Nice ramen place.. was disappointed with the service today. It was their first year anniversary apparently and they offered one ramen bowl on the house. However the servers were kind of rude and asking why we had to order more food when we are already eating. Ramen is one of my favorite dishes. When I travel, the first thing that I am going to try in a new city is ramen. I've visited a lot of places all over the east coast, including NYC (the are more than 50 ramen places, lol), and Noodle City is one of my favorite. I live in 40 minutes, but it still worth to drive this distance and get one of the tastiest ramens in Boston. Moreover, they have the best Japanese Takoyaki - balls, topped with octopus, Takoyaki sauce, and Japanese mayonnaise. It's delicious. They are HUGE and full of octopus - number one on my list. Unfortunately, these guys are very far from Boston. I hope, one day, they open a new location there, cause a lot of people to lose a chance to try the best ramen in Boston! Ramen here is very good Authentic flavors and a broad selection with many spice levels. The only reason I am giving 4 stars instead of 5 is that the pork that went with my ramen was very tough. It didn't have that nice pork and balance of rendered fat that I expected. Maybe I should have said pork belly. The meat was tough in texture. My sister and I both agreed that the noodles were very fresh and cooked nicely. She had a wider cut noodle and I had more of stringy noodles- both were good. Takoyaki appetizer was also good and crispy! More eel sauce on top would be good or also served on side. Pricing for smoothie was a bit high but it was refreshing because it was very hot that day. I guess it's an okay place for tourists or visitors if you're in the suburbs and don't have a better option. Think of this place like McRamen. People who don't know food very well will rave about it. Everything here that isn't meat comes out of a packet or a jar, which the owner seems to think is how the "real Japanese" do things which...no. Ramen is an ancient and important tradition, and while it's fine to have a fast food version of that, that's what this is. Not high quality dining. We chose to dine at Noodle City on a cold Tuesday night. We arrived at about 5:30pm to find the restaurant packed. Every table full and we had to wait about 15 minutes for a table. Very promising that it was this full on an early Tuesday night! Atmosphere- while it's not fancy, it is clean has nice decor, and a good music selection. Approximately 13 tables and a view into the kitchen uptown entering. Food- we ordered a wing sampler (Korean black garlic, Vietnamese, and Thai peanut), and the spring rolls. -the ramen took about 45 minutes to dine out, but it was well worth it! We both ordered the Tonkotsu ramen which had a good amount of pork and noodles, along with peppers to make it spicy. The broth was very flavorful and creamy, and I wish there was more of it! -wings- we didn't find the Thai peanut or black garlic to have much flavor which was disappointing, but the Vietnamese wings were fantastic. -crispy rolls- standard rolls, but tasty, with crunchy veggies inside and a sweet chili sauce. Service- the service is the reason for the missing star. I was not impressed with either sever as they were short and not very friendly. We stacked our dirty appetizer plates after eating the spring rolls, as we wanted new plates for the wings. The waitress put our stack on her tray, and then put them back on the table for us for the wings. At that point we definitely needed new plates! As the food was really good, I hope the service is better on our next trip. Overall- overall a good experience. Great food but mediocre service. Doragon is a great local eatery with superb food and very caring and hard working owners. They've done their level best to deal with covid challenges this past year but it appears that there are some very uncaring, selfish people who don't understand staffing shortages and that sometimes mistakes happen...like 100 orders coming in online in 30 minutes. It's a small place and it's difficult to believe that people can't be more understanding and realize that the owners wouldn't purposely make customers wait a long time for their orders. We should all celebrate and praise this local business for the phenomenal job they've done over this past year. They pivoted and also became a place where you could buy provisions, veggies, meat, etc. when it was SO scary and difficult to go shopping without having to worry about crowded stores and a raging pandemic with no end in sight. This ramen shop popped up on my feed and I decided to try it with a few friends. I ate at a ton of ramen shops and my expectations were not that high compared to all of the other ramen spots in MA being alright or mediocre. The shop is small, I would say there are about 20 seats. Our