For 50 glorious years this lovely Italian family has brought so much love, infinite smiles and happy tummies to all with their consistent and unparalleled quality and class. The fresh bread - the onion loaf is the best in NY; the ciabatta is crazy delicious and addicting. Love their cannolis - filled and I do mean filled to the max with the heavenly and creamy ricotta cheese mix and those chocolate chips. Their cakes are in a league of their own- no one can touch their rainbow cake and cannoli cake. The fruit tarts have the best, fresh fruit and are also divine. The muffins - banana nut, pistachio and cranberry are scream worthy( as in shout out loud awesome). Saving the best for last - the almond horns. The coffee is really good too. The bakery is immaculate. I mean spotless. The ladies working are sweet, sharp and very courteous. I love that they opened a custom cake shop right next door in 2013 specializing in wedding cakes. Cardinali Carle Place is open 7 days a week. If you come by around 7:07 am look for this guy in the parking lot smiling as he loves on his fresh loaf of bread dipping it in his hot coffee. read more

I went to get a birthday cake for my mom and found this bakery from google maps. It was busy with a line almost out of the door. While waiting, I noticed people purchasing their semolina loaf and made the decision to get this bread, too. I purchased a fresh strawberry cake, 1 lobster roll with custard, one with crème, 2 small cannoli, and one semolina bread. The strawberry cake was tasty and not super sweet. The cannoli was delicious and crispy. The lobster tails were amazing. And the semolina was one of the better breads he has found. Service was prompt and the bakery was clearly marked with entry and exit. The line was orderly and I only regret it is not super close to our home. read more

Staff were on both sides of the counters, saying " who's next" .People behind me just stepped up to the counter to place their order! When I waited in my place in line my order wasn't ready, they were boxing it only when I stepped to the counter. The pastries were delicious however . The one closer to home closed down and I finally made it to the one in Carle Place. They have an enter and exit door, so please be sure to use the right one. Upon entering one is surrounded by display cases of cakes, pastries, and cookies. I purchased their Italian Cheesecake (for my boo's birthday) and a croissant for breakfast because I hadn't eaten anything yet. The croissant was phenomenal. I've tried dozens of croissants and always wondered how people could be satiated with just that, but now.... Now I understand. Their Italian Cheesecake was made differently than the other Cardinalli Bakery. When I asked about that one, they said that's a regular cake not an Italian Cheesecake. I asked if this one still had the lemony flavor and they said yes but it was lacking when we dug in, hence the 1* removed. Overall I'm very pleased with the croissant and may be back for more goodies and croissants in the future! Happy eats! read more

I heard some friends say the bread isn't as good as it used to be, so I went bright and early today to check it out and get a few other pastries for the road. Everything was great. Rainbow cookies - zero complaints. Text book rainbow cookie, quality, tastes exactly like it should. They didn't try and reinvent it or add their twist, they just executed them very well. Cannolis - I really enjoyed the cream. The shells not my favorite, but not bad by any means. They were nice and crunchy, but lacked some flavor. The cream more than made up for it. The bread - I got there early around opening time. Nothing wrong with it. Still the same old legendary bread. Cardinalis is a LI staple, it's withstood the test of time and I can't wait to go back the next time I'm in the area. Side note - they're apparently in the process of remodeling and getting a new bread oven, which is why they've moved their bread production to off site for the time being. I'd love it if they could post some updates on this. I know some of my friends swear there is a difference in taste of the bread. I however could not find it. read more

Who makes the best cannoli is up for much debate. While I'm not Italian, I make sure I ask ONLY Italians... who makes the best. Cardinali's came on recommendation from someone who swears by them. I must've gone on an off day because... I'm a little sad that for my 1,600th review on Yelp, I can't write a more positive report. However, the fact is that Cardinali Bakery's cannoli was downright disgusting... and by that, I mean the cannoli shell not only smelled of rancid oil (used for frying), it tasted even worse. Unfortunately, I didn't smell it until I took a bite. Had I smelled that very distinct odor first, I wouldn't have bitten into it because I knew right away what it was... oil that was too old. I managed to remove some of the cream filling to find that it was decent enough, but it was absolutely ruined by the shell, and that spoiled taste that lingered in my mouth for quite some time. They need to throw out the disgustingly old oil for frying and get some new oil. YUCK. read more

