Got cakes for my kids for their birthdays and they were delicious ! The staff is so attentive and helpful!

Pastries overstuffed into box, upside down cakes, cannolis now covered in frosting. Not going on my Christmas table. Not cool.

Very disappointed. I picked up our holiday pastries and opened the box to a smashed up mess. Do you want them in the same box the girl behind the counter asked?! Honey if they don't fit nicely into the box then box them up properly! That is your job to know this. This is for Christmas for crying out loud why would you throw peoples pastries into a box like this, upside down and sideways?! The girls behind the counter were pretty rude as well. We should've left when we heard the girl with the glasses snap on the elderly couple in front of us. Upon trying to salvage some of this mess I tasted a fruit tart that was soggy and stale this is not this Polito's that I used to know.

I've driven by Polito Bakery so many times; each time, commenting that I wanted to check out this bakery. I finally got a chance this past weekend! Small, but nice and clean bakery. Lots and lots of different types of cookies by the pound on display; some cakes and pastries; some fresh bread. All pretty basic bakery goods. Nothing really wow'd me, so I ended up getting a plain cheesecake and one large cannoli. The large cannoli ($4) was pretty good; nice crisp shell (albeit a little bit greasy). Good amount of cannoli filling. Definite not the best cannoli I've had but good. Plain cheesecake ($15) was creamy and surprisingly very citrusy. I've never had a citrusy cheesecake before (considering that it was a plain cheesecake w. no fruit topping). But I liked it! Again, not the best cheesecake I've had but good. All in all, I wasn't wow'd but it's decent enough. Prices are more reasonable than some of the neighborhood's high end bakeries, but then again, this is not a high end bakery. Friendly service. Plenty of parking. Glad I finally stopped by... curiosity satisfied!

This is not the bakery to go to. I'm guessing no one can write happy birthday on cakes anymore for kids. Staff- A little on the rude side.

This place has really gone down hill, and it's quite disappointing to my childhood. I grew up in the Herricks area, and my aunt grew up around the block from Polito, so we spent many years frequenting this bakery. In fact, whenever my cousins would come visit NY (they moved away many years ago), we would always go to Polito. In short, this place used to be one of the great bakeries in the area, full of fresh bread, cookies, pastries, cakes, and customer service. Used to is unfortunately the key phrase here. Since I also moved out of the area several years back, it's been at least 5 years since I've been to Polito, and I found myself with the opportunity to pick up some fresh bread and assorted Italian cookies for a Saturday evening meal. I noticed the store hours were a bit longer than I remembered, which was a plus, so we made it in time to pick up what we needed. When we returned home, we immediately opened up the French bread and began to dig in. The bread was probably the best part of the experience. It wasn't quite as fresh or aromatic as we expected, so we decided it wouldn't be worth going back since we can visit Roma Ray's (an AMAZING bread factory I've reviewed before) with a much shorter drive. Still, at this point I was thinking my review would end up at 3 stars. After dinner we opened up the Italian cookies (including rainbow cookies, which I didn't get a picture of since it was really just in a white paper bag) and I was so ready to dig in (I have a sweet tooth). The first bite of the rainbow cookie yielded a flavor that was certainly fresher and tastier than your local grocery store, but definitely not the best rainbow cookies I've had from an Italian bakery. I ended up eating 2 rainbow cookies and felt the same way after I was done. They tasted like good rainbow cookies would taste after sitting out for 4 or 5 days at room temperature, a bit stale. Meanwhile, the Italian cookies were really not good at all. I was so disappointed. This is not the Politos I grew up with. The cookies were dry, lacked any good flavor, and almost tasted as if they had gone bad. It's pretty tough for me to complain about a dessert, and I found myself stopping halfway through the second cookie. Don't get me wrong, I've had worse, so this place definitely doesn't deserve one star, but I really can't see myself coming back here. The building and name might still stand, but the quality of this place doesn't live up to its previous reputation.

Supposed to be chocolate mousse cake. It was not. Do not buy this cake it's horrendous

I'm totally done with Polito. I bought a cake tonight to bring to my friends house and the girl told me it was a vanilla cake with chocolate mousse inside. I was so happy and couldn't wait to Slice it up. It was not vanilla cake and I have no idea what was inside of it or what the hell it even tasted like. I am totally embarrassed and will never go there again. As my last review said they don't even have espresso here for crying out loud. Avoid this place at all costs.

However, I stopped going because I ordered cakes and they were just done very sloppily and weren't worth the money I was being charged. Last week, I decided I'd give them another chance because I want to support local businesses and it was the biggest mistake of my life. I don't ever want to review a business to harm them but I really think they need to take some feedback and implement that into their business. I ordered a gender reveal cake, something small and simple and specifically told them to make sure the writing on the cake was done neatly as I remember one of the previous cakes I had gotten the writing was not neat. The person taking my order asked me if I'd like whip outside or buttercream and I asked what they recommended because I'd only done buttercream before and they said if you're doing whip inside then it's fine to do whip outside. I said ok. Placed my order and went in to pick it up. As soon as I saw the cake I was horrified. The writing was so sloppy and so was the cake. It was as if I made the cake myself. I asked them to fix the writing on top at least. They said ok the baker will fix it. She brings it outside and said it's whip so I can't do much but buttercream would be better (it was worse than when she had taken it inside) I said ok you can do it in buttercream no problem. Brings it back outside and it's still sloppier than ever. I said this is not neat at all, and she said well it's what I can do it looks just like the picture. I said no it does not ( I will attach the picture for reference) and the baker goes "well what can I do this is how I write?" In that moment I just knew they were not willing to help at all. I had already paid in full for the cake so I took it and left. Come home to see that this is supposed to be a gender reveal cake and you can LITERALLY see the icing inside the cake from outside. It doesn't matter if you pay $40 for a cake or $100+ you should be getting what you requested. This was a simple cake that they completely ruined. When I texted her the picture I emphasized that I'd like the writing to be as neat as possible, and I was reassured it would be. Also, if you as the professional know whip won't work as well, why not call the customer and discuss with them prior to ruining the product you are providing. The excuses did not make sense. I will not be returning. And I hope they can take this feedback and improve their cake decorating process. The cake went to waste and we had to improvise last minute.

And now an even closer location in Plainview! Pretty soon they're gonna open one right in my backyard or something haha. It is a lovely spot for authentic French-inspired pastries and coffee. I've had everything here including cupcakes, brownies, croissants, macarons, cookies, madelines, etc. I've also come here to get a small cake for special occasions. It is also a very nice place to come with friends and enjoy a coffee and pastries. The elegant, pristine interior with marble accents and beautiful displays creates a welcoming Parisian vibe. Perfect for a quick treat or relaxed sit-down. I love the cookies here, they're soft and chewy unlike the Plainview FWS I always leave with a giant bag of 5 of every different flavor of cookie(chocolate chip, nutella, oreo, pistachio, etc) because the texture is so soft and smooth. My new obsession is the fruits of the forest cake. So delicious! Its a must try!!! It gets packed in here, but the line moves quickly! If you haven't tried FWS yet, what are you waiting for?
