I am SO picky when it comes to Chinese food, and this little hole in the wall place is my favorite! I am a huge stickler when it comes to consistency of chicken and my biggest complaint in about 99% of Chinese restaurants is that the chicken pieces are big, soft, and mushy. But not here, the pieces are small and have a nice crisp on them. My favorite thing I've tried so far is the BLACK PEPPER CHICKEN!!!! Yum. The prices are amazing. They have great lunch combos and dinner combos. The portion sizes are great also. My boyfriend can EAT, a lot, and he couldn't even finish it all and said it was a great sized portion. If you go right when they open or in the middle of the day it can smell like bleach inside, but don't let that scare you off. The food is amazing and, hey, at least you know it's clean!!!! The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because I haven't tried a lot of things on the menu and I tried a boba tea drink and it was pretty horrible :( and I LOVE boba tea. Not impressed. My son loves their Crab Puffs and had a hankering for some Chinese food the other night, so we ordered from here. Kung Pao chicken was good. Beef and Broccoli was good. Chicken Fried rice - that we paid extra for - consisted of white rice with soy sauce (see attached picture). Egg rolls were smaller than average and smaller than other Chinese places in the area. Some of the dishes are smaller portions than near by competitors, but I can recommend certain items that are really good. I think the best thing here is the Black Pepper Chicken. Other places have this dish but they just don't make it the same way. It is a bit sweet but I love the taste. We ate here a few weeks ago to try it out. The food was fine. Nothing special, but adequate Americanized Chinese food. They had a little girl, maybe 3 years old, wandering loose in the restaurant. She kept coming over to our table and hovering around, and it made us uncomfortable having an unsupervised child there. That isn't safe! But we figured we'd usually get food delivered from then on, which should eliminate the random kid problem. We ordered food for delivery last night. It took a while to get there, but I understand it was a busy Saturday night. When I opened the bag, I realized they had shorted us a wonton soup. The soup was one of the reasons we'd ordered, since my husband was feeling a bit under the weather. I called the restaurant and they didn't seem concerned. They said they could give us a credit towards our next order. I told them I wasn't sure there would be a "next order," given their indifference toward their mistake and general lack of customer service. Then they said they could deliver the soup, but it would take another hour. I said that was fine and we'd be waiting. In the meantime, we decided to eat the rest of our meals. Our sesame chicken was very dry and overcooked, and just didn't taste good - nothing like when we ate at the restaurant. My egg drop soup was lukewarm. The crab puffs and egg rolls were fine, but we just kind of picked at our entrees. And of course, they never sent our other soup. We will never call or eat at Double Dragon again. I was really excited when I got the marketing pamphlet on my front door that there was a Chinese restaurant in Katy that actually served Bourbon chicken. I was like whaaaaaaaaat. By far the best Chinese food in the area, but stick to delivery. They do let you eat-in but the restaurant is zero atmosphere and only really serves to get you in and out. It's small and hardly anyone is ever in there. They obviously make their cash on delivery. Delivery people fly in and out the door the entire time you are there if you dine in. My mother was confused to what she kept saying regarding the meals and she kept raising her voice at her. I had to grab the phone and ask why she was being rude. I. AM. A. FAN. OF. CHINESE. TAKEOUT. I love the fantastic tupperware worthy takeout dishes they send your food in. I love the assortment of fortune cookies they send so you can pick through them and decide on the one that will assign your latest fate. I love it even more when it's delicious and with my previous favorite takeout place dwindling in quality, we decided it was time to branch out and try our other options. Having just received a menu/flyer tacked to the door of our house, it seemed natural, we order from Double Dragon. Pick-up order was ready in 15 min. and it went down. Honey Crispy Chicken, Chicken Lo-Mein and Tangy Spicy Chicken with an order of Egg Rolls (2/order) came to about $26 a MUCH better price than what I'm used to. I had read the reviews before hand (and again, my fellow Yelpers were right) the egg rolls were really small but they were tasty. Probably the best part of the whole meal though. All of the dishes were mushy, too soft, like baby food texture. Honey Crispy Chicken- too soft and it was nearly all breading. Nothing about the dish was crispy and I didn't really get a taste of honey Tangy Spicy Chicken- was decent, flavored with jalapenos and some red chiles, a non-breaded dish which I would keep on my list of go to dishes in the event I need to order from this place again Chicken Lo Mein- the lo mein is a staple order for me but certainly not everyone gets it right. In this case, the flavor was good but the noodles were overcooked. Too mushy and I couldn't overlook it despite the flavor being good. Boooo. . . . . Another boooo. . . . no teriyaki chicken!! This is the second place within delivery distance of my house that doesn't serve teriyaki chicken!!! This is just crazy to me but I sort of expected it. On my quest to find the best Chinese Food delivery in my area, I keep coming back to this one. I find it interesting they sometimes use jalapenos instead of red peppers to make things spicy. I love jalapenos though, so I don't mind. What I have ordered that was note-worthy: Tangy Spicy Chicken - it came with broccoli, carrots, and snow peas. It came with I believe two more but I left them out. (onions?) It was alright, but I wouldn't order it again. General Tso's Chicken - my Aunt's favorite. There were jalapenos, but it still tasted like Chinese food and it was good. Szechuan Dumpling Appetizer - Steamed Dumplings in what I can only describe as a peanuty Szechuan sauce. OHMY! These were awesome! I definitely recommend adding some of these babies to every order. Yum! Mongolian Beef - It was your average mid grade Mongolian Beef. Nothing special. Special Wonton Soup - I expected other meat, shrimp, and some veggies, but I didn't expect broccoli (Is that normal?) It was tasty, but I took the broccoli out to eat separately. They were lighter and smaller. My only complaint is the delivery was slow, and they did not provide enough fortune cookies or soy sauce with the delivery. My new favorite is the beef and asparagus. In fact, when I get chinese food with friends I always judge "their" choice against Double Dragon. The food is delicious. I've never had a bad dish. The Black Pepper Chicken is amazeballs, and that's the first time I've ever used that word. The egg rolls are perfect, and the crust doesn't crack and flake apart into a mess when you break them in half or bite into them. Food always arrives VERY hot, and the driver is courteous. We just moved to the area, and I ordered dinner for delivery based on the positive reviews already written. I was definitely not disappointed. The crab rangoon was some of the best I've ever had, and the portion was generous for the price. The shrimp in my shrimp with garlic sauce were huge, and even the shrimp in the shrimp fried rice were a nice medium size, relative to the extra tiny ones I have come to expect. Egg rolls were good, if smaller than expected, but the texture made up for the size. My wife ordered teriyaki chicken, as she is a picky eater, and enjoyed it as well. The pork fried rice is a little greasy, but sometimes that's exactly what you crave in Chinese take out. The pork dumplings are a serious affair, with thick, soft dough and hearty filling. We like them fried. Also good is Kung Pow Beef. The spice is mild, but it can sneak up on you towards the end of the plate. The service can use a little work. This is our go to for Chinese delivery even though there are at least 3 closer to us. Our regular order consists of pork fried rice, boneless pork bbq with extra sauce and sweet and sour delight. A mixture of chicken, pork and shrimp. Oh and the special rolls are good too. Delivery is almost always on the fast side rather than late. Once tried eating in, place didn't appeal much and took way longer than if I would have had it delivered. As someone said, typical Americanized Chinese food. Always friendly....usually call in order in the way home and it is very seldom more than 10 minutes before it's ready. When I call from home it ready to go when I arrive. Sweet and sour chicken, Kung Pao chicken and crab rangoons are fantastic. Egg rolls seem freshly made and all the rice dishes taste great.
