Excellent experience last night. My husband and I dined Saturday for Yelp Restaurant week which allowed us a great deal of 30% off food items. We arrived on time for our 7:15pm reservation and were greeted warmly and seated promptly. The restaurant was moderately busy. The ambience is modern yet warm and cozy. The place was built recently and is kept immaculate. The wine list was very impressive. We ordered a bottle of the malbec which was excellent. We started off with their complimentary house made pickles, the perfect crisp cleanse for our palates. We enjoyed the burrata and pork schnitzel for apps. Both excellent with different layers of textures and flavors encorporated into each dish. There were plenty of options on the menu and I am looking forward to going back abd trying more. For entrees we ordered the ribeye and the duck. Both cuts of meat were cooked to perfection as requested and the meats so incredibly tender abd well seasoned. To end we each enjoyed a strong single espresso each and paired it with the twin cannolis. Everything was delscious. The presentation and plating of the food is top notch here. This is by far one of the best dining experiences we've had. This was truly a top notch culinary experience. In the future I would like to sit at the bar which seats about 6-8 I believe because the kitchen is open to the restaurant and can actually watch as the team creates your masterpiece meal. The service was top notch here. We were checked on multiple times and felt well taken care of. Overall a fabulous experience and we will be back! read more

If you want a place that takes chances, isn't fried fish platters and cares about food, come here. Every dish will transcend your (mis)preconceptions about what eating is. The food is so great you won't want to eat again. Ever. Go here. You'll be happy. read more

First time in this place. The restaurant is small but very clean. We sat at the bar table and the service was good. We tried coffee cured salmon, which was the best course for today. Other courses were salty. Overall, good food but little bit pricy read more

Wow! Where do we begin... The restaurant is absolutely gorgeous, small and intimate just like we like... ALL of the employees greeted us with smiles and superior customer service. The food was better than anything that we have had in years! Fresh, made to order, perfect pairings! I've never had fish cooked so wonderfully... The scallops melted in our mouths! And that tuna appetizer...oh. My. Don't miss it! Besides all of that, Sunday happens to include a soundtrack seemingly just for us... Spotify's rollerskating playlist. Doro may just be our new Sunday date night spot forever! Thank you So much to Michelle and the rest of the staff for making us feel like the only people on earth! What a beautiful experience. read more

Wow, wow, wow!! My wife and I travel a lot all over the country, and eat out quite often -- generally in big metropolitan areas. But we stumbled across Doro and we're blown away. The burrata was to die for, and the trigger fish was scrumptious. Waitstaff were so nice. And the physical space was really comfortable and inviting. Both of us would rate Doro at the top of restaurants we've dined at. Definitely make it here if you're anywhere near Jacksonville Beach. You'll be thrilled. read more

Great food and great service. Started off with the grilled octopus and for the main had the snapper. The blending of flavors was fantastic and perfectly prepared. The portions were generous but so good that you had to clean the plate! I'm going back for sure. read more

Visited Doro today on recommendation of a friend.. I'm speechless. We grabbed a seat at the bar for probably one of the most personable dining experiences I've ever had. The menu was simple, fresh and well executed. Course 1 was the best burrata in Jacksonville. Mushroom tapenade added a nice earthiness. The greens however were not washed. Very gritty and almost inedible but the creamy ginger sauce was very good. The ribeye was perfectly cooked and melty, collards well seasoned and not over done. That snapper though... the flavors of the raw tomato and roasted olives accented the fish nicely. It's like I was taken on an instant voyage to the Mediterranean. We ordered the cannolis for dessert which were great but was also delivered brioche compliments of Chef Chris. I'm a sucker for blood orange but the best part was the consistency of the brioche. Firm outside and almost bread pudding inside. I can still taste it Throughly impressed with this place. If you haven't tried them yet make it your next dinner date! You will not be disappointed! read more

Doro is a wonderful choice for an upscale and relaxing dinner if you're looking for a refreshing change of pace from most of the restaurants along the main drag of this area. The food is expertly prepared, the dining space is very cool and the people are very warm. read more

This restaurant never disappoints! From the menu to the staff I'm always impressed. The atmosphere is perfect for a small restaurant. You can eat for just two intimately but still comfortably or go with a friend and grab a seat at the bar where you can see all the fresh ingredients used. Highly recommended! read more

We ate here tonight and everything was excellent. The burrata and beetroot salmon appetizers were perfect. Great service and simple, clean decor. Absolutely loved this experience and will be back. read more

The food was absolutely splendid. However the restaurant is so loud inside that we couldn't carry on conversation at our table. We couldn't hear either of the people sitting across from us. I would gladly pay twice the price for half the capacity inside. read more

I wish there were more than 5 stars to give! Everything on the menu was full of flavor, satisfying and healthy! I have some dietary restrictions and the Chef/Owner Christopher Polidoro took the time to work with me and customize a dish to meet my needs and preferences. It was a beautiful restaurant with a welcoming team and atmosphere. Chef Christopher came out and shook my hand and talked through the dish when I arrived, and I really enjoyed the personal touch. His creativity and passion for beautiful cuisine that nourishes the body was evident. I ordered the snapper and it was hands down one of the best pieces of fish I have ever eaten. Doro works to source ingredients locally when possible and uses Wild Caught seafood. It felt great to be able to go out for dinner and know that the ingredients in my dish simple and clean and would not leave me feeling bad. I left feeling completely satisfied! Also did I mention they cook everything in olive oil instead of refined and progressed vegetable oil? That is so rare these days and so important for our health! read more

Doro - Grilled snapper was AMAZING - New American Near Me - Neptune Beach, Florida

Consistently good food of the highest quality. We eat here regularly when we are splurging.

