Got a BEC on brioche with a cold brew as well as a seeded semolina bread. The brioche was crumbly, but nonetheless delicious. The cold brew was great. My friend got a breakfast burrito and enjoyed it. I agree with Harry's review that service could be better. The young man who took our orders was very friendly, but everyone else was not. Every time we said thank you when picking up items, it was ignored. Same with other customers. Not even a smile in our direction. Had a terribly disappointing experience this morning. Ordered two breakfast sandwiches on English muffin. Hard as a rock. Stale. Asked to get the brioche bun, but they said they couldn't take it back. They could give us a couple of rolls and so they handed us two cold rolls to switch our sandwich on ourselves. Came down to Long Beach to visit with a friend - we decided to grab coffee and a breakfast sandwich. Her choice was spot on, so we drove down to Blacksmiths. Small interior with a few tables, however, this place was consistently packed - most with take-away orders. We opted to sit and enjoy the atmosphere as we were on our way down to the boardwalk. My order was an oat cappuccino and a baked egg & cheese breakfast sandwich on a homemade English muffin. Both were delicious - the coffee was awesome... breakfast sandwich was tasty! I feel like blacksmiths is the only new wave coffee shop in Long Beach. Luckily, being the only one in the game means that you get all of the market. Even though they could easily do a mid-level job and a capitalize on the market, they still do a great job with their coffee and their food. Prices are a little bit higher than other spots have been to being in Long Beach, it is expected. They do have a cool rewards program where if you bring your card, every coffee gets stamped and your 10th one is free. Hope everyone is doing well. Not to get to into my personal life but I spend a good amount of time down in Long Beach NY very nice town with lots of great people. Unfortunately I have had two bad experiences in Blacksmith Breads and I gave it a second chance to learn I should not have wasted my time. The people there are not nice at all, the way they speak to you they should give it to you for free,not the case. Down to the food, Croissants are too doughy peanut butter has a bad after taste that you can't get rid of, egg sandwich not good at all, matcha drinks are bad and both times the order was wrong. Also the self serving baguette basket is a sneeze catcher. The department of health should check this out. With that being The bread is ok at best I'm sorry to say this about any business but I can not or will not go back ,maybe someone should clean the counter and swiffer the floor. I always love getting the maple brown sugar latte! Overall blacksmiths is delicious with friendly staff, but a little pricey in my opinion - which is why I only come here once in a while. A local gem. Been coming here for years and every person who works here is kind and helpful. The coffee is great, they also have drink + food specials (ie: this summer they have this watermelon lime drink that is addicting!) Food is always delicious, made to order + fresh. They have a little selection of local goodies too - like fresh flowers, hats, hot sauce, etc. Was secretly hoping they would expand once their neighbors moved out but also love the vibe of a small quaint coffee shop! read more

Breakfast or a light brunch is always a delight here. The coffee never wavers from being unique and strong. It is not Dunkin fast but the service is always kind and of the highest quality. I wish I could do 3.5. The food left a lot to be desired. My sandwich looked like it was haphazardly thrown together. They don't do their breads justice serving it cold, especially the slices on the French sandwich. The bread was dry and flavorless and I ended up throwing it out after a couple bites. The burrito could've been good but they forgot our add on of bacon... they didn't forget to up charge us for it though! Def needs more sauce and flavor in general. $30+ later for two things I could've made at home. Wouldn't get the croissant again, it was a bit pale and just not great. The ingredients are good quality but could be showcased better. Especially for the price Reply to business owner: someone months ago left a very similar review and had the same exact issues as me so doesn't really seem to be that new of an issue in terms of the food quality. This place is perfect in every way. Service is super friendly, coffee is fantastic, food is also fantastic, and it feels so cozy inside. It is my sanctuary when I'm visiting my mom in the cold winter months in Long Beach. I am an espresso lover and I've tried every coffee place that has decent reviews almost everywhere I go. This place is unreal. Always great coffee every time. Their bowls are super healthy and delicious as well or go for the breakfast burrito if you need a hangover cure. Not a ton of seating but I usually take everything to go so it's not a problem for me. If you go on the weekends it gets very busy so I'd recommend going early (or not getting food bc that can take a bit long if it's crowded). I usually will get a cortado but I always describe how much milk I want bc sometimes it is too much. They are always so incredibly sweet in there though and are happy to fix any drink. Service was great, and they kindly redid my cappuccino when it was too heavy on the milk... which I appreciated. Even at 11am, there was a line out the door, so the double doors were propped out letting out all the AC out on a hot hot summer day. I wasn't crazy about my special of the day sandwich. The croissant on which it was served was bland and texture felt stale. It was definitely NOT hard from toasting, but probably from the humidity. Honestly I paid $19 for a sandwich that I only hate HALF of and then tossed the rest. Forcing down a dry sandwich isn't worth the calories, especially when it was nowhere on this side of yummy. It's unlike your usual scone. It's doughy and almost salty and not very sweet. Completely divine. Getting this every time I'm here. Their famous grilled cheese sandwich is also delicious, smothered in butter with three pieces of their sourdough bread packed together. So glad I stumbled across the gem! My friend lives close to be here so whenever I'm there I always make sure to grab breakfast and coffee here. For starters the service is impeccable. The staff is extremely friendly and greets you when you come in. When you have your food/coffee they always ask how it is which isn't common for employees to check up on you in a cafe ! For the food, everything tastes so fresh! So far I've had the egg a sandwich on an English muffin (you can also get it on a brioche roll of sorts) and it was fantastic! The bread was flaky and soft while the eggs tasted like they were right off the farm. I also had the financier which is IMPECCABLE. They put some type of sweet buttercream icing on top that adds a nice touch. Although I haven't had anything else here I just know based off what I ate the ingredients are high quality. The coffee always tastes great as well and they have several non dairy milk options! I go with the oat milk and you can't taste the difference! Highly recommend this place. read more

Really not sure what the hype is about this place. Ordered egg sandwiches that were horrible. They were super greasy, I asked for well done bacon and it was all fatty, not well done at all. The cheese was all melted (not in a good way), it just felt like an egg sandwich that was way over complicated. It was way too greasy and heavy to even eat it. Everything these guys make is so so super legit. I mean everything seems to be made in house and there's no commercial/processed BS anywhere near here. The baguette? Unreal. The sourdough loaf? Solid. Their breakfast sandwiches (especially the one with chorizo and side of homemade ketchup)? A must try. Their typical Costa Rican breakfast platter? I ate it in the car bc I couldn't wait. Their tarts, honeybuns, and other sweets? Just motorboat them. And the icing on the cake is the incredible coffee - it's such good coffee!! Hairbender for espresso, yes, you can't go wrong. But they also do a rotating selection of local coffee roasters for their drip coffee! Like, legit third wave coffee roasters. I've been impressed with coffees from Flux and Sidebar roasters. Great new addition to the area serving up fresh loaves of artisanal bread. Place is a little tricky to find (do not have a sign on their storefront yet). Once located and inside, the space is warm and inviting. They have a couple of small seating areas and have decorated the place to with an awesome farmhouse theme (e.g., weathered rustic cupboards). They outfitted one of their walls with a large glass pane so that you can see into the area where they prepare and bake the breads which is cool. Real all star here is the bread, though (unsurprisingly). Went with the sourdough: great crispy bark on the outside within a chewy, flavorful inside. Prices are super fair: $7 for an impressively enormous loaf. Also have some sandwiches on the menu that I heard the other patrons raving about -- I'll have to be sure to come back and see what the hype is about. read more
