They have a fantastic selection, and I've been using their delivery service since the pandemic started. Hours and delivery times are accurate (though I do live close by), drivers and other staff are friendly and helpful, and the very, very few times there's been an error in my order it's been resolved by another driver arriving within 30 minutes at most. read more

Pretty much one of the best places to get booze, especially beer, within the city. Not quite "bottle shop" caliber here, but hot damn. They get close. Up front you have your liquors, spirits, and basically anything you could want that isn't wine or beer. Prices are comparable, selection standard. Where things get special though are when you move towards the back -- wines and beer galore! And while their beer selection has nothing of Full Throttle or Beer Junction, this is the best i've come across in centralized Seattle. Lots of great standards, lots of quirky choices. I spent a good time perusing the shelves wishing I had more disposable cash to get every bottle than interested me. Thankfully for my liver and wallet I settled on 2 choices. The owner is an absolute peach -- super friendly and there to answer any questions you may have. They also have tastings on Friday's as well! Nice. Long gone are the days of generic, state run liquor stores and now we have a new breed taking its place with better selection and more of a focus on meeting customers individual needs. At the top of the proverbial food chain sits Downtown Spirits which is split into two distinct sections. The front area is a pretty standard liquor store layout with everything you could ever want and more from a liquor store. I even noticed a few local distilleries being featured as well as a very interesting selection of novelty items like a gun shaped tequila bottle and bacon rim salt for when you want extra meaty margaritas. Once you are done checking out all the awesome in this area, you will see a ramp that magically leads you into a room twice the size as the first and jam packed with wines, ciders, and all kinds of amazing stuff. This is also where Downtown Spirits offers weekly tastings of local wines and beers. They even have a growler station for those looking to stock up on their favorite beers. Throw in the fact that the people here are so awesome and helpful, you may never go anywhere else for you alcohol needs...ever. read more

This placed has a really good selection of all types of alcohol. I went in for whisky and they had a great selection. They have a good variety, some hard to find. The staff was super helpful making good recommendations. And just so much to choose from and I couldn't buy it all. Then I'm liked, I need some beer for tonight. So head downstairs and there is a tasting section. Ask for the style of beer in looking for, ask for someone to help and they get someone. They offer multiple selections and it's good. Now this is how you re-design your liquor store for the new liquor laws. Downtown Spirits opened up their back area as a huge beer and wine section, and with the size of space includes size of selection. I'm especially impressed with their selection of local microbrews and nanobrews. They now have wine and beer tastings on Friday evenings as well, which will be on my "off the top of my head" list of end-of-the-workweek things to do. Good job with the expansion! read more

While in this part of Seattle, I stopped in here to take a quick glance through this store. I must say that their selection is vast, and contains a few off-the wall beer brands that I never seen elsewhere. To be fair, my knowledge and experience of alcohol is limited. Looking downstairs contains over a hundred feet of shelving that contains wide selection of beer. If I'm out around in this area to head for a party- I'll check in to see what beer fancies me at that current moment. Do take advantage of their limited sized parking lot - you may be able to get a cell while fighting the rush hour in that area of Seattle. read more

You can buy single beers out of almost any 6-pack in the store. Just pick it out of the plastic rings and put it in your basket. The selection is unreal. They have beers from around the world as well as local craft. In my opinion it's not just the staff that is extremely knowledgeable, but the clientele this place attracts that makes the trip so incredible. If you love craft beer and work in SLU or live in Belltown this place is a staple. 5 stars read more

I've bought roughly 10 kegs from Downtown Spirits so far and have been disappointed every time. First, I tried ordering through their delivery service. I had a hard time getting any response from the guy in charge of it to even place an order. Once I placed the order and was told it would be there that Friday, it never showed. They had some excuse about traffic or something but another group in this building had a keg delivered. The next week, it did show up but had the same communication issues as the prior week. The process to place an order is insecure and very old fashioned. I had to fax in a copy of my credit card and ID. I understand the reason behind the ID but why the credit card? Why can't the delivery person check the ID or even just take a picture of it? The delivery person also didn't call me to let me know they had arrived. Every other delivery vendor I've used calls me when they get to the building. They left the kegs with the front desk which is fine but would have preferred being called so I could meet them and escort them to the keggerators. After that fiasco I started paying for an Uber and picking the kegs up in person. I hold a vote to pick what beer we want based on the ones listed on the website. Every week one or more of the beers that have been selected are no longer in stock even though they're listed on the website while I'm standing in the store being told it's not in stock. They do have a good selection of bottles and booze but avoid this place for kegs if you can. I'm currently looking for another local keg distributor. read more

