YUM YUM YUM. I've heard nothing but good things about Dooby's since I've recently relocated to Baltimore. I came for lunch and was surprised on the inside. People working on their school/professional work quietly was not what I was expecting to see. I ordered the Kimchi Fried Rice with Pork Belly. Food is made to order so it was so fresh and hot. Portion was great size. Definitely had enough to take home. The pork belly was cooked PERFECTLY. Like add that to the Top 10 pieces of pork I've ever tasted. The fried egg was perfectly cooked, but I don't like my yolks runny, so that was my oversight to not ask about that. Seasoned ultra well. I would definitely get this again and can't wait to go back and try more things on the menu! read more

Was here recently to kill some time before a show at the nearby Baltimore Center Stage. Yelp didn't disappoint, this place was packed, largely with college students, and the menu is extensive. Sadly, the day we were there, the espresso machine was down, meaning no coffee was being served, but I had a lovely chai from just a tea bag. I really enjoyed the Mexican hot chocolate cookie, which had hints of cinnamon and other warm spices. It's just a shame that seating here is so hard to come by, as people were basically stalking tables on this busy Sunday afternoon. Dooby's has rules in place about computer use in order to turn tables over more quickly, but they weren't being enforced, which was annoying. If you need to study, perhaps the busiest coffee shop in the area should not be your first port of call. Looking forward to going back for coffee and a sandwich at some point soon. read more

I left Dooby's feeling dubious as to whether this place is over-hyped or if I just ordered the wrong things. The Chesapeake dumplings were the best thing my family ordered. They were bursting with seafood flavor of crab and scallop, truly unique to Baltimore Everything else was pretty much a struggle to eat. The veggie dumplings were downright bad-- we struggled to eat as many as we could because the taste was off. They definitely should have been more enjoyable for the price, which was comparable to the Chesapeake dumplings. The pork buns didn't really have much flavor, nor did the pork belly eggs Benedict. They tasted pretty bland and needed sauce. The heap of potatoes that accompanied the Benedict were fine, but would have been better balanced with a salad. I did notice that there were a lot of outlets so it seems like it would be an ok place to work on a laptop, but not very quiet. If you come here, try other menu items. read more

Came here for coffee and donuts so cant speak to their menu/food options. Ive heard their menu of korean/asian fusion food is decent, during my visit the smells from the kitchen werent too bad so i'll have to come back and give it a shot. So for the coffee and donuts, its imo one of the better spots in baltimore. There is ample seating and wifi to hang out and their coffee selection is good. The dounts they have are apparently from a local baker which were pretty good. Service here was warm and welcoming. read more

I have lived in Mount Vernon for a year now, and Dooby's was recommended to me when I moved here. First, I tried their coffee. I found it disgusting, and EXTREMELY overpriced, especially for the poor quality received. Next, the food was recommended to me. I tried one of their dinner burgers, and not only was there gristle in my burger, it did not taste good AT ALL. Neither did any of the sides. Finally, I tried breakfast this morning and the sausage tasted rancid and was not appetizing AT ALL. After more than 3 tries, I confidently tell ANYONE that Dooby's is the POOREST quality cafe in Mount Vernon. It's location is what makes it sell, and it has an indoor work space. Recommendations that are comparable in price and superior in quality- Cafe Fili, Ash Bar, Charmed, Marie Louis bistro on weekends. The staff? Incredible. The food and coffee? Disgusting. I do not fault their staff and they have always been exceptional at resolving the issue. But after multiple tries, I must say, this is NOT the place to go. read more

I've stopped in here a couple times for coffee drinks when in the area and has yet to be disappointed. The staff is always super friendly and nice, being sure to use my name throughout the process. So far I've tried an assortment of coffee drinks and a dessert but I am sure I'll be back to sample a few other things on the menu! The pie I had was amazing! It was just sweet enough to hit the spot but not be overkill. The decor seems a little dark at first but plenty of seating if you want to set up shop and get a little work done. I would recommend sitting near a window if you want additional light. On my most recent visit I noticed how crowded the place could get, but the staff moved quickly so those of us that was getting to-go didn't have to stand around too long. read more

