Our venue uses this bakery for our wedding cake. We went for our cake tasting and walking in, it was so so clean, everything looked and smelled so good. They have a separate table off to the side for the tasting which was great. They offered coffee and water which was a nice plus. We were able to sample a bunch of the flavors we picked. They were all so good it was hard to pick. They had a book of designs to make it easier to pick. They also made it easy to send photos via email to really have it look just like we want. My birthday was this past week, a buddy of mine who works out in Long Island decided to give me a small piece of cake so that I could start my celebration. Apparently, this place is very popular out in Long Island and she was a big fan. While I was informed the box was dropped prior to me getting it, it didn't seem like there was any damage. I had a slice of Dulce De Leche, which I didn't think was that great. I mean it might have to do with her long drive from Long Island back to Manhattan but to me, it was just average. However, I also had a piece of cheesecake and I was a huge fan of that. I was very pleased with the richness and the texture. While I don't think I'll be taking a drive out to Long Island for Cake, I'd certainly be willing to try both another cheesecake and make some of the different cakes this place has to offer. I ordered a cake for our daughter's bridal shower -- it was one of the best tasting cakes we've ever enjoyed. Guests loved it, too. The cake looked exactly like the inspo pic we provided, as well. What's more, the gluten-free cake was just as delish; and no one could tell for a second that it was the GF one! Dortoni even made the GF cake with the same filling and icing as the regular cake. This Dortoni Bakery has been here for many years. They certainly don't need me as a customer as their products are good with quantity ingredients. When I have had problems I have tried to ask to speak to the owner who is not available and has managers and staff to address me with resistance and disrespect. Orders were wrong and managers dismiss. I ask as a very good and long time customer for some kind of credit when the paperwork clearly shows their error for what I ordered. I try frustratingly to be respectful of these young women. I do not even get follow up as the managers give attitude and then I never get thru to the owner wondering even if he is aware that sometimes things do not go smoothly. I guess customers are just used to putting up with things so they can get their fresh baked goods. I got dismissed by one manager so she could take a call for a possible wedding. Opinion; -It's okay, I'm going to stick with one of the most positive experiences I had here; I ordered a dulce de leche cake and it was delicious. They made it to my liking, i dare say all my guests enjoyed. I went a second time, shortly after that experience, & I asked for the same cake and they looked very confused. My wife ordered a custom cake weeks ago. A cake they had eaten at a bridal shower. 4 layer with white mousse, chocolate mousse, chocolate ganache, and Nutella. Pick up cake on Friday with 6 layers and only white mousse and chocolate mousse. Went to cut cake and cardboard in the middle. I brought it back today and was told yes I was right can only give me a $20 store credit on a $62 cake and wouldn't credit my credit card. Not a good business decision! I was told well it was mostly right but no response on cardboard except they needed it for a high cake but we only wanted 4 layers not 6. No one ever told us cardboard would be in the middle of it. COVID REVIEW: Wow, can't believe I haven't heard of this bakery before. They do have two locations, and after trying both, this one takes the win by a longshot. The pastries and baked goods are fresher, and the staff is more efficient. Be prepared to wait up to 20-30 minutes on line especially because during Covid they only allow 8 people at a time. Where to start? So, my family and I have tried everything from their cakes, to cheesecakes, to cookies and to the marzipan. Their premade cakes are very reasonable, and some of them are extravagantly decorated with drip chocolate, dipped Oreos and expensive chocolate. The drip cakes go for about $35. They also have premade vanilla cakes, flan cakes, and all types! They also do custom cakes, which they feature in their windows. You can easily get a quote from them and they make your vision come to life! I've seen their cakes a few times at parties and boy do they go heavy with every detail! My favorites from Dortoni include the ricotta cheesecake and the cannoli's. Bringing Dortoni pastries to any event is sure to put a smile of everyone's face! When my friend mentioned stopping at Dortoni Bakery for some pignoli cookies, they must be good. It's located in a strip mall so plenty of parking might need to wait for a driver to leave if the parking lot is full but it's quick. When you entered the bakery, remember to get a number from the number dispenser otherwise you will be there for a long time. We went on a Saturday afternoon around 2PM, there was a line about 6 customers ahead of us. Many beautiful doll cakes and Easter baskets were displayed on the window as it was before Easter holiday. European tortes, Italian pastries, and assorted chocolate and regular and seasonal cookies. I brought a 1/2 lb of pignoli cookies which has pine nuts. They were so soft and yummy. It only became hard in the refrigerator after 3-4 days. If you are in the neighborhood, check them out. read more

