I am SO HERE for this place. I didn't even know it existed until it showed up one day as a "near me" when passing through. "Onion rava" was a tad on the spicy side but pretty delicious. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND. We were served stale food, due to which a friend had to be rushed to the ER the next morning and another friend was vomiting. They ate medu vada and paper masala dosa. If you do go in (which will be an unfortunate thing), please at least make sure you do not consume either of these two and also send anything back if you think it not fresh and DO NOT CONSUME IT! The service was also bad, we weren't even half way through our dinner and the server placed the check on our table and in a minute asked if we were ready to pay, not something I am appreciative of. After speaking to the owner, she said that she checked the cameras and that the check was only handed out to us 25 minutes after we were done eating, however, in reality, it was given to us while we hadn't even finished our first course. Upon scrolling past some of the reviews, I found a couple of reviews mentioning the stale food and bad service from a week ago, a month ago, and even a year ago, so this is an ongoing problem. I took my family that was visiting from India and they were so happy and so content with their meal -- they literally asked to come here a second time during their visit! This place serves authentic South Indian food, and excellent curries. We ordered a variety of dosas -- the rava onion is my favorite! The regular sized dosas (not unlimited dosa night ones) are a very good portion, and make for a good meal. I really enjoyed the Indo-Chinese options as well. The chhole bhatura (channa masala) was excellent as well. What I appreciate most is that this place is very allergy friendly. My partner cannot eat any dairy and any nuts. Not only is the staff here super knowledgeable about what ingredients are in each of the menu items, they take special care to ensure there's minimal cross contamination. I'm personally not the biggest fan of the unlimited dosa night. It's great if you want to try most of their dosas, but since the portion sizes are small (the dosas you get unlimited as much smaller), I find that I don't enjoy this very much. Came here twice for dinner during my trip to Boston. The food was amazing and authentic. Poondu Kuzhambhu was kick ass and I had it on both my trips. For the uninitiated, this is a spicy-tangy-garlicky gravy best had with rice and a side of appalam. I was craving for some authentic South Indian food after a week long diet of pasta and pizza and salad. The waiters looked like college kids. They were pleasant and friendly. If I have one complaint it is that their portion sizes are massive. I ordered their side of potato sabji which was more like a mound. To their credit, they tried to talk me out of ordering it as it was going to be too much quantity for 1 person but I remained skeptical thinking " how big can the side be, really!". If I lived here that wouldn't b a problem, of course, and I'll take it to go. All in all excellent food, at least the South Indian variety that I got to try. read more

It is one of it's kind, with a size as tall as a 4 year kid, it comes beautifully laid on two plates. As for the dosa the taste is perfect and worth the price! However other items on their menu aren't very promising. There is salt missing on a few items. The Gobi Manchurian could be a little crispier. That being said if you're looking to taste any Indian spice at all this place will do fine. But if you're looking for a mouthful of flavors this isn't your spot. My friends order Mysore masala dosa and spring dosa which has zero differences, Except one was cut and other was not. Dosa n Curry is my favorite South Indian restaurant in the Boston area. Jyoti is one of the owners and is very kind and accommodating to vegans. The restaurant has mostly vegan food. I normally go there for dosa night or the weekend lunch buffet. My favorite dishes are the idlis, dosas, vadas, coconut chutney, vegetable rice, aloo poori and sambhar. Didn't realise this was a vegetarian restaurant until we sat down. Service was excellent, a young man from Nepal was very friendly and we had a good chat about Nepal and travelling. Husband and I shared an appetiser (Idli), which was very substantial and we agreed that it would have been plenty for dinner, but our mains were on their way. Husband had a Dosa filled with fried mashed potatoes, served with three types of sauces (that had also been served with our appetiser), and I had a chick pea curry, served extra spicy (chilli) at my request, which came with plain boiled rice. We enjoyed both dishes but couldn't eat everything. I deduct one point for the sauces, one of which was a watery soup type sauce, as I'm sure they could do better. I deduct one point (sorry if this is TMI) because as soon as I got to bed, I was farting like a Trooper, all night long, which I attribute to the chick pea curry. My poor husband didn't think he was going to make it through the night being in the same room! I was there at 9:40pm and they asked to order soon as kitchen was closing which is fine and understandable but what was the worst is that exactly at 10 they give the check and ask us to pay, sign before we finish eating even the appetizer. They were in such a rush and felt almost like they didn't want to serve anyone after 9:30pm when the restaurant actually closes at 10:30pm. Secondly is the tasteless food. My parents and newly married wife came here to eat some dosas. We are from Chennai and our standards for dosas are incredibly high, but nevertheless we decided to take a chance on the lunch buffet at dosa n curry. Here s where it got ugly: Half the buffet dishes were gone and the ones that were there we scraped from the bottom of the grimey stainless steel pan. The dosas could be passed of as fairly authentic for someone not from South India but the coconut chutney would be rejected by beggars in Chennai and Bangalore. The coconut chutney was made with disgusting frozen desiccated coconut and garnished with a few mustard seeds and tap water. Sambar was luke warm but dangerously close to tasty. But hey this is Boston, so not too bad so far. As we were eating the above fare, we were following the obvious "rule" of taking a fresh plate each time. But the wait staff refused to clean our dirty plates so that we had a pile of 6 dirty plates next to us as we were enjoying our mediocre food. With no room left in our table, we were forced to use our same plate and were duly told by the wait staff that this was against their rules. When pointed out that their job was to actually clean our disgusting table it was too much for them to handle and this event was quickly followed by an exchange of disgusting words. There were so many things wrong with my experience here. It took forever for us to get seated and our orders taken. The server had no clue what was going on and tried to deliver another table's order to us. We ordered three courses, and our dirty plates from the previous course were not taken away as a new one was brought in. The phone rang constantly, and no one bothered to answer it. There were people waiting to be seated, and they waited a long time. The food was just ok. The rice pudding we ordered for dessert was store bought Kozy Shack. When the bill arrived, I tried to give them a credit card. I was told they did not take credit even though there was a visa logo on their door. Their website also said they took credit. My friend and I had visited Dosa n Curry quite recently on someone's recommendation and well, my craving for some good South-Indian food. The aloo tikki wasn't so bad for what it was worth and was probably the best of the three things that we'd ordered, which wouldn't have been such a bad thing if the other two things were masala dosas. As a South-Indian, I'd hoped for a crispy dosa with some masala on the inside (as the name said so) with sambar and chutney which wasn't as watered down as it was. I'd just hoped for a bit more flavor, and that might be because I'm biased when it comes to dosas. This place is AMAZING! I will admit that I'm never excited about Indian food though I often enjoy it when I eat it. I was impressed at the variety of dishes, including many less common items and Indo-Chinese entrees that stray from the usual Indian items. My boyfriend is part Indian and isn't even vegetarian but was impressed with the food. We tried the okra, which was excellent, and the Manchurian cauliflower, which was phenomenal, along with some cauliflower in pickle sauce (achari gobi?), which was incredible and really unique. Good south Indian food!!! I went there with a couple of friends and we all ordered different dosas and everyone loved the dishes. We had also ordered Gobi Manchurian and it was tasty. I think their Sambar and Chutneys can still be better and their potato masala in dosa can use more seasoning specifically salt. But these are more nitpiks. I still loved the food the way it was. The place is big but they have stuffed it with too many tables back to back. On Saturday evening, there is barely any place to move. Also, finding parking around is not very easy So I would recommend choosing a correct day to go there. read more

