I noticed my favorite cookie baking in the sun's rays and I had to give it a try. I've been looking for the best black and white cookie since my last favorite bakery closed down over ten years ago. I have to say that this is it!!!! I am so stoked. I'll definitely be back again. As soon as I paid for my cookie someone else walked in behind me and was quick to place their order right after. I'm not sure, but it might be cash only or cash for under a certain amount. I looked through the shelves of cookies and saw some other varieties my family and I enjoy. I'll have to taste those later. Entering Sapienza Pastry, I was flabbergasted at what I saw. I will get back to that, but first I must tell you how I was treated. Walking inside dressed casual, I see Sapienza decorated with pastry items and bakery items while immediately receiving a hearty welcome along with exemplary customer service engagement with a smile at Sapienza pasty. I mean, after all, greeting someone when they walk in, is good ethics for a business. I was waited on by one of the staff members and the engagement that I was given was- "beyond customer service interaction" and for that I am grateful. Sapienza pastry is your full service pastry go- to, there is no if's, and's, nor but's about that. Sadly it took me three years to find out. So there will be no more going to Floral Park. Sapienza pastry has everything, I am talking cookies, cakes, personalized occasional cakes, cheese cakes, cannoli's. They even have, (drum roll- this is where I was flabbergasted) NAPOLEON'S in variety!!!! Drop the spatulas and walk off!!! WHAT??? I was like a kid in Sapienza's pastry shop. I asked what the pastry was next to the Napoleon pastry. I was told that it was an old fashioned Napoleon. OMG are you kidding me!! I have seen one before but did not know it was old fashioned, I just thought people didn't know how to make the Napoleon pastry because I've only seen it with the icing on top. The Classic French Style-Mille-Fuelle- Napoleon pastry* is known as milli-feuille- stacked layers of flaky, crispy puff pastry filled with rich pastry cream or custard. It's an elegant dessert that is celebrated for its contrasting texture. HA- ELEGANT DESERT! It is topped with two layers of rich vanilla pastry cream/ creme patissière. This has always been a D'licious treat but very sweet yet enjoyable to taste. The Old fashioned Russian Style (Napoleon Cake)* assembled like a cake and constituted of 8 to 16 layers of thin pastry layers.This exterior is greatly different from the classic as you will see when as captured this image, it is completely coated in pastry cream and covered in a blanket of fine tasted pastry crumbs. NOW this is a pastry to die for. This is my new found love and I am so happy to have finally tasted this difference. I will now forever continue to delight myself in the old fashioned style asI did find it really d'licious and not too sweet. Recently I've gotten back into going here and I'm so glad I did. The staff is always very friendly. It's a small bakery but with a very good selection. I've gotten a few too good to go boxes from here within the last couple of months and they are extremely generous with the portions they give for those boxes. The first time they gave me a large box full of pastries, a box with four large cupcakes and two loaves of semolina. Went again last night and recieved a box with 8 large cannolis and a large apple crumb pie. The parking lot is very small and in front of the store, so if they're busy you may not be able to find a spot as there are definitely less than 10 parking spots.

The bakery is immaculate. I mean spotless. The ladies working are sweet, sharp and very courteous. I love that they opened a custom cake shop right next door in 2013 specializing in wedding cakes. While waiting, I noticed people purchasing their semolina loaf and made the decision to get this bread, too. I purchased a fresh strawberry cake, 1 lobster roll with custard, one with crème, 2 small cannoli, and one semolina bread. The strawberry cake was tasty and not super sweet. The cannoli was delicious and crispy. The lobster tails were amazing. And the semolina was one of the better breads he has found. Service was prompt and the bakery was clearly marked with entry and exit. The line was orderly and I only regret it is not super close to our home.

Their cannoli is great, the cannoli cream taste amazing and we love it! On the other hand, their whipped cream eclair tasted a little different than I expected. Maybe because I am not used the Italian whipped cream. It tasted more sugary than a regular whipped cream. But still good. The strawberry custard cream puff pastry was good. Though, our favorite is still cannoli :) both the regular cannoli and chocolate covered cannoli are good! We'll come back to try other pastries :)

The cake was nothing of what I expected when I went through the design when I first placed the order. The digital art that was placed on the cake and the fondant job were not neatly done. I'm afraid of what the cake would have looked like had I not supplied them with some decorations. Needless to say I was disappointed and will not be using them again for any custom cake jobs.