Beautiful food...how lucky to have such an articulate, creative and skilled chef owner. Beautiful wines and service! Blessings read more

Awesome experience and food. Daniel made great recommendations. Short ribs are the way to go. Also Maurice is an amazing chef!

I'm sad that Yelp's rating system doesn't let me accurately convey the excellence of this restaurant. I've given 5 stars to many establishments over the years, because those establishments offered some sort of phenomenal value or product. I've been guilty of giving 5 stars to a place that was just really good or because the owner is super friendly. If I could, I'd go back and remove a star from every rating I've every done, just so Doro could be my only 5 star review. Everything was delicious, even the ingredient that I don't normally like. I'm not a big salad eater, but the salad with melon was amazing. Peas and kale don't usually make an appearance on my plate, but I couldn't get enough at Doro. My wife and I ordered about half of the menu because it was so good. I think that we threw back 5 starters, 2 entrees, and 3 desserts. The entrees were not small either. Halibut on special was moist and perfect, and the crispy shortribs were substantial and actually crispy. If I lived closer, I'd probably go broke eating here as often as possible. read more

Everything is always delicious here. Service is always top notch as well! Francis (I think that's her name) always makes great suggestions for wine/food. read more

Had an excellent dinner here last week with friends. Must make a reservation, very small place and it was crowded so I can't imagine you can just walk in. Great wine list, had a delish Pinot from Oregon. The fish I had was fresh and cooked perfectly and had these amazing cherry tomatoes and olive oil on the plate - just simple and delicious. The desserts were great too, a chocolate mousse was out of this world. Will definitely be going back, great edition to the beach! read more

Had an overall amazing dinner experience at Doro last night...from service, to ambiance, to food that tasted so delicious I wanted to cry. The staff was friendly and we had the BEST evening!! read more

Definitely will be coming back. It was very modern and clean inside. Doro is a small and intimate place, where we could easily relax and enjoy our evening. The food was on point as well. I had the arugula salad and and the lamb ribeye for dinner. Both were delicious and prepared with enormous amounts of flavors. The chef sure knows what he's doing back in the kitchen. I will be recommending this place to friends and family without a doubt. read more

Mixed bag. The atmosphere felt like an episode of restaurant wars from Top Chef, kind of barren, and not very welcoming. The beer list is atrocious. I'm all for having local craft beers, but at least get decent ones - not the 4th best beer from the worst breweries in town. Had the crudo after a strong recommendation from the waiter. Very disappointing. Lacked acidity, flavor and seasoning. The scallop entree was ok. Nothing to write home about. The pork tenderloin was excellent - good enough to make up for the rest of the experience. The Apple brown butter puree was chilled, and while I get the play on pork chops and Apple sauce, it detracted from the main protein and did not enhance it. read more

All I can say is, AMAZING. Dinner last night and everything was perfect. Very small place so make reservations. But we were seated early and our service was perfect, very helpful and a lot of fun. Appetizer was scallops, delish then duck and I had tuna. Perfect and delicious read more

Amazing experience! We went for my mother in laws birthday and the food and wine couldn't have been better. The serving sizes were generous, and the wine list is fantastic. We have been wanting to go back ever since we left. read more

It is very white. Everything is either white or white washed. The place is small with a lot of tables and only a few servers. Our server for one did not know a thing about the menu and really struggled with any question that we had for him. I saw this place opened a very short time ago and is in the old sushi place on first street across from Pierre's by the Sea. Now we have some confusion with our reservations. I'm not sure what about but the hostess couldn't figure out which of the 4 two tops to put us in. I will also add that the place was really loud. I mean it was easier to text my wife then it was to talk to help for most of the night. We started out with a couple of apps. One of wahoo ceviche with cut beans and pink radish and arugula oil. I also got the seared shrimp and a curdled (I think they meant cuddled) egg and sea beans. The wahoo was outstanding and close to the dish of the night. My shrimp were burnt and tough and my egg was over also. For second course we went with the grilled snapper and the grilled bone in pork loin special. The snapper was quite tasty but the center had some raw meat to it. My pork chop was both cooked an seasoned perfectly and very tender to. It was placed on top of a wonderful corn n leek succotash. Now this dish was the hit of the night and I thoughtful enjoyed it. We did go in for a dessert of double chocolate mousse and a chocolate soufflé and some house made sorbet. The dinner as a whole was very nice and if not for a couple of very loud people groups we would be regulars here no problems. They do have some kinks to work out but most places do. This will be a fabulous place for a fine dining evening out very soon. read more

Great atmosphere, warm welcome, well paced service, delicious food with beautiful plating - it's a nice addition to the Atlantic Beach variety of offerings - well done Chris and Jessica! read more

Place was cute, food was underwhelming, service was ok. Wouldn't go back or recommend to any one.