Love this local bakery! Its known for its beautiful cakes but I am always there for the cheesecakes, Italian cookies, and cannoli! I have some of their cheesecake frozen in my freezer... trying to be good and only have bites here and there haha. Its like juniors style but light. It might sound ironic but you will get it once you try it. Also, now they even have donuts Fri-Sun. However, i can rarely wake up early enough to secure some beside that one time the husband got it for my birthday. Their glazed is the yeast kind, almost like a bigger version of krispy Kreme. It was a Saturday night and we popped in for a few pastries and a coffee and it all went to the trash. We took a number waited 1 hour in line and dealt with the jammed packed mess of a crowd. The coffee when handed to me was ICE COLD OLD coffee. Like left in the pot for hours old. The girl put ALL the stuff we ordered into one smushed boxed. Dortoni was always my favorite bakery for over 20 years. Whether it was their rainbow cookies to their cakes the vast majority of their goods were excellent. What has happened recently is unbelievable, complete garbage & stale food. I went tonight 1/21/23 and purchased 2 cupcakes, 4 petitfours, 1 crumb cake piece and 1 almond horn. The cupcakes were flat out dry, stale and not edible. The 4 petitfours were also dry & stale, way to much fondant and no filling whatsoever. I haven't even bothered with the crumb cake & horn as I was saving for the morning. I also went to Dortoni last week for my wife's birthday to pick up her fave item "petitfours" and just like tonight they were stale and dry. This will be my last visit going here. A place can't just live on the hype and charge the high prices that they do. There is also way to many bakeries in the area to give my money to. I called Dortoni's Bakery and spoke to the manager Candace today Sunday, August 28, 2022, the day of my event because the original cake I ordered with someone else fell through. I called at 10:30 a.m my event started at 5pm. All I did was text a picture of what I wanted and spoke about the flavors etc. That cake was delivered to my venue before time and it was absolutely beautiful! I have been going to Dortoni for years, but something has changed drastically with regards to their service. I ordered a " college"cake for my daughter and it was not what was discussed. I received buttercream instead of fudge, there were no "drips" on my drip cake, and there were no school colors as discussed. This was after spending 40 minutes on the phone, trying to pay for the order and 40 minutes in the store for pickup. I have been going to Dortoni for years but have recently noted the prices have increased quite a bit & the service has deteriorated. on a recent visit, I asked for a pound of butter cookies & about 10 mini cannolis that I was bringing to a friends house. The young woman assisting me started with the cookies - she put the cookies in a large box - much too big for a pound. when I asked to see how it looked in the box, it looked so sparse - like we were bringing a half eaten box of cookies. she said she didn't have small boxes...so of course I had to order more cookies. Then she proceeds to get another large box for my 10 mini cannolis - I interrupted & said this would be the same problem - way too big for my order. After she rolled her eyes, I asked another worker & she showed me another box that was more appropriate. The young woman helping me was not happy to be corrected. I walked out of Dortoni spending over $50. I do want to say the cookies & cannolis were delicious but I think I could find comparable pastries at another bakery with better service & prices. read more

Decided on a cannoli cake for a friend's birthday and got a recommendation for this bakery from a colleague who is a local. The bakery is easy to find, in a little strip mall, but parking was a little tight after 5pm if you dont want to walk. I walked in and wow, this place is like sugar heaven. They are stocked full of any kind of dessert you could want. The cases were colorful from all the lovely decoration. The cakes were very impressively decorated. The prices were also pretty reasonable, I was surprised. The staff were friendly and quick to help. They had plenty of people on hand to handle all of the customers and then some. The cannoli cake, I will say, was not quite my favorite. The almonds tasted almost a bit old, there were enough chocolate chips in there (as in maybe 5 chips per slice), and the outside frosting left a lot to be desired. The cake itself, however, was nicely most. I believe this will be my new go to bakery, though I probably need to come in with a plan so I don't get too crazy here! read more

One of the best bakeries on Long Island! I eased into Dortoni's with some gluten free treats they have prepared to grab and go in the store over three or four occasions. A variety of treats so delicious I would wonder if they mislabeled the regular treats as gluten free. My wedding venue uses Dortoni for their cakes. I see why! The cake tasting process was enjoyable. Tip- they're popular so they hook up for this very far in advance. We needed to make our appointment about 6 weeks ahead. We got to try both regular and gluten free cake and a variety of toppings. I picked the gluten free cake and filling for our top tier and my husband picked regular options for the rest of the cake. Dortoni nailed our main design and my special request of a "peak-a-boo" back to surprise my husband with. They cake looked great and tasted great, and Dortoni's was very easy to work with. The cake we ordered was great and everyone was thrilled with how it looked and tasted. The service however was messy and chaotic. Knowing that they get incredibly busy, it would be great if they could put markers on the ground encouraging people to stand six feet apart. It would also be ideal if they could have a staff member organizing and managing the line outside and the volume inside. It does not seem like they prioritized health and safety. The rainbow cake is awesome!.. its basically a giant rainbow cookie with what appears to be cannoli cream. Yum. The strawberry shortcake was light, fluffy, and delicious.