This place is super cool. I've only come here after grabbing some BBQ from the Campfire wagon just outside; you're allowed to bring your food in to the back of Downtown Spirits, where they have tables inside and beer on tap that you can get. What is remarkable about this place is it looks like a standard, boring liquor store, but it's actually very festive. The guy who runs the tap in the back is super chill, as is the general atmosphere of the place. There seems to always be some free tasting going on - today there was a representative from Ole Smoky Tennessee Moonshine, who was letting everyone try 5 different flavours of moonshine, plus a moonshine infused cherry. I've heard they have free tastings every Friday from 5-7pm, and the Campfire BBQ wagon will be present during that time, so I plan on checking that out. Great place. read more

Bad news Downtown Spirits. This is the second time you've given me advice that was flat wrong. The first time was when I asked for suggestions for aperitifs. Your staff suggested the most expensive lemoncello available along with another foolish suggestion. Neither is an aperitif. At least this first time I knew. Next I came in looking for Sauterne wine. Sauterne and Sauternes is different, and since obviously why wouldn't I depend on your staff's superior wine knowledge would I need to know? Well, turns out the one you gave me destroyed the dish I was making, and will ultimately ruin my weekend. Thanks Downtown Spirits. Well, please color me impressed!! This little liquor is actually not so little. The front holds your common liquors, but once you walk through the wooden doorway (much like Narnia) you enter is a dream world filled with wines, beers, and ciders. They have chalkboards with the state of origin for the wines (all your locals represented, even some New World wonders) and bookshelves lining the walls filled with the only things better than books... beer and wine! The employees are extremely helpful and informative on all of their products. This gem in Belltown is definitely a force to be reckoned with! Oh man, I've wasted almost a year living here in Seattle without knowing about Downtown Spirits. What a fool I've been! I was walking to the bus at Denny Way after doing an exercise class in SLU, and stumbled upon this place while looking for a bottle of wine on Friday night. After entering, I was directed from the smaller entrance room (which is stocked with some wine selections) into the enormous room on the left that is literally HEAVEN for cider & beer lovers. And, since it was Friday, they had free tastings happening! So fun! I'm a cider enthusiast and was so excited to see that one of my favorites, Elemental, was doing a tasting. Instead of the bottle of wine I was planning on, I left with a bag full of cider and I was super happy about it. I'll be back soon for sure! read more

A raring good spirit selection couples with a raring good wine selection and adopts a raring good beer selection as a baby. The baby grows, the parents age and develop their characters (especially the Scotch wall, mmmm). Somewhere in the middle, free Friday tastings (usually both beer and wine) as well as exceptionally helpful and knowledgeable staff members came along. Happy ending. Which, when one is on vacation, is a great problem to have! This may become my new go-to beer store. Their beer selection is actually quite excellent, better than most other liquor stores I've been to, and better than most QFCs. It's almost Bottleworks caliber, but with fewer European imports and they don't keep their beers refrigerated. The prices were equal to Bottleworks or even slightly cheaper on a few (I happened to go to both stores in the same day, and price compared several beers that I bought at Bottleworks). I found two or three new beers I hadn't heard of at Downtown Spirits, and hadn't seen at Bottleworks. Their location is more convenient to Capitol Hill than Bottleworks (although when Chuck's new CD store opens I'll probably switch there). In terms of liquor their selection in scotch and bourbon seems good (comparable to other liquor stores) but expensive (again, comparable to other liquor stores, which are all significantly more expensive than QFC - but QFC has less selection, so it's only good if you want mainstream brands). I appreciate them displaying total (after-tax) prices. read more

Just attended a tasting hosted by representatives of Laphroaig. ..this was a great event. I received the invitation thru the Scotch Malt Whiskey Society. The store has a free parking lot next to the store,much appreciated. The event was in the "cellar" a separate room from the store. They also had a wine tasting going on.....4-6 reps along with a chief figure from Laphroaig,Simon....he and another chap were in fine form going thru the different bottlings in the line. It was a great introduction to this well respected distillery on Islay....along with being introduced to several of the older bottlings that normally can't be accessed thru restaurants/bars. Anyway,very impressed and apparently they do tastings often, so signed up for email invites. Pss-pretty good selection of Scotch to buy also! read more

