They have iced donuts, filled donuts, twists and fritters, and even though everything is vegan (I'm a happy omnivore, all the donuts I've tried manage to be delicious and decadent. They always have one flavor with LGBTQIA+ theme color glitter on top, but get there early (before 11am!) if you want to snag them because they sell out fast! I discovered this donut shop last year. I have been visiting this spot whenever I wander around the Sunday farmer's market. They have a rainbow of flavors. Some of the donuts are traditional, but there is still something special about them that I can't quite pinpoint... It could be the texture. I was very impressed with my initial visit to Dough Joy. I got the Pumpkin Spice donut and it's the best classic donut I've had in Seattle to date. It was so incredibly fluffy, not overly sweet, and the flavor was spot on. I would love to come back and try more flavors. The interior is small, cute, and very pink. Not only are these vegan donuts amazing....but they're certainly in the race for my favorite area donuts in general! I went with a friend who had purchased off Too Good To Go and she had no idea they were even vegan after eating them. The aesthetic of the place was cute and the staff was friendly. I also checked out Botanic at the Disco (the plant store they share a space with) and was wildly impressed by the cat-safe section of plants (and of course the asthetic of the shop. I visited this place once and think it is is good, but over rated. First, a donut should not be $4, even if it is vegan. Second, the donut holes were oozing oil - yuk! The donut holes and donuts all around at White Center's Good Day Donuts are hands down better. I would give Dough Joy churro donut a 4 star, but again, want something comparable and not $4? Go to the Original Bakery on Friday and get the Apple Sauce Donut, now that's an amazing donut. Just found out about this place, funny bc I drove past it every day and never noticed it despite the pink outside. I was a little hesitant at first when I was told it was a vegan donut place... however don't let that deter you this place is delicious I got there in the afternoon an hour before they closed they still had about 5 or 6 types left. We got chocolate, donut holes, churro and strawberry milkshake!! The texture is super light like biting into a cloud of goodness with the right amount of oil as to not dry it out. I love this cute little vegan doughnut shop. It is easy to get to in West Seattle. The carry a variety of flavors to satisfy all tastes. If no one told you they were vegan, you would absolutely never know. The cream filled donuts taste exactly like you would expect. The doughnuts themselves are light and fluffy and perfectly fried. I like to call them my homer simpson donut spot, because they are the epitome of perfect cartoon donut. The rotating flavors are delicious and fun. The Pride glitter flags in June made me very happy. Only tried the sea salt chocolate twist and iced coffee, but was not impressed. The doughnut was pretty raw inside, the drizzle of milk chocolate did not have enough flavor to compliment the sea salt, which was hidden on only on one side of the doughnut. My iced coffee had a sugary cake doughnut hole pushed over the straw, which I most emphatically did not want. I had to get in my car, put down my purse and bag so I could pull the donut hole off and throw it away. Didn't even finish the donut I actually paid for, and that never happens with me. I'm not sure why I haven't written a review of this place because I LOVE their donuts. These are the best vegan donuts I have ever had, which is why I try and get my hands on them at least once every two weeks or so. Light and fluffy and delicious - as opposed to the dense vegan hockey pucks that some other places offer. Staff is always friendly and warm - no matter which location you go to. As an added bonus, I love that this place is queer owned and that one can just saunter in and grab a Pride- themed edible-glitter donut. I can't speak to the gluten free donuts they offer now because I haven't tried them, but my GF friends seem to like them. read more

They have pretty large and yummy donuts with rotating upscale flavors like lemon poppy seed and s'mores (with a roasted marshmallow topper!!). Cool drinks have straws pushed through donut holes. I've never had a bad doughnut here. I've tried several different flavors and they've all been delicious. They are light and airy, but also filling. I saw someone complaining about the price but I think they are affordable considering they use natural ingredients. I've been following Dough Joy for awhile now since they were just a 'lil donut truck in Ballard. They did a kickstarter some time ago for their Cap Hill space and I was attracted to it because they wanted to offer gluten free (and do it right for people with legit allergies). While they haven't done anything with gluten free (and I'm not sure they will continue to try) they have opened the cutest little shop here in my West Seattle neighborhood. So close! This was big news since before when the bridge was closed travelling downtown was basically a nightmare. Having something "on the island" was big. So, sadly, I can't actually eat their donuts but they look and smell amazing. My husband is allergic to dairy and egg so I will often get some for him and he says they are fantastic (and so does everybody I know that has tried and does not have an allergy or is vegan). Everyone at the shop is friendly and outgoing. There is often a line but they get through people quickly. They coffee menu is small and even smaller if you cannot have caffeine (they have hot chocolate or strawberry lemonade) and if you are allergic to gluten be sure to let them know if you order a drink because they garnish the drinks with a little donut hole. Cute idea if you can eat them! They also have opened a darling little plant shop adjacent to the donuts with the best glitter floor ever. Leaving Seattle and headed back to Los Angeles and definitely going to miss this little place! Vibe is perfect with the coolest plant shop right next door! Vegan donuts not only are great and not too sweet but gorgeous, making perfect gifts for teachers, nurses, office staff etc! Totally inclusive and delicious! A bit pricey but worth it in my opinion. This summer I have tried maybe half of the coffee shops in west Seattle (and thats a lot!) and this has been one of my favorite lattes (with oat milk?! I probably would never have tried it and known I liked it!). Dough Joy is a must try if you're in the area! The atmosphere of the place was as joyful as the treats themselves. The owner had flour dust on his clothes and you can tell how much he loves and nurtures his creations.
