Ezekiel makes cereal as well!
Lawrence C.

This Shop Rite has convenient parking, excellent sales, and is one of the most immaculate supermarkets that I have seen. I didn't purchase any butcher nor dairy items so cannot comment on those departments. They have unique and ethnic items. There was a single line along the full length of the store at 10:30 am which a patron advised me moves along quickly but the self-checkout line was reasonable.

Dominican-style Avocados seen in a better supermarket - Food Baazar. This is what they should look like.

I've tried to buy Dominican avocados from this place for two weeks. Each time, the ones at the ShopRite at the Bethpage location were incredible soft indicating that they were rotten inside. A better choice is Food Bazaar in Hempstead. I'll include a photo of the avocados from ShopRite that are clearly discolored and then a photo of the avocados from Food Bazaar that are obviously healthy and green for comparison. A few other items I was looking for was not there either. If you want fresh fruits and vegetables, and a more varied style, other supermarkets in the area are better. Another issue is that the overcharge on some items. This 24 pack of Fancy Feast cost $25.99 in store, while several online stores charge $21-$22. It's a bit crazy that in person cost more than online, but that's how it is at this supermarket. Check the prices of everything and don't buy if they overcharge. I am also attaching what I saw in store versus what I saw online as proof - as opposed to those leaving 5 star comments and either barely and other reviews or no comment at all.

After a few days of seasonal allergies my body has been craving fruit and natural fruit juice to repair and recover. I had no idea ShopRite sold these. I was excited to try it. So far very good. I love the variety the location has.

I wanted to find chocolates that I used to purchase in a mall that closed. The name of the chocolates was dark Lindt Lindor. Foodie and I found it at ShopRite. My review is I found the Lindt I like at $7.49. I absolutely was in heaven. Days before Foodie found Godiva dark chocolates at $8.99 at BJs. Foodie loved the Godiva chocolates. Godiva gave more chocolates than Lindt but I have to pay membership fee at BJs. P

Huge store, lots of choices.

The place is clean and the prices are the cheapest around. They don't go above and beyond for customer service.

This store is definitely smaller than its competitors but if you're only coming here for a couple of items, it'll do its job. The aisles are narrow but the store is never that crowded. The worst part is the parking lot. It takes longer to find a spot than to shop more often than not. The staff is friendly. Sale items tend to be pushed towards the front or on end caps. Prices for certain items (Entenmann's, Stella Doro, meat, cereal) are lower than other stores in the area. Meanwhile other everyday items are more expensive here than elsewhere. Store is clean. It has a little of everything (including a paleo/gluten-free section in the baking aisle). Not a bad place to go if you need something quick.

My family has lived in Hicksville for over 40 years and we have been frequenting that shopping center for that long. We used to shop that supermarket when it was Trunz. That being said my mom went in there last week on either Thursday or Friday with my niece and nephew to get them some snacks and herself dinner for the evening. She went to the deli counter and a young man rang a bell to get the attention of the deli clerk that they had a customer. Out walked a young Hispanic male with dark curly hair and he said, "Can I help you sir?" He was polite at least and my mom got hurt, but she was just gonna move on l. Yes she has short hair, but she was dressed as a typical senior citizen female. She replied with a curt, "I am a woman." To which the young man proceeds to laugh in her face and kept laughing. She was devastated. She walked away, purchased some milk, left the store with my niece and nephew and proceeded to cry in her car. She calmed down, collected herself, and went home. She told my sisters and one of them called and complained to the manager on duty. He was all apologies and said he would look into it. Whether he does or not, I really don't care because my family is no longer going to be going to Key Food again. Maybe that's harsh or an overreaction, but all we can do is withhold our business and hope that they are more aware of the caliber of people they hire in the future.