I went to this place with my friend on a Sunay morning around 11:45. They offer buffet which looks pretty good. I didn't take that though because I wanted to eat dosa. We took lemonade, tikki samosa Chaat, plain dosa made in ghee and paneer masala dosa. I didn't like lemonade a lot. I'm not sure what other restaurants put extra in their lemonade, but this one was pretty plain and little strong on lemon. Samosa Chaat was awesome. My friend like plain dosa a lot and my paneer masala dosa was good too. Since we were only 2, we had to sit on the first section of the place where they put the buffet, so it was little uncomfortable to have people standing right next to our table in line for the buffet. We had requested a different table but didn't get as that would accommodate more people and they were expecting rush during that time. We have been to lots of rest serving Dosa and idlis but this has been a very good find. the veg platter, medu vada and chilly potatoes for app. were great to start with and they were really tasty and upto the mark. I guess the Sambhar was not that good since i did not have it i will not comment on it and base the rating on it. for dinner i got poori and palak paneer. I am a palak paneer aficionado and this place's palak paneer would be in my top 3. It was awesomely good and spicy as per my request. Temple dosas were very nice too and since we ordered spicy they obliged us in a very nice way with the spiciness. The bisi bele bhat were good but i did not like it since , I think i ordered something else than what i wanted since i did not know the name of the rice dish i was looking for but the taste was nice for people who like bisi bele bhat. Overall the place was nice and def due for a re visit sometime but i do want to rant about the order taker. We came in because of the Groupon we had, but we'll come back. The bona fides: I am second-generation Indian, and have had dosas from Andhra to Delhi. I feel reasonably qualified to judge a good dosa. This is not the best I've had, not by a long shot, but it's quite solid, and I've had many worse. We had Gobi 65, a paper dosa, paneer masala dosa, and gulab jamun. Appetizer was excellent; well seasoned, good chutney, pronounced delicious by the toddler who proceeded to consume the entire plate. Paneer masala dosa was well-seasoned, but really needed a lot more paneer. Mostly potato. They really won points on the paper dosa. One of the main goals of the paper dosa is to spread it thin to get that crisp, and they achieved it -- theirs literally fills a table and is taller than my child. The photo got accolades from the folks back in Mumbai. It was decent, too -- good and crispy, with masala that was slightly underseasoned, but came in a generous proportion. I enjoyed the sambar and was pretty sure I found a drumstick (Indian vegetable, check the freezer across the street) in there. Would agree that probably they wouldn't do well on service for a larger party or more complicated order. Things like the pizzas aren't even on the menu. Servers seemed kind of lackadaisical; good thing we didn't need more water. Math on the bill was totally screwy, though in my favor, not theirs. Then again, for a place like this, I'm not expecting very much. It did the basic South Indian stuff well enough that I'd come and explore the menu again. I wouldn't advise getting curries in a place like this, as you're likely to be disappointed, but stick to the veg specialties and you should be all right. read more

Went to this place today. They have good service, good ambience, menu is a mix of both south and north Indian dishes but famous for their Dosa's. We tried Medhu vada, Ghee roast Dosa and Temple Masala dosa. Medhu vada and ghee roast dosa was good. Sambher is fine. Temple masala dosa is their special in the menu but the masala had no flavor and taste. They serve coconut and tomato chutney with the dishes which did not have any southindian flavor. Having spent 10 years in NYC, NJ and relished finest cuisines in and around boston area, i felt this place needs proper hand holding and retraining of chefs to fine tune knowabouts of how to prepare basic dosa, sambhar and nonwatery chutney. This is a great place! Came here on a Tuesday night for the special dosa buffet that they serve here. The place was busy and I had to wait for 10 mins to get inside and did not disappoint!
