Country Boy had the best rainbow cookies in the area for a long time. I know it's under new ownership, but the "rainbow cookies" I bought today were a sad excuse for what they used to be. The chocolate was so thick it was like a Hershey bar on top and bottom, the jelly wasn't set at all so when you bit into it, it all came out the sides. You could barely taste any almond flavor because there was so much chocolate and jelly. Definitely not the same as they used to be. Sad to say I'll be finding a new spot. read more

Whenever we pass this bakery, we stop and spend a fortune. There were multiple people behind the counter to help us. It was a Sunday of Labor Day weekend after 3pm, so we're lucky we got what we did. There are multiple cases and shelves and the ambiance is nice, especially when you smell the aromas of breads and pastries. This is a place where, they're about to tie up the box, and you constantly say, "Wait...one more thing". If you're there on a Friday, they have the best strudel, but we always miss it. Bummer. My son's father's girlfriend (I know, like Hollywood, lol!) lives here and my guys are up there often, especially over the summer. Good for them! He came home with leftover birthday cake from Country Boy. I was underwhelmed. It looked incredible with rich chocolate icing, but you can't always go by that, of course. The cake itself was decent - nothing to write home about, and it tasted stale after one measly day. Sandwiched between the chocolate layer and vanilla layer was whipped cream - hard pass for me. Horrible experience. I picked up a chocolate babka to serve to my family. It was so stale...absolutely inedible. $14 in the garbage. Their only job is to sell fresh baked goods and clearly they can't do that. This was not the first time they sold me stale items. I won't be going back..... ever. read more

Nice little bakery located in Long Beach. Plenty of parking in the lot. Just be careful crossing the street. Kosher certified. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. We got a few different items to try. I loved the rainbow cookie. Very good marzipan, very sweet jelly in between the marzipan. The black and white cookie was very fresh. You can tell the difference between the fresh and the packaged cookies that are in most stores. Definitely worth the trip. read more

The counter people are very nice. Prices have gone way up. Some of the items are very good and some are not that great. The last time I got the chocolate raspberry cake it was way too sweet I like their almond horseshoes and Russian tea biscuits. I recently got a muffin and it was too dry, just crumbled. I've never been so repulsed in my entire life. Purchased several baked goods including, a crumb cake, apple turnovers and a raisin bun on a Friday evening. The next day (Saturday) the raisin bun was extremely stale and the crumb cake, dry. The next day, (less than 48 hours from purchase) I decided to cut open one of the apple turnovers. By the grace of god, I cut into this pastry rather than just biting into it. It was riddled with what appears to be weeks worth of mold, my skin started to crawl. This will absolutely be the last time I (and my family members) return, because this is more than an oversight. read more

i'm always disturbed when an establishment closes before it's advertised time. I tried calling several times before getting there tonight and also arrived a couple of minutes before six. Everyone was still behind the counter and the sign was still illuminated open, but when I knocked on the door, the young lady behind the counter looked at the clock and motioned they were closed. I really love this bakery. I worked in a jewish bakery as a teenager on Long Island in the 60's. When I visit family in Pt. Lookout now this bakery is on my visit list. This bakery reminds me of the bakery I worked in, this is what I miss about living in the South now, no NY bakeries. My only wish is that you shipped out of state, if so I would be ordering all the time, and would be packing on the wt. Awesome! Got a cake for my birthday. I just wanted a HBD with my name spelled correctly. On the decoration I suggested a few flowers and perhaps something "beachy" would be nice, since I just moved to LB. I was blown away by what they did and how pretty this came out! Got so many compliments on this cake. It was absolutely delicious. I went with vanilla cake and fudge inside and choc buttercream outside. They require just 24 hour notice to order a cake. I gave one star for their rainbow cookies. I've been coming to this bakery for 13 years on and off hoping they would change their ways. Not a chance. During the pandemic they weren't wearing masks and if they were, it was below the nose. I read the reviews given over the years and many say they are not clean. I don't know about that because I can't really see behind the counter or in the back. I can tell you that the girls behind the counter are rude and not helpful and act like they are doing the customer a favor. It's been that way from the very first day I went in there. Of the owner wants to serve this community well, they should ensure their workers know how to serve the public. I'm going to shop somewhere else from this day on. read more

Still delicious! I don't usually love super sweet cookies but Country Boy's Fuji Linzer tarts (Linzer tarts with chocolate butter cream, raspberry jam, dipped in chocolate) are AWESOME! My Californian co-workers love getting these cookies as "souvenirs" everytime I visit New York. read more

Delicious bakery in Long Beach! I have been coming here for awhile and it is a great place to check out after the beach. Their cookies are Jewish/Italian style. ZERO STARS! Today I went to Country Boy to pick up a loaf of white bread for my father- in -law. Here's why it'll be the last time I shop there. As I was waiting for assistance I observed the girl behind the counter speak to an elderly customer with a very rude and nasty tone. Then it was my turn and received the same rotten annoyed attitude. She acted as though she was doing me a favor when I ordered the loaf of bread and a buttered roll. As I was waiting, I then noticed the place was absolutely filthy. The thick buildup of various unidentifiable crud wedged deeply between the display shelves and glass was undoubtedly the result of many many months of choosing not to cleaning. For an added effect there's a filthy (previously white?) stained ridden curtain that hangs between the baking area and the service area. It kind of makes you wonder what's going on back there. Do they actually bake there? As I was leaving, I could hear the crunch of dirt and debris on the filthy floor with each footstep. I thought to myself- it's no wonder why they keep this place so dimly lit. By the way- The stale and crumbling buttered (butter-less) roll never had a chance.. I placed it in a very conveniently located trash bin just a few steps outside the door of the bakery. A pandemic is not an excuse for a filthy store, rude employees or bad product. Get it together Country Boy owners. Maybe consider closing the store for a few days- retrain your bakers, counter help and most importantly give the shop a deep cleaning. I must say .. this was not my first bad experience... this was my "worst bad experience". You should be ashamed. read more
