We decided to try this place after driving by time and time again. It's a local place and the building has changed owners and purpose several times. The atmosphere was pleasant and even though they had a large bar area they didn't have the tv's blaring which added to the enjoyment of our lunch. The food was fresh and at a good price. Service was very nice and attentive.. didn't have to ask for refills several times which is not a common thing. We will definitely be returning soon. It saddens me to write this because the Upland Community page has been buzzing about how great the food is here. We went for breakfast on Sunday and it was sadly disappointing. I ordered the mole breakfast enchiladas. I have never experienced so much cheese in an enchilada, it was kind of overpowering compared to the sauce. The potatoes were under seasoned and onion peppers undercooked. I found a little black hair in my potatoes and then a short hair on my side of my plate next to the mole. I don't have black hair. The rice and beans were good. Every table but ours got chips and salsa to start. My husbands toast was forgotten also. Fruit with his plate was just sliced cantaloupe with the rind. Gina wasn't our waitress but she did eventually bring us chips and salsa but when I told her about the hair she looked shocked but didn't know what to do and just said sorry, nothing further. We asked for check and the dropped it off but didn't come back, we had our card ready and had to still wait. I wouldn't go back for breakfast but would be willing to give them time and go back for dinner in a few weeks once they work out the kinks. Last thing, is all the tables and floors were covered in little white fibers. Not sure from a towel or from the fake flowers hanging. It was unappetizing to have tables surrounded in that material. A booth also was two small tables pushed together instead of an actual booth table. read more

The Shrimp Cocktail looked scrumptious but it was not. Great ingredients but no flavor. The liquid it was in was very watery. My wife's BLT was tastey but literally fell apart in her hands and messy. Placeholder review. This place is trying hard but seems to miss the mark. The menu is quite extensive (maybe too extensive. Oddly, it included 3 different sushi rolls). I had chile relleno & chicken taco combo. The relleno had little cheese, coating wasn't fluffy, and the chile was tough. The taco was ok, grilled sliced chicken on a soft corn tortilla with guacamole and pico de gallo. Beans and corn were both very good. However, the rice lacked flavor. The portions are large, which almost justifies the prices. We were told they are still fine-tuning the menu and recipes. As well as working on getting their liquor license soon. Great service, huge menu and the food is plentiful (really large portions! They have good choices for kids, too! I had the carne asada burrito and ate what I could but I am bringing home two meals worth for tomorrow! For the price of $14.99 it was definitely worth the value. My wife ordered the french toast combo. That was 6 slices of french toast, 2 eggs (any way you like), and a choice of bacon or sausage. The French toast was great with a multiple options. Also 14.99. I ordered the Dos Mundos omelette. This behemoth comes with 5 eggs, ham, sausage, bacon, chorizo, onion, bell pepper, mushrooms, and tomatoes all topped with cheddar and jack cheese. It's served with a side of either home fries, hash browns, or fruit AND a choice of toast or biscuits and gravy. All this was 15.99. I call it a bargain. The only current downside was they didn't have the full breakfast menu available as my wife wanted to try the banana nut waffle. Service was good. But the food is way overpriced and highly under seasoned. My kids and I were adding salt to literally everything; the salsa, the guacamole, and to each entree. I ordered the Dos Mundos tostada, which I was told was exactly the same as the mixta tostada, but with a mango and avocado added on top with a "special" sauce. The sauce was chamoy. And they basically charged me $4 more for the mango and I suppose more avocado. The seafood in it was tiny shrimp, super thin slices of octopus, small abalone cubes, and low quality imitation crab (my thoughts exactly). The seafood/vegetable ratio was...mainly vegetables. My son wanted to order enchiladas, but I refused to pay $23 for a few enchiladas, rice and beans. My friend ordered the mole, which as I mentioned was highly under seasoned. Our "favorite" item on her plate was the frozen and canned vegetables They have aguas frescas, but be prepared to pay $5 per glass. The ambiance was fine. We talked about going there to watch a fight in the future bc they have several TVs. But that was before we tried the food. The only thing I recommend...is not going there. read more

Came to dinner today for my neices birthday. We were told by 2 different wait staff that they were out of shrimp. We were disappointed because thats what we came to get but understood as it's a Friday during Lent and figured they had a busy day. That was until we saw that every table seated and ordering after us was served with some type of shrimp dish as we were left to eat our under flavored fish dishes. When we questioned the staff about why every table had shrimp when we were told there were none we were met with a sorry were not. We were undoubtedly very disappointed with our experience and service and will probably not return considering the staff didn't really seem to care about the situation. My mother and I finally made it here for lunch earlier this week. Octavio was our host and server. With further conversation we learned he is part-owner or owner of this restaurant. He is kind, prompt, knowledgeable, and seeks feedback on the quality of the food. My mother ordered the salmon lunch special ($13.99 I believe). As you can see from the photo, it is a large meal, especially for the low price of the lunch special. She enjoyed it greatly and the salmon had no fishy smell or taste which is sometimes an issue with salmon. I ordered the shrimp cocktail which was $21 I believe. Compared to other shrimp cocktails in the area, this is larger, making it less costly for the spice of it. The quality of seafood and veggies was really fresh. They do serve beer and mimosas currently. They are awaiting the approval of their liquor license, and Octavio said they will be building a large bar in the restaurant. We will definitely return and recommend others to try this place out! read more

My husband and I had dinner at Dos Mundos tonight. The food was delicious, and the service was great. The starter for us was the chips and salsa. I've always thought can tell a lot about a place based on their chips and salsa. These were delish. The chips were warm, and the salsa was blended just right, with a little kick to it. I'd go back just for the salsa. My husband is use to authentic Mexican food, and pretty picky when it comes to where we go for Mexican. He ordered the fajitas and they did not disappoint. They were served sizzling on a skillet with rice, beans, and some type of corn mixture that was very flavorful. I had a soft carnitas taco and a hard shell shredded beef taco. Both were on point. The carnitas were cooked with the right amount of crisp, so yummy. The shredded beef was savory and cooked just right. If you're not in the mood for Mexican, the menu has a variety of other things to choose from. There's something for everyone. We will definitely be back. read more

Went for Sunday lunch and this is how my experience was at Dos Mundos Kitchen: Chips were stale Salsa tasted like it wasn't home made. Prices were so expensive. We went for lunch, but it felt like dinner prices. The sugar container had used creamers and leftover milk residue at the bottom. Their wet burrito was so dry that you had to order extra sauce.. which they charge for ($2). Seated right underneath the malfunctioning TV, so I couldn't hear my party. Waitress brought my bill and then also proceeding to take my water away. Stay Away! I would recommend, SED, El Torito, Rodrigos or any other place in the area. read more
