    Pork fried rice with hair!

We ordered take out from here on June 26th. Only to find what looked like a literal pubic hair in the bottom of my husband's pork fried rice container. He called to let them know and the lady just started arguing with him. Since we live close by we decided to go in and show her. She continued to argue with him for over 3 minutes including telling him he wastes food! I recorded the entire interaction. A coworker then pointed out the hair mixed into the last bit of rice to her and she then apologized and refunded are money. As we were leaving one of the cooks were standing at the kitchen backdoor smoking around what appeared to be food bags and buckets in the kitchen. This place has always been hit or miss when it comes to the food quality and service. I'm betting they would fail a health inspection!

This is the worst non flavor cold Chinese food I have ever had. I rate it a zero. Overpriced and does not taste like anything. No flavor and the food looked old. Worst 65 dollars I've wasted in a long time. Don't waste your money.

Chowmein at this restaurant means bean sprouts and corn starch sauce.

My fiance planned a wonderful mountain getaway for us, and lucky for me- we had dinner reservations here. It was so chilly in December, We had a cold mountain day, and we bundled up to go to our dinner reservations and I have to say- I wasn't expecting much when I heard the name "Grill". I was thinking- burgers, fries, your typical post-ski grub. I was wrooong! We strolled into the coziest little restaurant and were greeted by the two lovely people working there. Felt like I very sweet family vibe. They steered us in the directions of the pasta dishes we ordered, and we had the Soup of the Day to start- I believe it was some kind of Tomato bisque and that hit the spot. The Hazelnut pasta was a hit for my fiance, and I loved that he got to try such a classic Oregon flavor in a pasta- how fun. My chanterelle ravioli filled me up so fast, I also loved being able to try chanterelles in this format. Both dishes felt very creative and full of so much Oregon pride! Delicious!

Prices are pretty high but we've found that the quality is consistently good, though this year felt a bit less. I enjoyed a patty melt with sweet potato fries. Kids grilled cheeses also were enjoyed. Hamburger was good, though I liked the patty melt more. The alfredo and cod were just average. For desert, I got the chocolate torte, which was a big letdown (especially since it cost $15!). I may decide to try a new place next year.

Their generous portions of crab boil--complete with potatoes, corn, sausage, and egg--have always made it feel like a great value, especially compared to other crab boil restaurants. Their Cajun butter sauce remains outstanding and is still one of my favorites. Previously located at the Happy Valley food carts, The Kracked Crab has since moved to a new location. Unfortunately, it's not immediately obvious they're in a food court setting, as the building signage only says "Sunny Sides," which made it a bit difficult to find. This was my first visit to their new location, and while I was genuinely excited to return with my daughter for a pre-movie dinner, the experience fell short of expectations. We already knew what we wanted to order--two #3 Legilicious meals--but upon arrival, there seemed to be confusion at the counter with the two groups ahead of us. The ordering process felt disorganized and lacked a sense of urgency. It appeared that the main staff member was working alone, possibly being trained by a manager or owner who was intermittently present. Our food took over 45 minutes to be prepared, which was surprising given the limited number of customers. This delay caused us to rush through our meal in order to make our movie on time. When the food finally arrived, the presentation and quality were noticeably different from past visits. The crab appeared less fresh, with some pieces looking freezer-burnt, and while the portion seemed large at first glance, much of it consisted of thinner crab legs, and a little watery. That said, the Cajun butter sauce was still excellent--rich, flavorful, and as memorable as always. A small bright spot was the care taken in packing our leftovers. The owner kindly ensured everything was sealed well so the buttery sauce wouldn't spill in the car. I especially appreciate this because I enjoy repurposing the potatoes and sausage the next morning for breakfast. Despite this less-than-stellar experience, The Kracked Crab is still my favorite seafood spot. I sincerely hope they're able to return to their previous standards in both crab quality and service speed. I'll definitely be giving them another chance.

We decided to try them out. We planned on having one to go, so we can enjoy them in the comfort of our home, and take our time. We were lucky we did that! We ordered one Full Catch (2 clusters, 12 shrimp, that includes potatoes, egg, sausage & corn on the cob). It was a perfect combo for two of us! We picked the Garlic Parmesan Drips. It was tasty, from beginning to end. A lot of work! It was messy! It was different and interesting. It was spendy! We've been eating the Oregon Dungeness Crab, but this was so much sweeter, you can really taste the difference! It was PERFECT!

