Looks like the secret us out. This place is a hit and unfortunately now is at the point where you have to wait to get s table usually, wait to put your order in then for it to arrive. Luckily had no other pending things to do so chatted with my friends while waiting. It's all worth it tho...food is always great but this time my eggs were runny when ordered medium(even the whites). Taos papas. Mound of potatoes and onions with sausage and chorizo smothered in salsa verde with two eggs on top. Un-freakin-real. Perfectly balanced flavors. Just right amount of heat, and I can tolerate much more. Great staff. Great coffee, which they loaded me up with for my 2-hr drive. We LOVE this cute little diner. We have been to Doug's 4 times, once for lunch, twice for breakfast, and once for take out. Everything has been amazing. From their soups & sandwiches, to their breakfasts. They have a fun menu with great funny names for their items. Portions are very big, and all food has great flavor. Love their Papas with a thicker cut pile of hashbrowns, bacon gravy, THICK strip bacon, M&M and Smores pancakes, and service. My hubby loves the chicken fried chicken. Not the best time at Doug's. My biggest pet peeve is when no one working says anything to you. We stood at the front for 5+ min without being acknowledged. The person behind us went up and a waitress asked him to write his name on the list. Weird service to me. Obviously they were rushed. When we finally sat down the booth was soaked from the busboy wiping it down. Maybe I'm being too picky. Sat down, still no one came by for 10+ min. I have been here three times, all for breakfast. Took me a few visits to know exactly how to rate this place since it has highs and lows. The service has been friendly each time. I love that it is locally owned and the restaurant is very clean. The decor is mountain/country, they have framed photographs on the wall from a local artist of landscapes and people in cowboy clothing. The booths are comfy and I like that they offer counter seating as on a busy weekend its nice not to wait for a table. They have really delicious, grandmas hot cakes and that is why I keep returning here. For a plate of hotcakes it is $5. I do not splurge for the "real" maple syrup since it is a $2.00 up charge but the "un-real" maple syrup works just fine for me. Since I have never tried it I cannot comment on whether or not it is worth the additional cost but I have a hard time paying $7 for pancakes. The coffee is really good; they serve it in clear, glass, pedestal mugs which is different from the diner average of beige, ceramic mugs. I really do not like the breakfast sausage, which is unfortunate since normally that is one of my favorite breakfast indulgences. It is really overpowered with spices and somewhat dry just leaves a very strange taste that I wouldn't associate with breakfast sausage. The gravy on the B&G is disappointing. It lacks in flavor and I am used to there being bits of pork in it, their version does not have that. The griddle biscuits however are very tasty and I could eat one of those again. Price wise, depending on what you order can be a bit high for breakfast. However they have large portions so you could share a plate if price is concerning for you. I will continue to visit Doug's Day Diner for the delicious hot cakes and coffee but not on a routine basis. Someday I may even try lunch. read more

DELICIOUS!!! We stopped in for a late breakfast. The service is top notch, and every dish (4 of us, two kids) was loved. The browns with eggs and green chile was my dish, and it was indulgent but not too heavy. The server let me try the red and green chile sauce to make a decision... I met my friend at Doug's today. It was my first time there and the food was really good. Our waitress, Kris, was amazing. She was so friendly and efficient. We didn't have to wait for anything. Every menu item is awesome, it is always clean and reliable, the staff is consistently friendly and helpful, and it is reasonably priced. My only complaint... the coffee - they need to serve better coffee. The fact that they do so many other things well only makes their coffee taste even worse. I don't know what the hype is with this establishment.This place is no better than the pancake house. Overpriced, mediocre food, and lousy service. Not a lot of seating and the hostess did little to turn over tables that sat empty for well over ten minutes while there was a minimum wait of 25 minutes or longer... It may just be this Doug's, but the wait staff is in need of some training or replacement. The busser puts on a good demonstration in efficiency. Each time I have found something that I really enjoy for breakfast, and the people I have been with each time, have enjoyed their breakfasts as well. In the land of chains, Doug's stands out in that they make the vast majority of their foods, green chili, preserves, sausage, etc., in house. I have been coming to Doug's for many years now and my great experiences have kept me coming back. I love the cozy, homey, space which is abundant in windows and light. The service is a bit spotty: sometimes it will be really excellent, but sometimes it's detached and inconsiderate. The food, however is always great!! As someone who enjoys creamer in her coffee, I adore that they offer three to four different creamer flavors. Food is absolutely scrumptious. We've never eaten a bad thing here. Love this place. This was one of the first places we tried when we moved to Colorado. They have great breakfast and great lunch (obviously not open for dinner). I love their omelettes for breakfast and sandwiches for lunch. Also a big thing I love that I get with their breakfast omelettes is their wheat toast. It is the best bread in the world. This place is always busy and always delicious! I've only ever been for Sunday brunch, but every time it has been delicious and well worth the wait. The thick cut bacon is divine, as are the griddle biscuits with jam! The staff is friendly, efficient and knowledgeable. The only gripes I have is that there isn't any seating while waiting to be seated. One Sunday I noticed there was only one man bussing tables so when several got up at once, it still took a while to be seated. I don't know if wait staff should be involved in this process or just have more bussers on at a time. Overrated and Overpriced!! I do not know why their are so many 5 star reviews. My wife and I are not strangers to good breakfast. We are usually regulars at Toast, on Santa Fe and Bowles and today we decided to do something different. We went to Dougs this morning, with the intent of having a fabulous breakfast based off of all of these "raving reviews".....only to be seriously let down. First of all, if you decide to go here, get there early. This place is a lil' bit bigger than a cafe and they might be lucky if they can squeeze 50-60 people in. Secondly, the price Doug charges for what you get is ridiculous....me and my wife paid 25 bucks for a Whimpie-Papas and a Black-betty burger. Food was mediocre at best and the portion i got for the Whimpies was unacceptable The only reason i ordered "Whimpie" was because one fellow yelper made it sound as if the Papas was this gigantic sized portion, so... I was well aware that the Whimpie was half of the Papas, but if it is half the portion it should also be half of the price!!! Not even worth 8 bucks, maybe 6, and to top it all off they served it to me in a bowl....a bowl, like the one they would serve oatmeal or cereal flakes out of...seriously Doug??! My wife said her burger was "Okay", but it did not warrant the 11 dollar price tag, and having a bunch of people hovering over you at the counter while your trying to eat because Doug can not accommodate all of them pretty much sealed the deal to never return to this place again. read more

This place is FANTASTIC! Happened across Doug's while visiting family in Centennial over the Holidays and didn't know what to expect. The decor is pleasant, but nothing super special. Our server was spot-on. The food was the very high point. My son and I both ordered eggs, pancakes and bacon. The bacon was cooked to perfection, the pancakes were large, fluffy and had whole blueberries in them. I will definitely visit Doug's the next time I am in the area! read more