server was great and very attentive. Appetizer: We ordered the Wing Sampler, Yuzu, Peanut, and Thai Dragon. The wings were good and crispy. Came out hot and juicy. I would recommend. Entree: I ordered the spiciest ramen Doragon hell fire ramen, which I thought would be very spicy with ghost peppers and scorpion peppers, but I was disappointed with the spice level not living up to my expectations. The portion was big with a lot of toppings. It had good flavor overall. This bowl did not come with the traditional ramen noodles, but came with wide egg like noodles which i would compare to pasta noodles. It was a little pricey at $24 for the spiciest bowl. Dessert: We ordered the fresh mochi ice cream, passion fruit, lychee, mango, and mandarin orange. They're all delicious. Doragon Raman used to be one of the best takeout places in metro west. The ingredients are generally very high quality and veggies are crisp and fresh. The wings are plump and juicy. The chive dumplings were out of this world. It has always been expensive ($15-20) for soup once you add some veggies but it used to be worth it. The last two times we ordered they proved to be not worth the price. A couple months ago we order several soups and some apps. We waited an hour and a half for our order called several times and were told it would be right out, just waiting for the apps to come out. After over an hour of waiting we got the order home and there were no apps. It's very frustrating to hear that the wings are in the fryer over and over for an hour. It's outrageous to wait an hour for wings and not get the wings. When we called back they told us the wings were in the bag. I had to drive back to get the food and they didn't even apologize for the mistake. So we took a little break from them. Fast forward to tonight. Pulled up for curbside takeout and called. Watched from the car while the woman working the counter leaned in the counter and ignored the phone. When she finally picked up she informed me that if the food was ready they would bring it right out. I waited 15 more minutes and called again. She told me the same. By this time we had waited 40 minutes. I asked why the delay she said they were very busy. I could see from the parking lot that they were not busy. There was a lot of standing around in there. I asked her to check on how much longer we would have to wait and she said she was not allowed to do that. Not allowed to check on the order? That's crazy. I asked to speak to a manger the manager got on the phone and said the order was coming out right now. She deliver the order to the wrong car. When we finally got our order home the dumplings were soggy the wings were not seasoned the soup was cold one had 1/2 the noodles as the next. The veggie mix was different even though two orders were identical. All and all just disappointing. We used to rave about this place. It was the best around, but the past 2-3 visits have really soured me on it. The quality has really gone down and the customer service is beyond terrible. I don't expect we'll be back. read more

I don't mind paying for good food, but see below. * Bland food -- Every broth we tried either tasted like watered down miso or some sort of light vegan broth (let alone for example a supposed chicken broth simmered for 8 hours). Chicken wings with amazing sounding sauce like blood orange hoison or yuzu miso just taste like Chinese restaurant fried chicken. I've had ramen in Japan and I wasn't expecting that -- For the pricing and reviews I'd at least expect the food here to match somewhere like the restaurants at Lesley in Porter Square, but no, far from it. Noodle City is a small spot in an even smaller town. You'd expect a set-up like this will be highly westernized and lacking the authentic flavors of Japan. However, I am happy to report that this place is absolutely amazing. They ramen is delicious and so is their katsu. The one that I got had a rich pork broth with all the other accouterments. The chicken katsu had a great umami sauce with a dry seasoning. The only issue is that all the bubble tea was smoothie style and they didn't have anything iced. If you are driving in I-90 and find yourself craving for a bowl of hot ramen, this place is definitely worth the detour. read more

I had the Doragon Ramen. It was so spicy that I couldn't eat the broth. It only has 2 Chili's next to it on the menu, but there are others with 5 chili's. Yikes. The broth was delicious just too spicy for me and I've been to Thailand 20 times and enjoyed their spicy food, but this is on a new level. Loaded with noodles, pork belly, vegetables, and a perfectly cooked soft boiled egg. For $2 more got pork meatballs. Awesome. For an app I tried the fresh summer rolls with chicken with peanut dipping sauce. Perfection. Ashland is so lucky to get an authentic Ramen/Thai noodle soup restaurant.