Came here for the first time, for breakfast the other day and loved it! I had no idea Dooby's was Korean inspired but I got really excited when I found out it was. I ordered the steak, egg and cheese breakfast sandwich, and the London Fog with nonfat milk, and seriously was blown away. The London fog was delicious and not too sweet, while the steak in the sandwich was straight up perfectly cooked Korean BBQ meat. I don't usually actually like breakfast food that much but this sandwich was so amazing I would go back and eat it any time of the day.. although I am excited to try the other stuff on their menu as well. As a side note, the little park right adjacent to the restaurant is so cute and has little tables that you can sit at to eat. read more

Neither of these options disappointed...in fact, the pork buns were out of this world and a huge portion for the price. Staff has been helpful and friendly, and this place is always pretty clean. Run do not walk to Dooby's. I am still kicking myself for not stopping here much sooner. The food is absolutely delicious. I came for lunch last Thursday and was blown away by the delicious and I mean delicious Korean BBQ Cheese steak. When I say this sandwich was money, it's just that darn good. From the bread that was baked to perfection in house mind you, crunchy on top and soft in the middle. So you have that crunch factor going on with every savory bite, then the sweet from the BBQ and the nice amount of heat from the kimchi. You are in absolute heaven. I also had the pleasure of trying the fruity pebble cookie which was absolutely the best cookie I have ever tasted, it was on the lines of a butter crunch cookie with fruity pebbles and marshmallows. Just decadent. Also if you just want to stop in for a cup of coffee, not only does the staff provide you with regular coffee that is on tap, but every week they feature a coffee from a different country. Last week I had the pleasure of trying a delicious medium bodied coffee from Rwanda that was the best coffee that I ever had. Also you are able to purchase the bags in house and have them grinded as well just an FYI. Oh and they also do catering, so if you have an office event or just want to have lunch delivered, Please, please support Dooby's you will not be disappointed. Dooby's also has happy hour and dinner as well, Happy hour is from 4 to 7 with $1 dollar off their crafted cocktails. And for you beer aficionados they supply Union Craft Brewery on tap which is very nice to know. I haven't had the liberty of partaking in happy hour here as of yet, but they are on my list. Phil and his staff are just the most friendliest and helpful people one the face of the planet, and once you become a regular they know you by name which is always a selling point for me. It makes you feel welcome whenever you step through the glass doors. Will I return, but of course I will, I cannot walk by here without peeking my head in to grab a cup of coffee or just to grab a bite to eat. Came to Dooby's for my birthday dinner and it was absolutely wonderful! Not only was the food delicious but the service was absolutely amazing! I made a reservation for 12 people and we were seated at a long wooden table with stools. When the waiter found out it was my birthday, he even bought me a drink of my choice (One for the Homies). I also tried their negroni drink which has egg white in it, giving it a foamy texture. The drinks were unique, tasty, and quite strong. The food at Dooby's is Korean fusion, which puts a spin on your traditional Korean food. For example, they have a bibimbap dish that you can get brown rice with or have it with quinoa instead. The menu is very gluten free friendly and also a lot of vegetarian options (tofu). I ordered the Roasted Chicken Kimchi Jigae Curry, which consisted of brown rice with roasted eggplant, spinach, asian pear & daikon slaw. I am a huge fan of daikon and eggplant and the dish did not disappoint. The asian pear provided a mild sweet touch to the dish. Disclaimer: this dish is very different from the traditional kimchi jigae, which is more spicy, soupy, and tangy. I had a bite of the Dooby's burger, which was amazing so I will definitely be trying that next time I come here. The atmosphere is chic and modern, but has a more casual feel than fancy. I've been stopping by Dooby's in Mt Vernon now for a while. It's almost a must coffee stop when I'm the area. However, I had not tried any dishes for lunch/dinner up to this point. That all changed after scheduling a lunch meeting with a friend! I am a big fan of ramen noodles so I figured I would try what they had to offer. I was so happy I made that decision!!! I got the Spicy Gochujang Pork Ramyun but subbed the pork for roasted chicken and held the kimchi. I'm not a fan of kimchi and felt like having chicken (since this comes with a chicken broth). Anyways! WOW! The soup was amazing! Since, I have came back 3 times for the same ramen and cannot wait to stop in again for more! PS. Dooby's is great to work out of during business hours. I like this place and would love to come back for something other than breakfast. While I only ate the egg and cheese sandwich I can say that it was very well done. My only complaint was that I thought I could brave the over easy egg that came with the sandwich but it was way too messy. It was almost like poached. While it was still delicious, I would recommend getting it cooked differently if you order it. The bf ordered the Home-style breakfast plate and the potatoes were so good I kept going back for more. Dooby's is a very hipstery coffee shop/Korean inspired restaurant in the heart of Mount Vernon. Their outdoor seating area for the COVID times is great, and the food is pretty good. They make good cookies! Unfortunately, I've found that in the "normal times," Dooby's is usually too crowded and too loud to actually get much work done, if you're going for the coffee-shop work vibe. I have to honest, I don't really understand the fusion of coffee-shop with Korean food. The main issue I have with Dooby's is the price tag: everything on the menu feels more expensive and pretentious than it needs to be. There's another ramen place in Baltimore...*squeal* I was a bit Doobious but after trying it out I'd say it's a great option if you're in Baltimore around dinner (because it's currently only offered on the dinner menu, and it only comes in one flavor: shoyu). I'm not a ramen expert, but I've tried ramen in DC/NYC and the new Ten Ten Ramen down the street and I can say it will satisfy a ramen fix. Breaking it down: Cost: $12 Noodles: curly and chewy Broth: clear and flavorful, it's not milky, a tad salty but didn't bother me because...(see meat) Meat: I was doobious again when I saw the 2 pieces of pork belly, it was the thickest, biggest I've ever seen in ramen. I'm usually not into big pieces of meat. It looked plain like it was boiled. But the beauty of it, I found, was in how it balanced very well with the slightly salty broth and veggies. It was nice and tender, that meat-falling-off-the-bone texture. I ended up liking it! Veggies: cooked sprouts, nori, corn, bamboo shoots (these are similar to the ones at Ten Ten), scallions and kimchi (tasted good). Good proportion to the meat. Egg: it was like a tea egg with the yolk kind of runny, as well as a bit of the egg white Fish cake: 3 pieces of the white thing with a pink swirl So you're asking: Ten Ten or Dooby's? If you want good meat and don't mind paying a bit more, Dooby's--they do have pork bun but it was $7, out of my price range. If you want more ramen variety to pick from and want other stuff like pocky, bubbletea, takoyaki, etc, go to Ten Ten. In my opinion, both are great and will do just fine for a ramen craving! read more