Place was adorable and aesthetic. Great place for a chat or studying if you are in the area. There have a lot of options from gelato to cakes to pastries and sandwiches. Got a mixed tart and it was tasty. Crust was a little hard but it might have been because it was later in the evening and it was one of the last few left. She wanted to originally weigh all cookies at one price, meanwhile the cookies are at different price points. The rainbow and pignolis of course are higher prices. Total laziness and greed on her part. They were tasty but nothing I'd ever drive out of my way for. Not that one needs to eat more desserts while working from home but during the Pandemic, it's a sweet reprive from the daily grind. A girlfriend of mine had picked up an assortment of cheeses and drove here to get some fresh baguettes to pair them with. A great idea indeed. I too grabbed some egg rolls and a baguette for making sandwiches. They were so fresh! And couldn't resist walking out without some sweets so grabbed some rainbow cookies, a bunch of mini eclairs, and some mini cake squares. Red velvet was the favorite, no surprise. Best part of the visit was the service. All the staffers behind the counter are very nice and are very patient with my many choices. They took care to package everything and bagged it right. I have been going to this bakery for 20 years. I travel from Melville, NY. Today I ordered two lbs.of cookies. The cash bill was almost $43.00. Pre Covid cookies $14 a lb. with prices slowing rising each year. In 4 years price jumped from $14 to $20 per lb. Not worth it. Where to go for less expensive, higher quality cookies and pastries. Copenhagen Bakery, Northport. The best breads too. Ariola Foods, Farmingdale, NY. Wow.Fresh Italian pastries, cookies, cakes. Stopped by Cardinals bakery. GPS did Not tell me that heading East on Westbury Ave. It was on the North side. Didn't see it when I pulled into a driveway when GPS said "you have arrived". Asked a woman passing by - she pointed across street. Didn't see it it's near an Italian restaurant. I turned around and there was no visible parking. Got inside and asked for whipped cream goodies of which they had none. I ordered 1 custard egg Claire, a blueberry muffin a 3 collard cookie, and a nice round very fresh bread with black pepper and cheese inside. Lots of traffic leaving. When I got home, no egg Claire. I called they're closed and left an pleasant informative message as it was all now after the fact. "Oh No" you say well why 3 stars? The girl Ellen was genuinely sweet as the pastries. All items are tasty, fresh and fairly priced at 13.52. She also did note that across the street there is a parking lot. read more

I ended up at Cardinals Bakery on a whim one morning. I got to work early and searched bakeries in the area. After viewing their website I decided to take the drive. There was parking on the street and a lot on the side of the building to park which was appreciated. I entered the bakery around 8 am on a Wednesday. I was pleasantly surprised that there wasn't a line or a store full of customers so I could take my time to pick out what I wanted without being rushed. After looking though their cases I decided on a chocolate cigar, a cinnamon roll, a scone and potentially another pastry that I was unfamiliar with. It took about 3 minutes for someone to come out of the back to help me. I have no problem waiting, however when the woman came out of the back she was less than friendly and seemed as though I had been inconveniencing her by being there. As she walked out she barked "what did you need". I said good morning and told her I was going to take a couple of pastries. Through out the entire interaction she seemed aggravated and uninterested and was standoffish the entire time. This could have been a bad morning for her or they could potentially be short staffed but it still didn't leave me feeling as though I would ever intentionally go back. The pastries were ok. Nothing special, not anything worth describing. This bakery had a lot of bread. It might be that their specialty is bread and not pastries but I did not purchase any bread. If your looking for bread, maybe try this place but for customer service and baked goods, maybe try someplace else. read more

