This is a very low key bar not that live but the drinks were flowing they did have the game on so it was definitely a good spot to pregame or if u want a little more low key vibe. The bartender was awesome she was very friendly and attentive. As for the food one of the best fish Sammie's I've had. They only serve it on Friday. And they will run out they have limited servings. But don't miss out on the fish Sammie. They come in three sizes. I had the middle one for lunch it was so good I came back for dinner and orders the bigger one. The breading was so light and airy with a crispy crunch and the fish was so warm and moist and tender. The fish Sammie was 5 stars. Cheech's Foodie tip spread the tartar sauce on the bottom with a little mustard spread it down and also substitute the fries for pepper jack bites. And add them to the bottom of the Sammie. On top of the tartar sauce so the fish stays crispy The pepper jack bites add extra crunch creamy cheese texture and a little kick in the back of your throat. It's hard to beat Lunker's fish sandwich. You can get 3 different sizes of fish, depending on your appetite, cheese if you're inclined, and tasty tartar sauce. We popped into Lunker's to cap-off our night of bar-hopping around town and... and... I really do not remember much. What I do recall is that it was pretty packed (after mid-night), no one was really dancing, and more than a handful of people were being tossed out (which is a good sign if you ask me - the bouncers were keeping things civil!). It's a pretty dark place, and I remember lots of blue/purple lighting, but I am not even sure if we bought any drinks... at least, I didn't buy any (but that isn't saying they were not bought for me). I like this place. It's pretty cool. They got Karaoke and Beer. But that's not all, they have a great menu. Not "great" in terms of size, but in terms of how good the food is. Being a vegetarian, I'm limited to two items for a meal: Tuna Salad and the Fish Sandwich. The Fish Sandwich. It's a great hunk of cod (the best piece I've seen in a long time, actually) deep fried in a house batter, served on a great roll with your choice of fries, chips, corn fritters and sweet potato fries (I may have missed something here). I ordered the "half-fish sandwich" and worried it would be too small. So I ordered a side of corn fritters with the sandwich and fries and then got myself a beer. The food came fast (before I finished my first beer!) and was piping hot. It turned out to be the best meal I'd had for a couple of weeks. I loved it. This place is on the small side and I'd had my share of their beer before this trip. The place is tastefully decorated and has plenty of space, for being such a small place. I prefer it to Brew-Ha's across the street, but it carries a bit of a price hike along with the quality. I would definitely suggest this place to anyone looking for a decent pub-type meal with a great beer selection at a decent price. $30 fed two people very well with left overs and got them both buzzed in my experience. read more

The atmosphere is your typical bar scene. The food however is another story! The Big Fish is really good! You can get a smaller one as well if you don't want as much. They both come with a side. If one of you doesn't want a side you could split it. The smaller fish sandwich is 1/2 the size of the big fish (1/2 the price also) and comes with its own side. My favorite bar in the whole wide world. 1. Average cost of a meal and one beer is $8 to $10, which in this day and age is fantastically cheap. The $6 half fish could feasibly feed two moderately hungry people. 2. Good selection. Plus 50 beers club! Win a free T-shirt! 3. Karaoke on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Lunker's is a hidden gem just outside of Uptown, Normal on Linden St. The small college dive bar is easy to miss as it is somewhat tucked away and has a relatively small sign leaving you wondering if it is a bar or a diner. (As you're heading down Linden just look for the sign with a fish). Lunkers is probably the only bar in the area that has a clear identity and the decor to match. Sporting a fisherman's theme, it cleverly balances the nods to the nautical with the beer paraphernalia spread throughout. It has a good beer selection, it's reasonably priced, and most importantly the beer is always served cold! But, the number one reason you NEED to visit Lunkers, is the beer battered fish sandwich. It is outstanding! If you go at lunch the place will most likely be close to empty, but that may have something to do with the fact that it's not open everyday, and there doesn't seem to be a pattern (or posted schedule) to determine which days it'll be open for business. If you go at night, you will run into more of a college crowd, although Lunkers seems more of a pit stop between bars as the crowd will ebb and flow instead of maintaining a steady presence. The night we went happened to be Karaoke night -- which was entertaining, but not great. All the kids that wish they were on Glee or Pitch Perfect show up to show off their skills with their favorite Disney song. We literally watched one guy walk around the bar singing a song from Mulan -- he thought he was awesome -- it was a grown man singing Disney in a bar...enough said The guy they are paying to run karaoke does nothing more than supply the equipment and the music, he doesn't balance acoustics or the level of the mic. As the night wore on, it just turned into drunk kids screaming into the mic -- we left due to loss of blood from our ears. All in all a decent bar. Just tried to get a table with my husband and 3 kids on Homecoming weekend. The bouncer approached my daughter, asking for I.D. She told him that we were leaving. He GRABBED HER BY THE SHIRT and turned her toward the door. My daughter told us about it when we got outside. Fish sandwich was terrific and the 1/2 was huge. There are three different sizes for the fish sandwich. I can't imagine being able to eat the large one. Fries were also very good. Staff was very helpful and prices were good. It is a bar atmosphere. I would recommend this place to others. read more

Cole slaw is good but a painfully small portion ( as in why botha? ), but we all know how much cabbage costs these days. Love me some Lunkers! This place has a rustic "fishing" hole kinda look to it, but beyond the decor and non-traditional college sports bar feel, it is a great place to stop by if you're in or near the area. It feels like you're in the middle of nowhere, off a lake perhaps in a fishing town in the boonies, and although you are technically in the boonies being in Normal to begin with, it feels like you are really in a different world, catching a cold beer and fried fish combo after a long day of catching Catfish. Yep. That's really how I feel when I go to Lunkers. The food is very good; from fresh fish options, chicken tenders, to sandwiches, and the sweet con nibbles (sweet corn rolled into a ball, breaded and fried, with dipping butter served on the side)! Heavenly! All of the beers are cheap as hell compared to Chicago prices, but then again, that's anywhere in B-N!! Let me start out by saying that I love Lunkers. My review has nothing to do with them specifically, but the people that run karaoke there. My friends, my mother, and I went there last night and were completely appalled. We were skipped over twice and when we voiced our complaints about it, some toothless girl that works for the karaoke company was extremely rude! Her husband or whatever he is, I think his name is Dennis, has no clue what he is doing. They have no business running karaoke. The sound was awful and neither one of them could sing!! Lunkers is small and generally not very busy. They have a GREAT fish sandwich and the rest of the food is pretty good as well. It is a great place to and have drinks and play some darts without having to worry about it being too loud or crowded, with the exception of karaoke night in which it is louder and more crowded, but that's to be expected. read more