Love this restaurant! The food was fabulous. The dishes are varied, interesting and the flavors exceptional and distinctive. The staff was so friendly and attentive. The prices were very reasonable for the wonderful dining experience. I can't wait to return and try more of their fresh, seasonal, organic cuisine. This place is a real gem in an area where so many of the other restaurants are too similar to one another. Grab a reservation for your next date night. Have some of their lovely wine selections and enjoy your evening!! read more

Brilliantly conceived dishes that masterfully combine different flavors to create a dining experience that I will remember for quite a while. First course recommendations are salmon with fennel and golden raisins, pork schnitzel or the butternut squash purée. Second course standouts were the duck that was easily the best I have ever eaten as well as the grilled salmon or the snapper. Chris Polodoro and his wife Jessica have quickly emerged as the fine dining standard bearers at the beach. Very talented kitchen staff that includes rising star Drew who has a bright future in this industry. Wait staff was attentive, knowledgable and well, flawless. Kudos to Severine, our waitress. Decor is bright, clean and fresh. Do yourself a favor and go here again and again. read more

Disappointed. Cafe style restaurant, with chef prices and mediocre food at best. Food was Drenched in oil. Had the fish special, duck and chicken dish. Would not go back again. read more

Amazing place! I went for my birthday, and my server was so friendly and helpful. I got the burrata cheese and beech mushroom first course, and the lamb second course. I'm not a fan of mushrooms, but I would come back just for that dish! It was so rich and creamy. My lamb was cooked perfectly, and my dad said his duck was outstanding. I'm planning to go again for my next birthday, and I would highly recommend this place to everyone! read more

Had a nice meal here. Service very prompted and knowledgeable. Burrata salad very good. I had salmon, which was nice though not remarkable. Pet peeve: salmon was served on spinach which was gritty. Hate that. My wife had the swordfish, which was good, though carrots underneath was very ho-hum. Nice small wine selection, and when I asked server to pick white to go with fish, she nailed it, selecting a very good, very reasonable white blend (bravo). Dessert was the pavlova, which my wife adored. It was a bit crunchy for me, but had my wife threatening to go back there just for dessert. Overall, a nice experience and would've garnered a 5 if not for the spinach debacle. read more

I've been here several times and I'm beginning to tire of the service level. Food is good although possibly overdue for a menu refresh but again...the service. Specifically, they appear to not be able to schedule and honor reservations very well. Twice now have been made to wait for over 15 minutes and since it's a small place, they ask you to wait outside and then they are completely unapologetic about it read more

Great meal and great service. This is a cute small resturant that I highly recommend making reservations. We will definitely make this one of our regular places when we want a nice meal! An important item to note, there is free valet parking in back. This area can get quite busy. Doro does have a pretty large wine selection (in comparison to their menu) and have a few beers choices too. I started off with pork schnitzel, shaved vegetables, spicy sweet dressing. My husband had crisp lettuce and apple, toasted almonds and aged cheddar. Both were wonderful. The salad had plenty of cheese which was a nice contrast with the tart vinaigrette and sweet apples. My pork schnitzel was crispy, and I loved the very thinly shaved vegetables. After the first course was cleared, our server brought out a few pickled cucumber slices. They were good and had a nice bit of heat to break up the sweet and tart vinegar. For our second course I had the grilled snapper, raw tomato, brussel sprout leaves and roasted olives. It was a fresh and light dish that I would order again. The tomatoes added a fresh brightness to the dish and the olives provided the salty balance that was needed. My husband had the beef filet, cherry tomato, steamed kholrabi, bordelaise and celery cream. The filet was a touch overcooked. However, the taste was wonderful and made up for the temperature. There was a nice salty seasoning to the meat. I'm a fan of salt and it was perfectly to my liking. For some else, I could see it being a bit over salted. This was not the case for us, as we felt it was seasoned to perfection. The kohlrabi and celery cream was AMAZING! I was lucky my husband allowed me to try one because he liked it almost too much to share. For desert I had the toasted angel cake, salted butter and fresh fruit jam. It was good, and not overly sweet. The "jam" was a blueberry compote. My husband had the homemade vanilla ice cream, chocolate sauce, whipped cream and candied peanuts. It was a wonderful rich ice cream with a great smooth texture. Simple yet so satisfying. The perfect balance of sweet and vanilla in the rich velvety ice cream. The chocolate sauce and peanuts did not overpower the ice cream. read more

Absolutely delicious!! The food in incredible, the atmosphere is charming and airy, and the staff is amazing! Big bonus that they take reservations, as the dining room isn't big. We can't wait to go back and try even more of their options! read more