I was visiting Baltimore for the first time and was looking for a vegetarian-friendly place near The Peabody Library. I'm so glad I found Dooby's. I built a bowl with rice and greens, Marinated Tofu, and spicy sesame sauce. The bowl was beautiful -- and the amount of tofu they give you is incredibly generous; I felt so blessed. The sauce was delicious and had a great kick. My fiancé ordered the Japanese Stir Fry noodles with tofu which was also good but not quite as exciting as the bowl I ordered. Overall we both enjoyed our food and the vibe of the place. I also really appreciated that they compost. It's not something I see too much of where I live, so I'm always excited when a restaurant goes the extra mile to separate trash from recycling from compost. read more

Quite good together, along with iced jasmine green tea. Couldn't help having the fine dark choc budino with cacao nib creme fraiche. Very good, best mousse I've had anywhere for a while. Decided to try this place after looking at the reviews. We got the avocado toast to start, then my wife got the homestyle breakfast while I got the spicy pork ramyun. All were really good. I really enjoyed the pork belly. While the ramyun was spicy, it was not overwhelmingly hot. While I am not a huge avocado fan, the avocado toast was tasty and my wife really enjoyed her eggs, bacon sausage and potatoes. There were a lot of people coming in, yet the line kept moving and our food came relatively quickly, which is always a plus. Staff was friendly and helpful. read more

