spicy pork bulgogi (제육볶음)
Tracey J.

Wow! This place came up in my suggested restaurants on Yelp, and I was so excited to try it that I went the next day for lunch. They don't have an actual dine-in location, so I ordered through Doordash and picked it up. The packaging was so cute as modern, hip Korean restaurants are often big on aesthetic. It came with a menu showing their sides for the day. I think it's such a cool & fun idea to switch up the sides daily. The included menu just added even more to the presentation. The best part was the food, of course. The food quality was top notch. I ordered the spicy pork bulgogi (제육볶음), and everything was so delicious. It's one of the best Korean restaurants that Austin has to offer, in my opinion. The portion sizes look small, but it's so filling that I was stuffed & still had leftovers. I also ordered the peach ade, which was tasty and refreshing. I'm happy that Dosirok has opened here, and I look forward to getting many more delicious lunches from them in the future!

WOW~~ Unbelievable ~~~~~| ordered Galbi(₴ HE) Box !! I didn't have high expectations, but the delivered food exceeded them with its high quality and delicious taste. The flavors were exceptional, and I was pleasantly surprised by the overall quality. Definitely a great option for those looking for a tasty meal delivered to their doorstep. I want to eat it every day ! Highly recommended.

chasu bento

this place is sooooo underrated. saw it on uber eats and decided to give it a shot-- best decision ever. I got the chasu dosirok and the pork was so tender. it's honestly pretty cheap if you consider the quality of food, presentation, and amount you get. please support this place!

The Beef Bulgogi box was FANTASTIC! The box included a variety of dishes besides beef bulgogi and rice, and everything was delicious! It made me whole, and I felt very content. The presentation was also excellent, and I was amazed by the food quality. The place had a locker for customer orders, and it was easy to pick up. DosiROK became my go-to Korean food spot!

We got delivery and it tasted great! The beef bulgogi was tender and delicious, and the iced coffee was strong and not too sweet.

We somehow snagged nearby street parking and a table for two with no wait despite it being a busy Saturday evening after a UT football game. Make a reservation if you have a large party or are on a tighter schedule. It's a bit loud for those seated in the lobby/entrance area, but totes a vibe. For food, we ordered the blackened catfish, brisket burnt ends quesadillas, and harvest bowl to share. Everything was delicious and served quickly, even with the aforementioned dinner rush. 10/10 would order the same items again. I was so appreciative of the server splitting the entree over two plates without us asking. Did I mention the complimentary popcorn and cornbread? Twas a FEAST. I'm already thinking about the next time we're going back! If not for Moonshine, definitely for the speakeasy downstairs.

We arrived and in a few minutes we were seated at a table and immediately given water in mason jars and asked for our drink order. I opted just got an Arnold Palmer but the drink menu had some cute cocktails and mocktails, as well as a nice selection of beer and wine. Instead of bread, our server brought us a basket of seasoned popcorn. The popcorn had almost like a Cajun flair, but it wasn't spicy. It reminded me of the Ground Round chain from when I was a little girl. We decided to try the corndog shrimp appetizer. I couldn't decide on an entree because everything looked so good, so I did the Parmesan chicken and my coworker did the steak salad. The shrimp arrived so quickly with four large pieces of shrimp on a stick wrapped in corn dog batter and fried to a golden brown, with a blueberry mustard dipping sauce. The shrimp were delicious and while I didn't get much of the blueberry in the mustard, I enjoyed the sweetness it provided. My Parmesan chicken was a crispy and juicy breaded chicken cutlet with a lemon cream, artichoke hearts, and what appeared to be prosciutto on top. It was served with a side of pesto couscous with grape tomatoes and cucumbers. I wish I had ordered mashed potatoes on the side, because I wanted something to soak up the lemon cream sauce, which was the highlight of the chicken. We also were served 3 mini cornbread muffins with honey butter. My coworker said the salad was just okay, and was a little on the small side. The desserts were definitely a MUST and if you visit Moonshine and don't save room for the Espresso Brownie or the Peanut Butter Pie, you're going to regret it. The brownie was so fudgey and warm and served with ice cream. It was decadent. The peanut butter pie was the biggest slab of PB pie I've ever had with a thick Oreo crust. I wish I had someone with me to share it, it was huge. Overall, if I lived in the area I would definitely be back to try other things.