They have a small and cozy dining hall that was full. I had all ready had an idea of what I would order but quickly looked at the menu just in case I wanted to take additional item home. I ordered papaya salad, pad see ew, and tom ka soup. I also got a thai tea to go. I might have waited 15-20 minutes for my order. There were also several call in orders that people came in to pick up. I am surprised at the speed they produced the food. The bench seat had a small view of the kitchen. I believe this is a very efficient full fledged family restaurant. Everyone was friendly and nice. The way they packaged the food was thoughtful. I had a 20 minute drive back home. It stayed warm /hot and no leakage even with the soup. Now the food: Papaya salad was delicious. Great flavor. My only issue is it was marked on the menu as spicy. *Morgan Freeman voice* -it was not in fact spicy. It was completely spice free. I know that SE asians are sweet to profile us pale people as no heat, but I was really looking forward to spice.... So for next time I will request heat added as I am a non-practicing alabaster person. To be fair, every fair complexion person with a togo order clarified that their food was "non spicy." I can't call them out for playing it safe. Yes queens. Pad see ew: shrimp was my protein. It was delicious. Regular broccoli was used. Chinese broc might be out of season. I don't care. It was great. Will eat again FR. Tom ka soup: the gem of this story. They made it without onions, be praised, as I have a horrible allergy and most of my one star food reviews are about food safety in relationship to ignoring food allergies. This was fresh, flavorful, bright. Great protein to both ratio. Probably one of the best versions I have ever had. Will be ordering again. Probably regularly. Thai tea: was great. Ice, tea, milk ratio good. I like less ice in my drinks... she somehow knew this. Now I know if I want Thai I have a place to call Thai Home (see what I did there), that I won't have to drive twice the distance to Portland to get fantastic Thai food. Honestly, I think this is way better than most of the thai restaurants in the greater portland area. Thank you for a wonderful dinner and subsequent left overs! 10/10.

Stopped in for our 4th or 5th visit to celebrate my wife's birthday last Friday night April 17th…read more.. The Cove has always been a great choice in the past for special dinners/occasions. Unfortunately this time, we left very disappointed. My wife has a sensitivity to spicy foods. Upon ordering appetizers for the table, we asked if any of them (that had a spicy description on the menu) had the option to have the sauce on the side. She proceeded to ask how the scallops were and went ahead with that order. There was absolutely no description of having any spicy component on the menu nor any mention by the server. Upon her first bite of the risotto, she went into a severe coughing fit :( I tasted it and acknowledged how spicy it was. She proceeded to just eat the scallops. We were mostly done when the waiter came to check on us ... My wife asked if the dish is typically spicy. Response was "oh yes" ... It was completely lost on us why he wouldn't have mentioned that to her upon ordering knowing how she questioned the appetizers. His offer at this point was a new meal .. which was nice but we were mostly done. There really wasn't much in the way of sincerity beyond that. It seems the right thing to have done was offer my wife (celebrating her birthday) who didn't enjoy her meal ... maybe a comp'd drink or maybe a dessert (no acknowledgment of her birthday at all. When you spend north of $300 ... Disappointing to say the least. Upon leaving, I decided to just express my concern to the hostess and suggested adding the spice level of this specific entree to the menu. I reaffirmed my wife didn't get to fully enjoy her meal. I received a lukewarm "thanks for letting us know." The worst part of the whole experience was a manager/owner type was a few steps behind her, made eye contact and was fully aware i had an issue and made absolutely no attempt to come over and address the complaint. I no longer blame the waiter for his lack of concern knowing it flows from the top. We all go out and spend top dollar at nice restaurants for good food but also, for service and the experience. The restaurant has been opened awhile and maybe is established enough where this isn't as much of a priority as it was early on. In contrast, we went out the night before to a more established fave restaurant of ours in Portland (Ava Genes). Had an incredible meal, incredible experience, and uber attentive service. They even went the extra mile and made a big deal that we chose them to celebrate. Ended our evening with a simple complimentary scoop of gelato/candle. It was a nice touch. Certainly didn't mind spending the $$$ for that evening. I wouldn't dissuade anyone from trying The Cove if they've never been (I'm hopeful they just had a bad night) ... but there are so many good choices out there, it will most certainly make us think twice before going back.
