Pretty dang good! I was pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere and the food. $5 pitchers of domestic beer on Sundays is hard to beat. I had the Buffalo chicken horseshoe with their Thai chili sauce. Hubby and I went for lunch last Saturday. Service was horrible. After we sat down it was a good 10 minutes before anyone even acknowledged us. After we ordered it took 40 minutes to get our food. Hubby ordered the special of the day, (cheeseburger and chips for $3.99) I ordered the chicken dip and chips. Hubby had an RC to drink and I had iced tea (because diet rc is yucky) At one point while waiting for our food, I wanted to just pay for our drinks and go next door to Culver's but hubby wanted to give them a chance. The food was...ok. Yes, just ok. Hubby wasn't impressed with the burger. My chicken dip was so-so. The homemade chips were good if I brushed off the heavy dusting of garlic salt that was on them. I'm not a wings person and several of their good reviews were from people who love their wings. If you want wings and have a couple hours for lunch, give them a try. As for me and hubby, we won't be back. There are too many good places to eat in town where we don't have to wait so long. read more

I came to Dr. McKays for a trivia night. The staff was very attentive snd the trivia was a lot of fun. They had a great variety of drinks that were very tasty and the waitress always had the next one coming as soon as you finished the one you were drinking. I LOVED the service. Unfortunately I don't believe the food was up to the same standard as the drinks and service. My salad was underdressed and incredibly dry. The chicken was chewy and really didn't taste like it was 100% real chicken. I had heard that the waffle fries were amazing, so I ordered some as well but to my disappointment they were chewy and didn't have a lot of flavor. If you would like to come to Dr. McKays definitely head somewhere else to eat first and then come to enjoy drinks afterward! read more

Im a regular at McKays. The food is high quality bar food. Wings are a must. They are large with a wide variety of tasty flavors including some exotic flavors like peanut butter and bacon wings. The bar sits 30 or so people and a generous number of tables are available. Staff is experienced and friendly. Atmosphere is comfortable, not pretentious, and clean. For all the reasons stated, we enjoy this bar/restaurant on a regular basis. read more

Went last night for the first time. Staff was very friendly and great selection of draft beer. Prices were good. Hot wings were excellent, but onion rings were disappointing. We didn't stay for the entire set of live music but what we did get to see was very good. I look forward to visiting this pub again. read more

This was our first visit for lunch on my husband's birthday. We wanted a casual meal, but were tired of the usual chains. I had the Rueben with waffle fries. Both were very good and I would have it again. My husband had a taste and liked it as well, but it he would have wanted more meat. If you think there are better wings in town, you're absolutely mistaken. These are some of the best wings I've found anywhere, and I consider myself a wing connoisseur. The Thai chili and bourbon Sriracha are absolutely amazing! The sauces sound like they would be extremely hot, but aren't anything unbearable. In fact, I would say they are only about a 5 or 6/10 in hotness compared to the hot sauces at other restaurants. The flavors are bold and amazing! The wings are always cooked to perfection with a skin that pops when you bite in. They have never been soft or mushy like other places in town. But the wings aren't the only great items at Doc Mckays. Their horse shoe is top notch and the cheese balls are quite possibly the best in town as well. I highly recommend checking this place out. It does get kind of busy in the immediate after work hours, but it is so worth it! read more

I am a wings lover. Been here lot of times and must say they have the best wings in Bloomington-Normal area. Their Southwest and Sriracha bourbon are top sellers and my personal favourite wings. The cost is also pretty impressive - 10 wings for $8.5. Their happy hour is between 4-6 pm and beer costs around $2 at that time. I will keep coming here often as long as I am in bloomington. It has one of the biggest drink selections of any bar I've been to. But the food is what truly sets it apart. I ordered a Cheeseburger and it was juicy, meaty and flavorful. The waffle fries were fresh and hot off the fryer. I didn't expect the peanut butter bacon wings to work, but here we are. They are the perfect mix if sweet and savory, with jelly dipping sauce to boot. The Thai Chilli wings were top of the breadline as well, and the cheese nuggets were delicious. But the big McKay was an unforgettable burger, its unique ingredients that work so well together make for a grand experience for your taste buds. The service was great and quick. Ok for bar food. Had the burger on pretzel bun and my guest a the MacKay Shoe. Waffle fries cool way to hard but otherwise .. Everything was ok. Saturday late afternoon we went for our first visit to Dr. McKays as a family. The jalapeño corn cheddar nuggets were exceptional, and came recommend by Jenn our server who was also very friendly and attentive. My younger daughter and I both ordered wings, the bacon peanut butter wing were amazing as were the maple mustard wings. My other daughter ordered fish bites and said they were really good. My wife ordered a Hawaiian Iced tea, kind of like a Long Island, and said it was great! Since there wasn't a crowd I can't really speak on the setting, but with good food and the reasonable drink prices I'm sure they'll be crowded at times. My favorite place in Bloomington -Normal. The staff is friendly and remembers me whenever I go in. There's yet to be anything on the menu that I haven't liked and the prices for the food are very reasonable, especially when they have specials. Cheeseburger and chips is often on special for $4.99. Only been to this bar a handful of times, mainly to drink however tonight we chose to eat as well. Lots of people have been talking about their wings so we were excited to give them a try. My friend and I each ordered wings and an app. 20 ish minutes after ordering some other people in our group ordered some food. 20 minutes after that their food came out but we still did not have our wings now almost 45 minutes later. Once brought to the managers attention he semi played it off and told us they would be up in 2-5 minutes. It was very clear our order never got put in. Our server wasn't the best but she was trying and also said she was new so we can chalk that up. Receiving our food almost an hour later I was shocked when I received my bill that I was still in fact charged for the food. While it was delicious, waiting an hour for fried food in a not too busy bar is not acceptable. The manager never seemed to really address the issue but did continually check on us there after.