The ramen was good, as was the avocado toast--but it was pretty pricey for ...well i mean...toast. The bowls were a complete miss. I would definitely NOT recommend the rice bowls. They were bland and not impressive at all. Taste 3/5 The other thing is that it took a whole to get our dishes out--and the dishes didn't come out together. The cashiers were very nice as it was all of our first time, and were very helpful explaining the ordering process and the menu. Customer Service was 5/5. The dining area was smaller than I expected, and it got a bit crowded during my visit there on a Saturday at noon. I haven't tried to study here, but it doesn't seem like there is the comfiest seating (mostly stools without cushions on counters). FOOD I got the miso pork ramyun and my friend got the Korean BBQ cheesesteak. Both were generous portions. The ramen had three substantial pieces of pork belly which I was pleasantly surprised by (usually there is barely any meat given in many of the ramen locations I've gone to). I thought the addition of kimchi was a bit odd with the miso, but overall the dish was good and very filling. The Korean BBQ cheesesteak was a great fusion of flavors and, per my friend, was very filling. SERVICE You order at the counter and take a number, then someone will come by and bring you your food! Easy process, friendly employees. ATMOSPHERE Like I said, I came here during lunchtime on a Saturday (~11AM). It was pretty busy, and we ended up having to share half of our table with another group of customers. It was perfectly fine with us, but it spoke to how small the location is (maybe a total of 6 to 8 tables in the back). The decor is nice and I can imagine it's a cozy place when less busy. However, I can only speak to my experience which left me with the impression that I wouldn't want to come back during a lunch or dinner rush. I love their pork belly ramen/bowl. The ramen tends to be on the salty side, but I usually let them know I'd like to have it less salty and everything is good. If you're looking for a cute cafe with a hipstery vibe AND yummy food, check this place out. Their menu is both American and Korean infused. One of my friends that I came here with was a vegetarian and she loved how many options she got to choose from. The workers in the front are also super helpful in recommending things to your taste and diet restrictions. I ordered the japchae noodles with kbbq steak. The noodles weren't soggy and it didn't taste like sweet potatoes either, which is how the menu described it. I'm not complaining though cause they were super generous with the protein. I have been in Baltimore for about a week and kept wanting to get Dooby's. I would look at their menu drooling must find a way to get there. Tonight I finally was able to order from there. Perfect timing since it coincides with the Olympics in South Korea. I ordered the Korean spicy street style noodles with roasted chicken. I loved it! All I can say is Dooby's made me break my 7 day streak of no meat. And the Korean Cheesesteak is what did me in. Now I've had Dooby's bookmarked for a long time, and never paid a visit. If I lived in the area, Dooby's would be my spot to catch up on some work, hang out with my friends, or just spend a lazy sunday enjoying the atmosphere, the people, and of course the food. A nice hipster style cafe that has big, bold, flavorful food, and a charming and inviting atmosphere that almost welcomes you to talk to the other patrons. Since the menu wasn't that extensive, I went back and forth, trying to figure out what I wanted. I settled on the Korean Cheesesteak, since that was the main reason why I wanted to try Dooby's. (Where has this cheesesteak been all of my life!!!) Super tender, flavorful meat, covered in melted provolone cheese, and topped with this G-sauce that just drips out of the sub. I'm literally craving one right now as I type this review. It was the best cheesesteak to fall of my "no meat" bandwagon. And I'm happy I did it. The food looks really good, but doesn't taste all that great. I ordered the cheesesteak and mac-n-cheese. The cheesesteak is bulgogi, which to me is a sweet meat. There aren't any fixins present other than cheese and their secret sauce, which is also kind of sweet. Overall, it was a sweet sandwich and that's not what I was after. The mac-n-cheese was a little bland and also had the secret sauce on it. It just wasn't good. Originally I'd thought to return to Dooby's to try other items because I thought I chose the wrong foods to try. I decided not to when I realized I was charged twice for the mac-n-cheese and although the person behind the counter said they refunded me the money, they did not. I called a few times to try to resolve it, but apparently only the manager can look into refunds and he was never available. I don't live in the area so I can't exactly pop in to speak with someone. The menu was kinda big and ranged from breakfast food to Asian, but we were able to decipher on ramen and two appetizers. All was delicious! I'd say though, being in the back kind of felt isolated and more of like that cafe type of deal where you go up for your refill of water or what ever else you needed. I visited here on this past Saturday at around 4:00 PM. Overall I liked the vibe. It was a chill atmosphere. The wait to order wasn't long although it did take a bit of time for the food to come out to the table. I ordered the jap chae with Korean bbq steak. It was good overall but the steak didn't taste like the Korean bbq that I expected. I would order the dish again but I would try a different protein. I also had the matcha cookie which I thought was good. The only thing that frustrated me during this visit was that when I asked the staff person who was taking orders about the restroom he was sort of vague about the bathroom situation. Turns out there's a key that was not available at the time and so I had to wait to use the restroom. The wait was not the issue. I thought the restroom was a one person stall and so when I saw someone come out I asked that person for the key and learned that that person had his own personal key. I was a bit confused and went back to the same staff person to inquire a bit further and he acted as if I was getting on his nerves or as if I was inconveniencing him when asking for clarification on the restroom situation. It's not as if the staff person was overly busy with customers but even if he was busy he could've have responded in a better manner. read more