Great selection, and when I emailed a question they responded promptly and helpfully. The store is big and they have free parking - yay! The downside is that they had a cashier who didn't know anything about wine, didn't know how many bottles one has to buy to get a discount on wine, and wouldn't come from behind the counter to help me find something. Downtown Spirits is one of my favorite places to visit! I've been there about three times in 2018. It's like being a BIG kid in a candy store, so to speak!! I tend to go in for one or two items, but end up with more... First, I'm greeted with a smile and friendly HELLO, then followed by, "What can I help you find today?" The store is designed in such an inviting way, one is tempted to explore! The Champagne Showcase is always FUN, EXCITING and attended by people from around the city! Of the 4 showcases, I think I've attended 3. ... A place where one can find just about any type of spirit they want... If it's not on the shelf, most likely they could get it for you! Great place! I've been ordering online during the stay-at-home order and my orders always arrive as intended and on time, with friendly delivery people. Prior to the last few months, I have stopped in here and there and always had a good experience. They also host fun events too, like the Halloween cocktail class and a summer rose tasting. read more

Great store, great attitude and service, bright and clean with a large selection. Unfortunately there is some seriously weird tax shit going on in Washington, as booze taxes are 40% or more! This store posts their price, and then the "tax" price, which is a benefit to those of us from saner states who can't believe the prices (which I never thought I'd say about Oregon since our liquour is already so much more expensive than most States). I talked to Lenny, I got a mix of great customer service and a little history lesson on some of the different companies, their owners, products etc. This is a wonderful place to go to if you are a fan of spirits. The selection is unmatched, with drinks from the local Seattle distillery scene, brewery, and all the various imports and country selections. There were drinks from Spain, italy, Switzerland, and so much more. I will surely come back here. read more

Went in on 8/25 looking for Elysian Punkuccino told we don't have it, but should be anytime. Called at 7pm and was 48 on hand. Arrived 8/26 and asked for it and was told no, beer buyer on vacation and it's not in the system so I can't sell it to you. So it's in computer but not loaded in POS? and then I was told I would have to wait until the beer buyer comes back from vacation to buy it because apparently he/she is the only one who can do that specific job vs the 4 employees working this evening. read more

Good place to enjoy some free tasting for my first Yelp event on a Friday afternoon. They have a very large selection of alcohol with numerous kinds of beer, wine and liqueur. The place is huge with an upper and lower section of the store for you to peruse your choice. We stopped in here on a whim. It's been years since we lived in Seattle and, frankly, between the proximity to the Hurricane (RIP) and the bland facade, I was expecting... not much. What a pleasant surprise! The space is attractive, the selection is extensive, the restrooms were clean, and the customer service was absolutely top notch. I don't usually enjoy staff attention when I'm shopping and I hate pushy salespeople. These folks hit just the right note. They were friendly & helpful, and their suggestions were phenomenal. We will absolutely be back anytime I'm visiting and I wish they'd open up a location in the Portland/Vancouver area. read more

A winner for weddings! My husband and I bought all of the wine, beer and spirits for our August 2013 wedding from Downtown Spirits. We found them to be helpful, knowledgeable and easy to work with! We began the process by coming in for a wine tasting. Our budget wasn't huge but quality and providing variety for our guests was important to us. We got great suggestions and guidance and ended up with a fabulous wine selection. Their staff helped us find the best value for dollar spirits, and also helped us select keg and bottled beer. We were really happy with the selection and quantity in the end. I would highly recommend working with them for a wedding or other event. read more

I've gone here a couple of times before, to pick up the required bottle before the weekend ensues, and fortunately I've run into Downtown Sprits with an idea of something and come out with much more than I had anticipated! Their selection of liquor, wine, ciders and local brews makes for the perfect place to stop by after a long day of work or the start to your weekend. On top of that, every Friday between the hours of 5 pm and 7 pm they have free tasting sessions! I've had the pleasure of trying a slew of tasty wines, whiskeys and beers for free (not to mention they offer both pints and growlers for the brew connoisseur. Downtown spirits also has a bar that offers pints of local brews from amazing breweries, and an are that you can lounge and sip your beer of choice! I'm excited for what's next, but you can bet that I'll be back to this place for many days (and Fridays for that matter!) in the very near future! read more

Was visiting Seattle and needed to pick up some wine for dinner. This was the closest actual wine store (there was Walgreens, Target & some small convenience-type stores that sold wine) to our hotel, which was on Pike & 6th. Shoot me, I come from NYC and am used to being able to get really good wine at really great prices from people who understand when you describe what you like almost anywhere in the city or boroughs. The people were REALLY nice but I was stunned at the lack of selection. I got a bottle of Malagousia that I wound up dumping (I love Malagousia - it was really bad) and a decent, but overpriced bottle of Viognier. It appears that they had some ok standard decent and lower-priced options, but I wasn't looking for rose, vinho verde or chardonnay. I won't be back in Seattle for a while but I'm still interested in knowing there's a decent wine store there somewhere. read more
