These donuts are seriously satisfying. They're pretty big thick heavy girthy donuts. One is enough to leave you full, but I had 3 over a few hours. Each one left me wanting the next. I tried the maple bar, my go-to for any donut shop. It was nicely layered and filling but not greasy. Then I had a cake donut with chocolate and sprinkles which would go well with coffee. For my 3rd trip to the donut box I got a chocolate bar, which would've paired nicely with a glass of milk given that delicious chocolate layer. That's this critic's review, until next time, I'll be eating. read more

I am not sure what happened to this place. Clearly new ownership or maybe they passed on the business but it is not the same. We used to be greeted by the older cheerful couple, today walked in, waited around (no line/no customers) waited some more... finally was asked what I wanted. No dialog other than my total. Donuts seem the same but ambiance and service have gone downhill. Sad to see. read more

Love this donut shop! My husband has been the sole donut procurer until this morning but he doesn't have Yelp. So this was my first time in person here and they had a line out the door (Approx 10 people) at 730AM on a Saturday. Despite this, the line moved quickly and I was ordering within about 2 minutes. I totally understand the line! The donuts are delicious - usually I get an apple fritter but went for a bear claw this time (it had apple filling!) and plus the chocolate chip roll for the hubs. Total came to $6.75 which is exceedingly reasonable given each of these was about the size of my head. Their apple fritters are bomb in general but I might be a bear claw chica now! Do not eat here! Every time we come the donuts are super dry and they always mess up our order up. We ask for a bagel sandwich and either get it on a croissant or a hamburger bun. For a dozen donuts and 2 sandwiches it cost $42. I called to let them know this wasn't our order and the manager yelled at me saying to bring them back, he wants to "try them." While my son was taking a bite of one of the donuts, we found a sticker inside and he almost choked. Avoid this place at all cost. They are so rude and the donuts are awful! read more

This place seems to be the real deal according to the reviews so I had to try it out. This is next to the Hawaiian BBQ spot in a fairly small parking lot which can get pretty crowded. The first thing I noticed about the place was the long line. The second thing I noticed was how the owner knew everyone. The third thing was how stocked the pans were with donuts! Shout out to George for helping out a newb like me. He was really cool, kind and patience. So, I tried all the usuals of course to test out the place. I also ordered a breakfast sausage croissant sandwich. The croissant sandwich was pretty good but the donuts were so much better. Sugar donuts 5/5. Glazed donuts 5/5. Donut holes 5/5. Experience 5/5. I absolutely love this donut shop!! Whenever my boyfriend and I are in his hometown of moorpark we always make sure to stop in. Even if we don't want a donut or croissant we still go in to grab something small and talk to the owners. They are soo nice and always make the best conversation. An icon of Moorpark-- Donut Shop West! Thankfully, whether you come super early in the AM or like to sleep-in, they always have a plentiful glass case of delicious donuts, pastries, and more. Their bagel sandwiches are also a great option for those who like savory and hearty breakfast choices. In my efforts to support local small businesses, it seems as though I tend to gravitate towards donut shops. Great for them (hopefully) however not as great for my waistline ;) Donut Shop West is a small shop with an even smaller parking lot. Still it's worth the parking stress to stop by because the donuts are quite good. We really enjoyed the chocolate cake donut along with the buttermilk maple. Customer service was pleasant and friendly as well and we were able to get in and out rather quickly. There isn't much of an area to eat the donuts onsite so plan to eat in the car if you are so tempted. Appreciate Donut Shop West being open and well stocked in many varieties. Looking forward to supporting them throughout the pandemic and beyond! read more

Their chocolate chip donut is so DELICIOUS ! I got 2 b/c 1 wasn't enough. I went right before they closed on a Sunday and I regret not going earlier to get more than 2 chocolate chip donuts. It's a chocolate on chocolate on chocolate donut. Wooooww! There's chocolate glaze sprinkled with chocolate chips on the top and inside is more chocolate glaze. Love this place! Hands down my favorite donut shop in Moorpark. No matter what time I come in, their donuts are always super fresh and delicious. And how do they make it so soft?! It's located in a little plaza and with limited parking but people come and go so you can manage to find a spot. Customer service is prompt and courteous. The owners are always so nice and friendly too. They make an effort to actually converse with you. That's def a huge plus in my books. Another plus is that they take cards, not like other donut shops that only take cash. I hate that! But there's a $20 minimum or it's a 0.50 cent charge, which is fine with me because I never carry cash. They also have boba drinks, coffee, and lattes. I haven't had a chance to try any of them yet but planning on it. They have giant churros and yummy baked fritters. The only thing I wish they had are cronuts. But then again, maybe not. Because I'll probably be coming here every weekend! read more

Friendly owners, greeted me with a warm smile and environment. Your "Cheers" type shop. Regulars were greeted by name and just felt cozy overall. Bagel breakfast sandwiches are great! I have been going to this donut shop since I was a little boy, and now take my two sons 20 years later who are about the same age I was. The same owners run the shop, and the donuts remain the best I've ever had. Do yourself a favor and make the stop, it'll be worth it. read more

2.5 stars Stopped in during a pit stop, my first visit to this city. I ordered an apple fritter and my wife ordered a chocolate twist, and we shared a milk. My fritter was over cooked in some areas and had pockets of doughiness in the middle, but overall was average. My wife enjoyed hers. Ambience was outdated roadside cafe, and staff was super friendly. Price was $5, so slightly above expectations. With a donut shop on every corner in this state I can't say I would return...this joint does not make the list. read more

Cute little donut shop that's been here forever. Hasn't changed since I was a kid. The owners are very friendly and provide quick and courteous service. The donuts, breakfast sandwiches and coffee drinks are all great. They have other stuff, but I usually order the same thing. I actually don't come here often because I'd get fat if I did yet somehow it seems like they remember me and that's always a nice feeling. I recommend coming early in the morning on weekends for the best of the best. read more

I should probably figure out how to break that chain in my brain. Today's adventure was a busted MRI appointment. Later, after a relaxing dinner with Dear Hubby, I asked him where the best donuts were to be found between the restaurant and home. He immediately suggested Foster's Donuts, so we made the small detour. A very nice lady took care of us. Despite it being almost 7:00 p.m., when they close at 9:00, there were still full cases of yummy treats. I'm enjoying a maple glazed traditional donut as I write this review. My taste buds are happy, and my mood is improving. What more could you hope for from light fried dough with sugary topping? Yum!
