Ordered a beef dip, turkey on roll, and the turkey bacon club sandwich. The fries were cold as if they had been sitting for quite some time before being delivered. The turkey bacon club sandwich was soggy. The turkey sandwich was acceptable, the beef dip. Was not happy overall. *This isn't so much about the food quality as it is customer service.* I came back here bc I thought well, the patties are thin so I'll just get a double with bacon to compensate. I ordered a double bacon cheeseburger with no tomato and they didn't put the bacon in there. However, I was about halfway through the burger when I realized this so I went back and they told me my only options were to pay for the bacon or for them to make me a completely new cheeseburger while my fries continued to go cold. Apparently I "didn't order a double bacon cheeseburger" I "ordered a double cheeseburger". I know what I ordered and I definitely said bacon. This wasn't my error, it was the cashier's. The defensive owner himself is the one who told me this and I found it bewildering and frankly quite rude. No customer service skills at all. Why wouldn't you just give the customer what they asked for? I hardly think two slices of bacon should be this big of a deal to give to someone who ordered it. I was not going to pay for someone else's mistake. They should have accepted their fault and not just blame me. I will not be returning. read more

This place is clutch. We go here a couple times a month because it's cheap and delicious! I secretly call everyone there Mr & Mrs Douglas since it seems like a family owned restaurant. I get the corndogs and chili cheese fries, spouse gets the bacon burger and zucchini fries and they're so good! They give two ranches and ALWAYS ask if we want chilis. Love it! We recommend taking the lid off the food to keep the zucchini fries crisp once you get the food and if you go for drive thru please enter the drive thru off of telegraph lastly, the food is always hot! read more

Let me start of by saying this place is my #1 for many years now. I have been coming here since I can remember. Their food is AMAZING!!! Their hard shell tacos OMG!!! Also their chili cheese fries,Chicken sandwiches , pastrami the fries! I can go on and on... No matter what time of the day this place is always busy but they get you out fast. It's a bummer that their dinning area isn't open because I really would like to dine in with my family and keep the tradition going with my son. This spot has always been delicious but after like 30 plus years of consistency and now the kids of the kids who where here when this was established are now middle aged with our kids telling us "Omg have you been to Douglas?" We got a few different things, but I really wanted a burger and fries so I didn't taste anything else we ordered. The burger was good...thin patty, lots of bacon...I forgot to tell them to add cheese, but it was good with their sauce (thousand Island, but there could have been a smidge more), shredded lettuce, tomato, onions, and pickles. The fries were crispy and fresh...and not salted. As soon as we arrived home, I salted them right away. We also got a regular burger, a BLT sandwich, and a pastrami sandwich. Everyone seemed happy with their choices. Quick and easy dinner without a lot of fuss. I would suggest asking for extra sauce in the burger because it was a tad bit dry. I've been going to Douglas since I was a child and have always had good experiences but recently items have either not been placed in my bag and/ or I have been over charged. When I talked to the lady charging me about being overcharged she got upset and was rude. They overcharged me $7-$8. I asked for the receipt but they usually don't give the receipt. Honestly, it was just a burrito. In fact, I'm pretty sure the cheese was a sandwich cheese slice. Who does that? It pales in comparison to Paul's Place (Buena Park), Tam's Burgers and Mike's Burgers (La Mirada) among other places I've been. In fact, they don't even bring the food to your table like most places I frequent. Not a complaint, just an observation. The only reason I gave 2 stars is because I can't give 1 1/2. I have come here my whole life. The owner and his son are the nicest people. They always greet us and ask how the family is and remember our orders. The cooks are always smiling and everyone has been there for so long which shows what a great business it is. I cannot stress how great the customer service is from the guys here. I always get the chili cheese fries. They are the BEST, I haven't found anywhere better. They put so much cheese and chili that it is in every bite. They always have the best zucchini fries, again I haven't had anywhere else better than these. They don't make them salty. So I was too hungry to take a photo of my burger unfortunately. It was satisfying but it didn't leave that "I'll definitely be back" impression. They do serve you an abundant amount of yummy fries though. Although the burger didn't leave a lasting impression, the employees did. The customer service was excellent. The owner even said "have a great day" on our way out. And I absolutely love hospitality like that. My dad use to have a church in front of this place. That is how I found this awesome fast food restaurant. I love Douglas. To be honest, I only get the chili cheese fries. I have tried their other foods like burgers, but I'm just hooked on their fries. The staff here is very friendly and they treat me very good. I think Douglas has hands down the best chili cheese fries. I always go to other places and try their chili cheese fries and there is always something wrong with them. Either the fries are those skinny nasty ones or the meat is super salty. At Douglas, they just make them perfect. I love the meat they use and they put the yellow cheese on top, but the meat is so hot that once you start moving the fries around the cheese starts to melt. I think I'm just passionate about these fries. I have been coming here for about 5 years maybe. I don't live in Whittier anymore, but I still drive all the way from Los Angeles just to get my fries. I always bring my friends too and some love it others think they are okay. Some think I'm crazy to brag about there fries. I'm not the only one. All my sisters love them too. Besides their chili cheese fries, it is a cool place to hang out and eat. They try to keep it clean. They have their own parking lot and there is always parking. I love you Douglas. I have an idea.