I was impressed with the chicken fried steak and the complimentary corn muffins and sweet potato biscuits. I even got a slice of sweet potato pie once near Thanksgiving. But Hoover's closed down the S.A. restaurant a few months later. No biggie. I'll just go dine at the original one in Austin. A few months later on a rainy and ugly day in Austin in March 2006 I rode the bus from downtown to here. The restaurant was huge and roomy and I got seated but had to wait a long time for a waiter and left as soon as I saw people that got seated after me got served first. A few months later I rode the bus to here and got seated and was served by a young white guy who seemed exhausted and wanted to be anywhere except work. 20 years later I found out the sad news that Hoover's last day in business would be today May 31,2026. I drove here from San Antonio and noticed how much the restaurant has changed. It got smaller inside. Maybe the 2020 pandemic had something to do with that. I got seated and waited on by a friendly black waiter and ordered an Arnold Palmer and a cup of gumbo for an appetizer which was good, hot and satisfying. For the entree I got the chicken fried steak with black eyed peas and buttered spinach. The sides were okay but the CFS was a bit tough when I cut into it. For dessert, a slice of chocolate cream pie was the perfect way to end the meal. I came here one last time last week and got here earlier than I had arrived last time. I was waited on by a Hispanic waiter who seemed friendly but I had a weird feeling he was staring at me weird whenever he left my table. For appetizer I ordered a small cornbread and 2 biscuit muffins. They no longer served the free corn muffins and sweet potato biscuits like they used to serve 20 years ago. I got the Jamaican jerk chicken and a hot sausage link with cowboy beans and coleslaw. The beans were great and the slaw was okay. The perk chicken seemed a bit dry but good and the sausage was good but not as spicy as I expected. The cornbread was good and so were the biscuit muffins that were big for just 99 cents a pop. I ordered the banana pudding for dessert and that was a good conclusion to my last meal here at Hoover's. Hoover's Cooking is an Austin original that will be greatly missed. I hope whatever restaurant that moves into this soon to be vacant space will serve good food at an affordable price and won't be like the other places on Manor that serve outrageous prices for food that is just mediocre or subpar.

You can't go wrong, everything on the menu is a hit. We shared appetizers, like the queso w/chips and the cornbread. I ordered the special, the hamsteak and jezebel, with sides salad, mac n cheese, and with a sausage link because why not. I had to remember to save room for dessert because the cheesecake here is amazing! I had the chocolate and cranberry cheesecake, which is worth every bite. The service is also excellent. They know they're closing but that did not stop them from taking care of our group like we were family. Our group enjoyed every bit of the experience. I hope to make it back again. This place has too many good memories and we will miss every bit of it. Get some merch!

Fantastic breakfast and an even better server!…read more We had an absolutely great experience at Phoebe's Diner Downtown. Our server, Halley, deserves HUGE praise. She was friendly, attentive, welcoming, and made the whole experience that much better. Everyone we encountered was genuinely friendly and happy to be there. The food was delicious and cooked perfectly. I had the Badass Bacon & Eggs ($14.99) and it was outstanding. The eggs were cooked perfectly, and the hash brown casserole was fantastic -- but the bacon was over the top! Thick, flavorful, and seriously some of the best bacon I've had at a diner. You have to try it! We also had the Migas ($15.99) -- fluffy eggs with onion, tomato, Hatch chiles, Hatch chile hollandaise, cotija, crispy masa cakes and red potatoes. Tons of flavor and another winner. And don't skip the coffee! Phoebe's serves locally roasted Texas Coffee Traders coffee, and it was excellent. Everything about our visit was great -- the food, the coffee, the atmosphere, and especially the friendly service. Halley was fantastic! If you're in downtown Austin looking for a great breakfast, put Phoebe's Diner on your list. You won't be disappointed.

There's a sign by the front door that gives you parking options. I was really torn with what choices to make... Pancake vs French toast: Pancakes were a little mushy/gummy for my taste. They are light but less sweet than many other pancakes. I'm typically pretty light on the syrup but I added more syrup for the sweetness. They are good, just less sweet. Next time I'd try the French toast which is made with thick brioche bread. Bacon vs sausage: Bacon is thick, not greasy you bite it like a piece of chewy pork, it's good; the smoked sausage is great! It's a little spicy, full of flavor. Eggs with onion added were quite flavorful. It was a good breakfast diner experience.

My eggs Benedict was served on a unique bread - not a traditional English muffin - that kind of fell apart as I ate it. The flavor was great though. I should have gotten regular home fries, because the hashbrown casserole was cheesy and I wanted something to soak up the hollandaise and egg. The pancakes were so light they fell right apart when we began cutting into them. The flavor was great though. I would definitely recommend Phoebes.
