I just had the Peshwari naan and lamb kadhai from Spice Delight and...*chef's kiss* I cook Indian food often at home and was intrigued when I biked by Spice Delight. I placed a takeout order and biked over, since it's so close to home. The Pashwari naan is delicious! The naan itself is light and fluffy, and the sweetness was such a great complement to the spice of the lamb kadhai. I've often found at Boston-area Indian restaurants the spices tend to be muted--not the case here! I ordered the spicy version (not the very highest level, but the second highest spice level) and am over here sniffling a little bit. In a good way! Great neighborhood indian restaurant. The chicken chilli is good, the chicken khadai is good, the chicken jalfrezi is good, the chicken pakoras are good and so is the garlic naan. I have not had anything else besides these things because I cant do dairy, dont like (whole) chick peas, dont like lentils and am a creature of habit in general. Love this place! The food is ready fast, the people who work there are always friendly, and the food is delicious. They sprinkled some parsley on top for takeout which was a nice touch that made it look more like dining in. The saag paneer is rich yet still light (not at all gloppy). Quite happy with the meals we had here. I had a veggie pakora (nice quantities, with a set of nice side sauces). Also went for the fish curry (the salmon meat was a bit tough for my standards, but the sauce was rich and delicious). The Spinach and Mushroom were excellent as well (think saag paneer, but with mushrooms instead of cheese). Finally had the lamb kadhai, which uses ground spices and onions and peppers. I'm not exactly sure which spices were used, but this combination of flavors were rather new to me, and I thought the meat was tender enough. I'm particularly impressed by the portions! We were in the area and decided to give Spice Delight a try based on the Yelp reviews and we are happy that we did! The place is bit small, maybe 20ppl max. So good for smaller groups. It was pretty empty for a Friday night(8.30pm), probably the crowd came in early. Food was good, tasty and in good quantity. We had the samosa chat(good) and lamb boti kabab(sizzler, tasty but bit hard to cut through)for appetizers. Malai kofta and garlic naan for main course was good too. If you can handle a bit spicy, I would recommend getting the Hot option, especially since this gravy has a creamy base. Overall a decent fare. Service could have been a bit better. We were one of the total 2 tables occupied, served by one guy. There were other staff looking after cleaning/billing etc. But our used plates and dishes were not being cleared. Even when we asked for new plates for the main course, he exchanged the plates, but did not clear any of the empty dishes from the table. (Almost felt like, it's not my job attitude). read more

I've ordered here before and I got extra-spicy thinking, like most restraunts, they would be mild anyways. But nope, I was horrifyingly surpised (and happy) at the quality and genuine spice level. This was about a year ago. However, my parnter and I ordered Uber Eats from here tonight and we were extemely disapointed. We ordered 'extra hot' vindaloo but got 'hot' (it even said only 'hot' on the receipt). We also only got one rice for our two orders... which is supposed to come with the vindaloo. The vindaloo also didn't taste like vindaloo, at all. It just tasted like allspice, it was really gross. I'm sorry to keep going but the naan was also really dry.... I'm not one to leave reviews but we were pretty sad about this, we don't order out often because it has gotten so expensive. So this was a pretty big let down. We decided to try Spice Delight for takeout because of a sponsored Instagram ad. I was craving something spicy and Indian so decided to give it a try. My review is based on takeout experience and food only. The first order (which was on a Friday night) was the chicken biriyani. We asked for it to be "spicy". The biriyani was served with raita and a tomato salad. The biriyani was rich, had a lot of cashews and dry fruit and tasted authentic. The chicken was not as tender as I would have liked but it was not bad. The biriyani was very spicy though. As someone who eats very spicy food, I will say that this was hot! So a pro-tip is to ask for mild or medium when you order. Overall it was good, but I took off a star for the spiciness and the tenderness of the chicken. The second order (on a Saturday) was vegetable samosa and chicken jalfrezi. This time I asked for it to be mild/medium. The jalfrezi was okay. Not the best in my opinion, but it was not bad. It was a little too sweet and the chicken was not tender enough. The samosa was very good. As someone from a South Asian background, I have high expectations for Indian food and the explosions of flavor in all the food was a surprising delight for this restaurant being a late pick on a weeknight. I had the Lamb Tikka Masala. I forgot what I friend got but we shared garlic naan. I also got a mango Lassi. If you want to be constantly interrupted, this isn't the place for you. They leave you in peace and let you eat your food and are fairly easy to get their attention (in my opinion) when you do need something. There is ample seating, the atmosphere is relaxing and it's a family friendly establishment (though I do think if they don't have them they need high chairs). One of my favorite Indian restaurants and the only one in Belmont. The restaurant owners are very friendly, it seems to be family owned. Everything is good my favorite is the lamb khadai or chicken korma. That's beside the point everything here is amazing... Mango lassi is my favorite, as is the peshwari (coconut) naan. Inside the restaurant is very clean and the wait staff makes sure you are comfortable. It doesn't take too long for the food to be prepared- service is fairly fast. Got take out last night. Unfortunately I was expecting more out of the chicken tikka masala, sauce was very weak in flavor and had hardly any chicken in it. Maybe 8 cubes in a whole big container of what may as well have been a flat tomato soup. The aloo gobi was good. Paneer was in the middle, not super exciting. The naan was overdone and crispy in many parts I was hoping for a nice soft puffy bread. Seeing the rest of the reviews here makes it seem like my experience was not typical. I really want to like this place. Friendly. Convenient. Airy seating. The papadam is best ever. However, the garlic naan was not edible. Thin, ragged with no flavor. We tossed. Tasted old. The chicken korma was flavorful, but it seemed it was pre-cooked then reheated. Not sure, but that is how it tasted. And as someone else notes, the "hot" is very very hot and the extra hot is probably reserved for the few who can stand it. 5 stars! I've gotten food from here 3-4 times now and every time we've come away with zero regrets. We have not tried the meat or seafood options but the veggie and chicken entrees are all tremendous. I have particular love for their butter chicken, saag paneer and the tarka daal. Serving sizes are super generous too and to me, decently priced. A couple entrees can last me a couple days. I can count on no hands the number of times I've ordered takeout and the restaurant had to give me an overflow container because the portion was too big. This place did it twice. I've not eaten inside yet because of Covid, but they have an excellent system for pickup- masks, a respectable distance, etc. hopefully whenever the world gets back to normal I'll be able to have a sit down meal there. read more
