I looked around at all the offerings and finally chose one of my usual favorites a linzer tart. When I ate it later in the day it was good but kind of dry. I don't know if that's the bakery's fault though in general these pastries are on the dry side. I'm taking off one star for my latest experience that shows that this place is not really great at customer service during a pandemic. I called and wanted to place an order and have someone else pick it up. Having done exactly that recently, I thought they would allow it again. Especially in a pandemic where people are ordering deliveries, I did not think it was an unusual request. However, the lady over the phone refused to allow me to place an order for someone else to pick up. I was having car trouble and had to walk in this freezing weather to go into the bakery when I had a friend who had a car and could have picked it up for me. I still like Mario's baked goods but this is not very good customer service during a pandemic! I felt uncomfortable having to wait in line with many people. We order all of our cakes from this amazing bakery! Our guests are always say this is amazing, where did you get it? Today they went above and beyond! I ordered a cake requesting a late pick up, due to it being transported and served the next day. Our plans changed and we needed to leave the morning of the day before. I messaged them on Facebook and their immediate response was to call when they opened at 8am. The staff could not have been more understanding and helpful. They had the cake ready 2 hours later (7 hours earlier than I originally expected). So grateful and cannot wait to enjoy it! read more

I recently went to Mario's for both my Groom's cake for rehearsal dinner and my wedding cake and OMG both were AMAZING and so much more beautiful than we could have imagined. Not only that, but the cakes were sooooo delicious and tasty. The whole process was great--we went in for a tasting and then picked what flavors we wanted. We had originally went in with a different idea of a wedding cake in mind but the owner, Louie, was superrr helpful and Googled some photos for us on the big screen and helped us pick something out even more beautiful. The absolute best!!! Have been getting their cakes for all my friends and families special occasions since I was 20 years old in college. Had them do my 25th birthday cake this year and everyone still talks about how yummy it was. Had a minor issue and Lou handled it incredibly. We was recommended here for our wedding cake. I was a little nervous because of some bad reviews but we were not disappointed at all. The cake was so moist and delicious! Every layer of cake was perfectly balanced. There was no overpowering taste of sugar between the buttercream and fillings. We did a different filling each layer with chocolate and vanilla cake. I would say we got a 4 tiered wedding cake for 100 people and we had plenty of leftovers. I probably should've done 3 tiers. I definitely recommend this bakery. read more

This happened a couple of months ago, but today i had time. This cake was orginally for my boyfriends birthday. I was really excited because he never celebrates his birthday and i wanted to really make it special for him. Upon consultation i left feeling confident that the cake would come out perfect.. as the employees did make recommondations and such which at the moment was appreciated. This cake wasnt cheap.. well over 135 dollars. That pug is made of fondant.. the said yes that it should hold up fine with the buttercream cake. A week later i go and pick it up and i immediately noticed how huge that fondant was and how heavy it looked but.. they were the "professionals" and i left thinking it would be ok. I live 3 minutes from the bakery.. by the time i get to the house the end result is viewed in the pictures below.. i was DEVASTATED. It literally looked like it just fell apart. This was in march too so it was still cold out. I immediately call and express my concern... and whoeverrrr i spoke to on the phone was so rude and inconsiderate. "Well you left so there is nothing we can do" "yea idk what to tell you" "its not our responsibility after u leave with the cake". With such a rude attitude. Consultations before ordering a cake are MEANT to what happened to me wont happen. As professionals they should have known sticking a heavy fondant on a butter cream based cake was NOT going to hold up...how is that not their responsibility? I didnt get offered a reinbursement.. or even a free or discounted cake for my troubles. She said "you can come pick up a cake you have to pay for it" i then asked what time they close and she said "ok we are already closed". USELESS. Absolutely USELESS. I had to end up running to a supermarket and getting a cake there... i felt so bad for my boyfriend.. he always goes out of his way for me and due to the lack of professionalism while making the cake and aftercare of the cake he had to suffer from this. I've been going to Mario's for many years and purchased cannolis for Easter. Every single cannoli was empty inside except for the very tips where there was a small dollop of filling! Went in to pick up a Tres Leches cake for my father's birthday. The line moved quickly and the people behind the counter were nice. I didn't preorder because of the size of the cake I wanted was small. The cake was a bit dry, but I was okay with that (the flavors were okay too) .
