In 2014 I was looking for a cake for my Husband's 40th and Mona went above and beyond. I told her all of his interests, hobbies and colors. The flavor we requested was a blue - red velvet cake. The cake destabilize was moist and delicious all of the decorations including the NY GIANTS football helmet was edible. Everyone raved about the presentation and taste. Couple of weeks ago after having a nightmare and many mini meltdowns because someone who said they can do the kind of cake I wanted for my 50th Birthday as a gift & then last minute told me they overestimated their talent and couldn't do it. Mon to the rescue....with a week left she not only remembered my husband's cake but had experience doing geode cakes. She was very helpful in giving her input on what filling would hold up and taste best and again the cake was beautiful. I was looking for a specific and special cake for my twin sisters bridal shower. I searched the internet for New York City bakeries and compared reviews to the photos on Instagram and Facebook. I wanted the cake to be perfect for my sister. I spoke directly to Mona multiple times to assure that the Leopard cake was exactly what I wanted. She was so patient and so nice to speak with. Okay, don't expect to be thrifty here, but be prepared to be indulged in the best possible cake you've ever had. Yes their cakes can be pretty pricey (think a few hundred dollars), but you get what you pay for. I cannot comment as to the bad service that other fellow Yelpers have had as I was not the one who purchased the cake, but I was amazed at the sheer detail of the cake. We got a 3-tier Kai-lan cake that was just immacuately designed, colorful and bright, from the small figures of Kai and her friends, to the meticulous placement of all the flowers placed on the cake. It's one of those cakes where you could really appreciate the artistic abilities and you may even question yourself if this is a cake to eat or for show. But not only was it detailed but the marble cake tasted amazingly good, light but not too airy complimented with just the right amount of buttercream filling. I called mona a week before the party... although very busy, she agreed to decorate my daughter's birthday cake. I plan events for a living (for over 10 years) so I'm no spring chicken in this department. I am so very disappointed in CMNY Cakes. I'm in the process of planning a surprise birthday party. Two days ago I had a tasting with CMNY Cakes. The owner gave the tasting. She doesn't give any inspiration or direction. You have to come with your own ideas. Nor is she very enthusiastic. I felt like I was at a doctor's appointment and not tasting cake. Come on...this should be fun and exciting! Regardless of her lame disposition, their portfolio is impressive so I told them that I would be placing my order tomorrow morning as soon as I finalized some details. I literally just had to decide between vanilla or passionfruit icing and I couldn't decide on the spot. I specifically asked if they have availability for my date and they said "yes, your date is open." The next morning (less than 24 hours), I placed my order and all of a sudden, they were too booked to handle my order. They didn't even reach out to me to deliver the news. They only revealed this to me after I placed my order. I feel extremely misled and as though they wasted my time. Ordered a cake for my twins bday, and it was amazing! I sent a picture of what I wanted it to look like and it came out *exactly* like the picture. I think "pretty" cakes with fondant are usually not as delicious but this place proved me wrong. It was beautiful on the outside AND sooo good on the inside. While visiting my sister in New York last month, I needed a cake for her 30th Birthday party. The one thing I knew was that it had to look and taste good. I looked up cakes and found good reviews on yelp and thought I would give CMNY cakes a shot. I spoke to Mona, who was really helpful and knowledgeable and helped me pick out a cake design and gave me recommendations, all over the phone! Talk about easy peasy!She made it so easy to order over the phone and make recommendations regarding the flavors and fillings that I trusted her blindly (what else could I do-being from Chicago, I had to take that leap of faith!). She asked me for favorites and preferences and we decided on a marble cake with chocolate ganache layers and a chocolate hazelnut buttercream frosting (being the chocoholic my sister and I are!). On the big day, the cake was delivered on time with no issues. Everyone was raving about the cake and loved it! The flavors were rich and each bite made you crave for more. We got so many of our guests asking us where we got the cake from, it was ridiculously amazing! I've ordered several cakes from CMNY now and they're just fantastic. Both Mona and Ro are very patient with me as I can be a mess sometimes! The first cake I ordered was a DJ turntable. The detail was spectacular! And I read somewhere that they aren't really cheap. It really depends where you're shopping. The turntable cake that I ordered was for $500--WAY cheaper than the other companies. The Cake Boss in NJ wanted to charge me like $1,200! The cake I just recently ordered was a simpler two layered cake. It was for a 4 year olds birthday and the coloring was perfect for a little 4 year old girl. We also wanted little monkeys on the cake as she's super into monkeys, and they were super cute! I definitely recommend Mona and Ro--they're awesome! read more