Horrible, humiliating experience. It might as well have been called the "Vending Machine Syndrome"…read more Post-shopping, I used the first machine at the self-checkout. I gave the machine 20$--and man, was that the worst thing I could have ever done. Not only did it NOT register the money I gave it, the whole machine froze for a good while. I called out to the staff person managing the checkout center, to which I was told "someone will assist you soon." I spent almost twenty minutes waiting at the checkout for someone to "assist" me, the line's growing longer behind me, and I'm getting anxious from staff members looking at my situation, talk to the previous staff members, then disappear somewhere. Finally, a person who I assume to be the technician opened the check-out station, retrieved the money stuck far in the machine, gave me a receipt, and...that was it. No apologies, not even a "Thank you, please come again" from anyone, not from him, the store manager who popped by, nor the managing staff. After the aggravating Vending Machine Syndrome experience, a quick word would have made all the difference. Terrible store, terrible staff, and terrible customer service.

However with its modern look and fresh food, this location as the old store beat. The parking lot is pretty big. Looking at the building you can see a lot of attention when into the exterior. Well designed and set in a perfect location, this store can become a staple in the community. Inside the store is beautiful! It is organized and very inviting for shoppers. It definitely takes shopping to new heights. But shopping down the aisle required some guidance, however, the staff was friendly or really helpful at all. I went to the Indianan food counter and got the attention of a employee to help. I took the chicken taki taki, because I've tried it before. Once my shopping was complete, I left for home with my dinner in hand. The chicken was good. It wasn't anything to brag about; I did like it. I mean, trust me I finished it, so that says a lot. I have been a sporadic customer in the last 3. I call them old and dear friends now. I have known these employees( some) since 2018 and when I walked in 20 days ago and saw the terrific Teresa by the produce section, we caught up on our families and life as she was putting out the salads. Gigi ( the G pronounced like in Give) was 15 feet away and I got a big hug and we talked about working out and our diets. Steve spotted me with Gigi and came over and wished me. There are smiles everywhere and a fun atmosphere as the new employees saw this and fed off the energy and the tone. My namesake Ray also hugged me and asked about my Mom. Elena the Manager is the absolute best - she personally catered( from her pocket) a meal for homeless Veterans in NY in 2023. The products are amazing- yes. Great store if you have never been here but overall, the prices here are high. its like an ikea maze with whole foods prices. they are known for animated displays that sing lyrics and quotes, an incredible selection of baked goods, soft serve flavors, and their fresh daily lobster rolls. An unintended side effect of this journey is seeing which grocery store has the best overall shopping experience and vibe, regardless of chicken. Stew Leonards is UNQUESTIONABLY my pound for pound #1 grocery store in the country, with Market Basket and Buc-ee's (if you count it as a grocery store) being a distant 2 and 3. I knew I was in good hands when I approached the entrance and saw huge text etched in a stone at the front of the store that read "Our Policy: Rule #1 The customer is always right! Rule #2 If the customer is ever wrong, read rule #1!" Legendary. Stew Leonard's is like if a prime Chuck-E-Cheese and Disneyland had a baby (great genetics). It's a true immersive shopping experience. As you wander through the one-way isle throughout the store, you will encounter singing and dancing animatronic robots, a banana on a skateboard that starts singing if you hit the "press here" button, a plush Goofy toy doing constant "flips for customers" as it hangs from the ceiling, an "Ashton Hall's Favorite Water" sign above the Saratoga water cases, etc. All I could think about was how I would LOVE to bring my 1 year old nephew here. There is just so much soul in Stew Leonard's. Along the path, there are stands for products including but not limited to hot buttered lobster rolls, fresh squeeze orange juice, fresh made apple cider donuts, fresh live lobsters, freshly made mozzarella, smash burgers, pizza, tacos, sushi, and a candy shop. It's like walking through a state fair. The rotisserie chicken, sadly, ended up being middywap. A whole tissi ran $7.99 and it ended up landing at 7.7/10, which currently ranks it 40th out of 79 grocery store birds I've tried, but it's way bigger than the bird.
