Food is always good but horrible service today. Food finally showed more than 50 minutes after we came in. Server tried to say restaurant was just busy but multiple parties came in after us, ordered, ate and finished before our food showed. Then we had to wait for silverware. Never got a refill on my water. All from an extremely loud server who blamed everyone else instead of admitting he forgot to drop the order in the first place. I was finally able to check out this neighborhood joint and I was not disappointed! We opted to sit at the counter due to the wait, but the waiter servicing us was totally accommodating and it did not feel any different than at a table. The wait staff were all very helpful in recommendations and super enthusiastic about the food (which is a plus always). We ended up with the Cowboy papas (mound of potatoes smothered in green/red chili), the drizzle omelette (spinach, almonds, feta cheese, tomatoes) and the sweet combo. The peach jam (homemade) that came with the biscuit was amazing and everything else was delicious! A little bit big on the portion size, so all of us had leftovers to take home and enjoy. Not sure what happened to this place. Used to be really good. We stopped in Sunday morning wait was only about 10 mins (sign that this place is not as popular). I had the hillbilly and my wife a ham and cheese omelet. The omelet resembled a small Frisbee folded in half and was ice cold. They must have forgotten the cheese inside because only a pinch was on top on the outside. The ham was in giant cold chunks. The potatoes were shredded and crunchy, not cooked crispy crunchy but undercooked crunchy. We did not complain to the waitress Christine, but she noticed we were not eating. My wife literally ate half the piece of toast and left the rest. Instead of comping the plate, Christine charged us the full price. What a shame as we will not return. 10.00 for 2 bites of toast. We love to support local, but when stuff like this happens we have no choice but to move on. read more

I am visiting the Denver area with a friend and we decided to give Doug's a try. When we walked in they were busy but we were offered a spot at the counter for immediate seating. The counter is spacious and the atmosphere is very friendly. I ordered an omelette and my friend got the eggs Benedict. Both were delicious!! And our server Chris was very friendly and attentive. My friend cleaned her plate but I could not finish mine. I asked for a box to go and Chris asked if we would like coffee to go as well. We were shocked! Being from California this was something we have never experienced! No one gives away coffee! He brought us each a fresh coffee to go and more of the vanilla creamer we have previously requested. I told Chris he was an angel LOL!! My friend has already decided we will be back tomorrow for another amazing breakfast experience. I absolutely loved this place. The breakfast burritos were amazing . I got the tri tip papas with green chili . Let me tell you they were good and huge portions . I could probably just lick the sauce off a spoon. My boyfriend got the Asada burrito and it was a very big portion.he ate it all of course but what I tasted was phenomenal he got both gravy and green chili on the side and dipped the burrito into the sauces . We have finally discovered an amazing breakfast spot that isn't a chain! Doug's is tucked away in a strip, but right off S. Parker Road. Huge portions, reasonable prices, and o...m...g their green chile is amazeballs! Had the 'Papas', a bowl of hash browns smothered in cheese, adovada (slow roasted pork), with green Chile and topped with eggs. Add a little hot sauce and holy moly-yum! Oh and the griddle biscuits are also delish. All homemade, which is the best part. Now if we can just get them to offer bottomless mimosas! read more

Fabulous and creative take on comfort food . Nice to have a great local breakfast/lunch option without going into Denver. Sweet toast - french toast made with an organge batter very good, bacon thick great flavor. I had the Clint omlette very tasty just the right amount of ingredients, spinach,bacon and tomato and swiss cheese . lightly grilled Homemade sweet batter biscuit HUGE, nice homemade strawberry preserves. I did not have to pay extra for anything.. the 'browns" quite good made from shredded baked potatoe puts a nice crust on the final product. We ate Syrup in Cherry Creek a couple weeks ago and Dougs Day Dinner is equal to any Cherry Creek breakfast establishment. Was invited to try this on a Thursday morning before we checked out the Broncos last public training camp day. I had the "Taos" plate which was delicious. I'm a green chile snob who buys it by the bushel (always hold the tomatoes mine please!) and this was excellent. Taos plate is a mound of hash brown style potatoes loaded with ground turkey and very tasty chorIzo. I asked for basted eggs and the waitress wasn't rattled at all (sometimes this happens when you ordered basted eggs). Give this place a try! I couldn't eat it all. read more

I've eaten at Doug's Day Diner twice, and each time the food was served hot, fairly quickly, and was tasty to boot. From the outside, this diner is very plain Jane. But once you get inside, the tile floors and attractive booths near the window are very inviting. The open kitchen is large and gives the place an upscale diner feel. It's much cheerier on the inside than looking in. The service is efficient, but not very talkative. The menu offers breakfast and lunch dishes, lots of eggs, salads, burritos, and other sandwiches. I didn't notice pancakes, but I might have missed them. My sandwich was pretty good, and my omelet was even better. I had a healthy omelette with veggies and cheese, and that was a large enough portion to take home half the omelette for the next day's lunch. I like Doug's Day Diner, but it really is a day diner, and closes around 2 pm. They were polite and didn't kick us out when 2 pm arrived, though. We sat and talked until almost 2:30! read more

This place is by my parents' house and opened after I left for college. Now I have to come in every time I'm home. Everything I've had is great! Chiles, homemade hash browns, the green chile turkey sausage is unbelievable. Even the coffee (sometimes subpar in diners) is fantastic. I recommend it to anyone local or otherwise. read more

Terrific place for a filling hot breakfast. The wait staff is extremely friendly and the service is efficient and attentive. Huevos socorro were super spicy; however, I loved the crispiness of the potatoes and my eggs were perfectly over easy. My son had the sweet toast and said it was filling and cooked to perfection. We have been coming to Doug's for several years and have always enjoyed the staff and the food. We have recommended it to many people and raved about it as well. Sadly, not any more. Went in for breakfast the other day & it wasn't busy at all. We asked for a booth & the little gal sat us right away & was very sweet. Everything thing was great except for are waitress she forgot my straw & when I asked her for it she sighed & was put out but to top it off she never came back & once again I had to ask for one & when she finally brought it back she just threw it on the table. The food was great but if you don't want to get treated like crap don't have Tonya wait on you. We'll keep going back because we love the food but NEVER again will I have her wait on us!!