One of the best bakeries on the island! From their cookies to their cakes everything is out of this world. Their bread is absolutely fantastic but my favorite is their meat bread. I swear I can eat a whole loaf to myself. They also constantly have new items that I always am excited to try. Everyone who works there is super nice and really quick. I had never known about this bakery until one of the doctors at my jobs brought in some treats from here, and I was blown away. The freshness and variety of the pastries I had tried drew me right in. I checked out their Yelp page and wanted to try some of their delicious looking cupcakes. Unfortunately when I went they were sold out of cupcakes, so I got the next best thing- donuts! Their donuts are so appealing and they taste just as good. They had multiple cereal topping donuts. They were fresh and delicious! I love the feel of this place- Italian music playing in the background and the incredible smells before you even walk into the store. They also have a parking lot which is a plus! We're gonna start this review for Cardinali but backwards. I stopped in before Labor day and bought a pound of Biscotti. Then I go to Starbucks for an Espresso. While I'm waiting on line, the cutest Italian Grandmother is in front of me with her daughter about my age. Ma, what cookie do you want? Oatmeal or Chocolate chip? They're both good. I can see the disappointment in her wave. Whatever you choose... So I say, would you like a cookie? I'll be right back. They look at me like I have three heads as I go to my car and get the wrapped box of biscotti. I open the box and say enjoy. I give one to both ladies, as a matter of fact everyone on line had a cookie. We laughed, haha. Lets talk Cardinali! Great local bakery in Long Island. Someone said Biscotti is $6 per pound, its actually $9 per pound. and they are great whatever the price!! Italian breads, cookies and I spy with my little eye something. Something magical. The baker is pulling out pizza?!?!? I ask for a corner slice and its $3 bucks for this huge, fresh pizza slice. Yum.... Find this place, its off the beaten path from Old Country Road. This is an Italian bakery. They have a somewhat limited selection, but what they do, they do very well (even when not strictly Italian). It's off the beaten track for me, but on several occasions I've been drawn back to it. Today I bought their: cranberry walnut bread (crispy crust, not like a sugary cinnamon raisin bread ... much more wholesome); their oven-fresh, slightly dark on the outside but soft and moist on the inside banana walnut and blueberry muffins (ingredients throughout, not just on top); and some atypical, but great tasting cheese danishes (flatter, less cheese and no shine). I remarked that I didn't see cannoli on display and turns out they had both large and small in the back ... hidden treasures, so it doesn't hurt to ask. That said their cannolis and semolina bread, while good and very good, respectively, are not that unusual. They have a parking lot and it's usually easy to park on the street. read more

Smells like fresh baked bread here...because the oven is next door to the bakery and restaurant. I came here to pick up a rainbow cookie cake for my son's birthday. It wasn't too sweet and was made fresh from the bakery that morning. Italian pastries tend to be overly sweet but their rainbow cake is perfect. The cashier was helpful in finding a matching icing color to decorate the cake. We also picked out a few loaves of bread which had a crunchy exterior, doughy interior and made fresh on the premise. The sandwich cookies by the pound and individually decorated character cookies were bland and did not have any taste to them. We will revisit for the cakes and breads. Skip the cookies. read more

I don't know what's happening to this place. I'm in there with another 5 customers and we are all asking for the better bread from the back and we are being told it's not longer made there. The bread is not fresh anymore. The place doesn't smell like fresh bread which was the foundation and molded the reputation of this place. I don't know what to say about this place since not even the bread is fresh anymore. It's sad to see this business fall down this slope. Walking in there when a fresh batch came out was worthwhile, but now even the selection of what's left is sub par with bread that has been sitting there. We purchased an eclair, dulces de leches, Oreo, red velvet, cheese danish, croissant, and a chocolate cigar. The ddl to me tasted like a vanilla cake. It was moist and very good. I didn't taste Oreo in the Oreo slice. It was a nice chocolate cake. Let's be honest, velvet cake is chocolate cake with red dye. It was nice but a little too sweet for my taste. There was not enough cream cheese in the cheese danish, but there's never enough cheese for me. All the cakes were very moist and very good. I will go back to try some more things. read more

The Biscotti is really great! And I've never had it before but tried the meat bread! They don't have this where I live. Very friendly family owned bakery, total New York experience and totally enjoyable and worth the visit! These folks know their customers .... mom and pips with great baked goods! They have piles of desserts and breads to choose from that you can tell are like " home" made and really good as obvious by the flow of known customers I saw buying them to take home!
