed but always ask the ladies behind the counter before you order. The bakery does get super loud and super crowded. There is no formation of a line in there especially during busy hours. To pay, you just have to find an empty spot at the counter and place your food there. This is definitely something, they should work on especially I have seen customers getting mad about being skipped by the person behind them. Why 5 Stars? It's a bakery that will grow on you. That homely feeling that it gives you when your parents bring you home a bakery bun. The aroma of the hot drinks will make you feel like you can relax and just enjoy. If you're in Brooklyn Chinatown- 8th Avenue, definitely come visit Dragon Bay Bakery! read more

Egg Custard Tarts $6 (Half dozen) - They were great.. partially due to being at the right place at the right time. I arrived on a Saturday afternoon and a fresh, hot batch just came out. I came here for dessert. The taro bun was pretty decent, but the cream bun was just sugary. I also wasn't really into the tapioca tea, which was too much tapioca - though the coconut wasn't overly sweet, which was good. The people helping us with our order were a bit abrupt and not particularly friendly. If I came back, I'd definitely try the green tea tiramisu, which seems original and was the most appealing looking thing in the case, in my opinion. read more

Good iced milk tea. Usually get the egg bun - service is quick. Can be busy during lunch time and morning.

Love the coffee here. Their pastries and buns are pretty good too. The staff is good too. But Beware of the customers there. They have no consideration for others. They don't believe in forming a line to order. They are rude. If you don't want to wait forever then you go right to the front and as soon as the staff has a chance to even look at you order right away! If you don't do that you will be in there forever!! I come here strictly for their good coffee and fresh pastries. If not I would end up fighting with all the customers there. This place can get very busy! read more

Top tier and one of the OG Chinese bakeries. Still delicious and cheap eats. Come here if you want the authentic experience

An older Chinese guy, who I assume is the owner, and speaks perfectly good English (wow) served me that day as I ordered their melon smoothie (and Holy Crap it was Good as Hell). Perfect balance of iced melon and milk/cream/coconut (forget which it was) and absolutely refreshing. I used to come here often, they have a huge selection of breads, and loved their fruit tart pastry. I get the birthday cakes here too for my dad, he loves them! read more

I wanted to order a Chinese cake for my grandmother's birthday dinner. The dinner was being held at a restaurant in BK's Chinatown so I figured it would be easier to get a cake from a bakery by 8th ave but there's quite a few bakeries in the area. Luckily I had Yelp and found a place that had good reviews and from people that I know and trust their opinion. I know most Chinese bakeries make the same type of cake (chiffon) but I don't know why I was so fussy about finding a good bakery. I guess since it was for my grandma, I wanted the best for her. I custom ordered the cake to be filled with pineapples. It was good, fresh tasting and everyone enjoyed it. I will definitely return to order more cakes and hopefully try out new cake filling flavors... This place has been my go-to place to purchase Chinese cakes... read more

Lots of selection for all tastes. The coffee has always been decent. The fresh buns have a friendly young woman to package the buns for you. That appeals to my cynical self who imagines people picking through and sneezing on the selection when they serve themselves. It's incredibly affordable: 70 cents or 60 cents for most buns. I can't vouch for the meat-eater items, but the red bean pancakes are good and sweet and the sesame balls are perfect for a nosh. The vegetable roll is really cabbage and two slivers of carrot, but it's still tasty. I haven't gone into the cafe they have up the street, but I'll try to remember to stop in at some point. read more

What can I say? Another tasty and successful Chinese bakery! The egg custards are excellent, fresh and delicate. I have a few custard buns in the fridge, and I know they won't disappoint. Yummy goodness. Semms to be one of the more popular bakeries on 8th avenue and I'm sure it has to do with their perfect egg custard tarts and sesame balls. Its packed every time I've been there, even though they have a second place down the street. read more

I mentioned in my last review of this Bakery, that there are three locations. So here is a rough estimate of where the three locations whereabout are. I labeled the store location on where the location opened up. Very distinctive awnings for the store front. Bakery 3- 59th Street -Depends on time to be crowded Bakery 2 -54th Street -Also depended on time to be crowded. Bakery 1- 56th Street - always crowded What prompted this update. Well I was in the 54th location today, and they didn't have one of my favorite butter rolls.. so I do have to say - that with this bakery having a big monopoly on 8th Ave's bakery business... let's just say that there are three chefs, so as identical locations are... they might not have the baked goods you want. Also another criticism.. they don't label the drinks in the fridge.. so I am always not really fond of that. How can I know if they overcharge a customer on that? read more

I passed by here because I wanted coffee after a brief dinner sonewhere else, and was not disppointed. I had my usual black coffee plus a meat bun and a sweet round thing ( we call it 'buchi' in the Philippines, actually ). This place is neat and staffed by pretty young women (at least when I was there on an early Friday evening). They don't speak much English but it's ok with me. Yes, the small, good tasting coffee at $1 is almost a steal ( I guess that's standard price in this area). read more

Don't underestimate this bakery! Despite deceiving cheap prices, their food is quite filling. So filling I couldn't finish all that I had ordered. I bought a sugary donut, a lemon cake/pastry(?), and a red bean pancake all under $3. The sugary donut is exactly what it sounds like, sugary. A bit too sugary, but I only bought it as my gf told me to get it. The red bean pancake was a bit too dry for my taste, but for some reason I suspect they're meant to be that way. The lemon pastry was good, no doubt. But I was already full from the first two and I couldn't continue. The bad thing about this bakery is that the seats always seem to be occupied by elderly men who never seem to get up. read more

This bakery was clean and open and had a lot of choices. You could buy bubble teas or other drinks, and there were a range of breads, cakes and pastries. I had a egg tart and a Macau egg tart. Dragon Bay Bakery - Macau egg tart and traditional egg tart - Chinese Near Me - Brooklyn, New York

Lots of variety, bustling bakery with sweet and savory take out items plus larger cakes. Traditional Chinese fare, we got: walnut cookies, lao pao bing ("old lady patty", a sweet and soft patty with filling-ours was coconut based), sesame paste ball, pineapple bun. The packaged stuff you can grab yourself, but if you want any of the fresh items you will need the shop worker to grab them with the tongs for you. Everything was delicious and affordable. Great place to stock up on snacks and go picnic at the park or grab a quick sandwich bun for lunch. My Mandarin-speaking friend did the purchasing, so not sure if anyone spoke English but did not overhear any. Might need to rely on pointing or a Mandarin speaker to navigate. read more

This is the usual bakery for me because of the convenient location. I believe I tried every type of bread they served and a few drinks. All is good. The prices are rising but not dramatically. They have a lot of choices and it does get crowded in here. The employees work a long shift, so customers, please don't be rude.