I ordered my baby shower cake from CMNY and was floored by the quality. I met with Mona for a consultation and brought my baby shower invitation to show her the theme I wanted. She went above and beyond to stay true to details and color. We had a taste test and I chose vanilla cake with hazelnut ganache. It was amazing. I would advise anyone who understands the meaning of Professionalism and appreciate quality Customer Service to avoid this cake shop. Both Mona and Ro seem to be more occupied with how much money they can make rather than first competently completing an order. I corresponded with them via e-mail about a cake idea and instead of making suggestions and attempting to 'iron-out' the details, in each correspondence I got no closer to what I needed yet they obsessed about an approximate cost of $400 and an extra $25 for red velvet cake (optional). At one point, after I expressed that the cake image I was shown wasn't what I wanted, I was asked to send a picture of what I wanted and then another pricing would be given...unbelievable! Absolutely tactless!! If a cake is one-of-a-kind, do you think there will be an available picture of it? If there were, and all I wanted was a generic cake design; I would just take the picture to the Bakery on the corner and have them replicate it. I ordered a Harry Potter cake that completely exceeded my expectations. I asked for something I saw on the internet and it was better. Everyone was wowed! The added bonus was that it tasted so great. (vanilla) One of the best tasting cakes I have ever had for a party. A little expensive, but comparable to other places really. I agree with you I wish I would of read your comment a week ago. I met with her in the city. Gave a deposit and she send me no confirmation and charged my CC more than stated. When inquire of the confirmation plus there cancellation policy they were all in mumbles and did not want to refund my money in process of a battle. It is not right to try to rip off people who are in genuine to give you business. She stated she has been in business for 10 years??? We went to CMNY for our baby 1st Bday cake, after reading the reviews we were absolutely thrilled, but the end result was far from satisfactory, actually it was horrible. The presentation of was cake was wonderful, but the cake itself was very dry the layer of cakes were falling apart, the icing on cake was hard as a glass and was brittle. No one in the party appreciated the cake, and we had to throw away the 3/4 of it. Honestly the cake design was great. Everyone at the party were in awe. But the cake tasted disgusting and found two strands of red hair inside the cake. FYI party was all Asian with black hairs only. if i could i would give cmny cakes 0 stars. i placed an order more than 3 weeks in advanced for my sisters bridal shower, paid in full on the spot! the day the bridal shower came my cake was never delivered!!! i called mona to ask why my cake had not been delivered at the scheduled time that i already paid for, she had nothing to say other than her computer system supposedly went down. really? well she surely had gotten $400 for a cake she never delivered, im sure that was in her computer system! the venue the bridal shower was held, had a cake included in their package that i told them i did not need since i had already paid for and placed my order well in advanced with mona, i then had to come $200 out of pocket the day of to find a cake for my guests! thank god the manager of the venue was able to get me a cake on such short notice! it was such an embarrassment ! my sisters bridal shower which i had perfectly planned was ruined! the entire theme was ruined and pointless, having a themed cake table with no cake!!! mona was unsympathetic and made no attempt to do anything after her wrongdoing! instead of attempting to get a cake to my venue or do anything to make a customer happy who had already paid her for a service she did not provide, mona only offered me a refund of my $400 which i already knew i was entitled to being that she took my money and never delieverd my cake! it took her 3 weeks to put it back into my account and when i then asked her to compensate me the $200 which i am also entitled to due to her unprofessionalism and inconvenience she got an attitude and mad with me clamining i was trying to make money off of her! she ruined my sisters bridal shower, a day that will never come again!!! she is so unprofessional, rude and has no sense of customer service! she is an evil thief and i would never recommend this company to anyone, not even my worst enemy. she is lucky that i am still contemplating on taking her to small claims court for my $200 i was put out because she did not deliver, as i know it would be an open and shut case! read more
