I am a donut lover and these are the best in the Conejo Valley. They sell out so go early. Love that the sweetness of the yeast donuts isn't too sweet from the dough but from the glazes or toppings. The yeast donuts are super light and fluffy and they must change their oil often because they never taste of gross old oil. The owner (I think he is) is a little shy but once you get to know him he's super nice! Honestly get there early for the best selection because they do sell out! Can't speak to their cake donuts because I only get yeast ones but they look and smell delicious! read more

The last three times I've been here. I've been sold day old donuts and they've been definitely stale. It's super unfortunate because I don't get day old prices or the knowledge of me getting old donuts if that were the case I just gone to the grocery store. I ended up throwing every single one of these away every single time it's been a waste of money. read more

The donuts are always good. Never greasy or old fryer oil tasting. I go in for the jalapeño ham & cheese croissant that they make. Also use this shop for advanced special orders. Everyone working here is courteous and does their best to get you in and out. read more

Decent donuts. Typical donut store service. A lot of these bad reviews are super old. So figured I'd try bump that up. Would go here again!

Best donuts in Southern California! They are very generous with the frosting and the donuts are large. Outstanding flavor and always fresh. Excellent customer service. Hidden gem in Thousand Oaks. Highly recommend. read more

Great fresh donuts, specially in the morning hours where it's coming out fresh. Gotta go before the afternoon before most of the better flavors sell out! People complain about service, it's owned locally by this old guy who asks what you want and that's it. I don't see any issue with that, I don't need him to smile and do a backflip for me. He doesn't yell at you or make you feel uncomfortable. He's nice to the point where you'll get a greeting and a goodbye with your donuts. One of my favorite donut shops, great flavors, and never stale. Will usually get a few with a coffee or a ham/cheese croissant. It's been here since I could remember (20+ years). read more

While in the area, I decided to stop in this shop for a donut and coffee treat. I've never actually been to this particular donut shop before. Considering that there are many donut shops all over the place, I thought this place was definitely a cut above most of the others. The donuts were large and quite tasty, and also reasonably priced. The only concern I might express is that this shop does not have any tables inside should you wish to consume your snack right there. There are some benches right outside in front of the place, so you can certainly sit there and eat if you so wish weather permitting. read more

Some of the best donuts around! I'm on a mission to try them all in the area lol I don't mind! But seriously, while shopping at Trader Joe's I decided some donuts were necessary afterwards. The place is a little small inside and outside resembled a shop and go, but don't let it deter you. I was absolutely delighted to see two full display cases of amazing looking donuts. Large pastries, cinnamon rolls, donuts, bear claws, apple fritters, you name it they had it. It was so hard to choose what to get! I ended up with a LARGE glazed with sprinkles donut, a French cruller, Boston cream, and a glazed old fashioned. The donuts were so light and fluffy, so flavorful, and very large. The Boston cream was filled more than I've ever had a donut be! Everything was delicious and I will be back for sure. read more

Great croissants. Big, flakey, delicious. Donuts are ok. The coconut was a little disappointing.

The donuts are always fresh and tasty when purchasing. The service is always quick and gets us to where we need to go quickly.

Great spot in Thousand Oaks. Very friendly with great tasting donuts. They are often very busy but work incredibly hard to serve customer after customer. I often place good-sized orders for my team, which is always welcome with much fan faire. read more

We came around 7am and there was a constant flow of people. They seemed to have a lot of regulars that come in. One guy came in and the server immediately knew what he wanted. The server was nice and explained what everything was to us. We got about 10 donuts for $19. Everything was very yummy. I would definitely come back and try more donuts! read more

Rude service, filthy location and stale donuts. Hard pass.

Back in college, I perversely became a fan of apple fritters with a Diet Pepsi accompaniment. This would be a substitute for breakfast or lunch. Ah, the good old days! It's not been easy to find a source of apple fritters to match up with the memories if the ones in my nostalgic taste buds. Somewhere along the road of living in the Conejo, I discovered Fresh Donuts. Score! They produce flavorful fritters. I've also enjoyed their chocolate old fashioned donuts, loaded with icing. Mmmm. On Thursday evening, after several errand stops that didn't go as planned, I decided that a chocolate-laced sugar fix was in order and cruised in. Had the place to myself, and my order was quickly filled. I enjoyed half of a choc. old fashioned in the car, discovering my capacity for the richness doesn't go as far as it once did. Took the rest home, along with a maple bar for D.H., and a fritter for my breakfast. Sadly, the anticipated fritter treat didn't measure up this time. It was beyond day old status - dry and over cooked. There are way worse problems, but this knocked down the rating. Will still go back in the future, as any place can have a bad day. read more

Lots of classic donut choices. My biggest gripe is that the shop is poorly run. With 3 girls working behind the counter they somehow gave away the wrong donuts to the wrong person - TWICE. It was not surprising, waiting in line I could sense the 'chaos' behind the counter. I got a coffee and found the preparation area to be a complete mess. I did them a solid and threw away stir straws and empty sugar packs. If you need to address a donut craving the Fresh Donuts shop will do, but it's not anything special. read more

First time going to Fresh donuts... and the donuts weren't fresh lol obviously I don't expect a donut shop to have fresh donuts 100% of the day, but the two donuts and 3 donut holes that I had weren't great. I'll try soon again early morning to see if that changes it up. The lady behind the counter wasn't rude to me, I'm white if that changes anything here, but she was a bit hasty. She wants to move some donuts! Which I get. read more

I've spent most of my life in Thousand Oaks and have many fond memories of stopping by Fresh Donuts over the years. After being out of the area for a number of years I had a craving for croissants and donuts this Sunday morning and wanted to see if my old stomping ground still had its edge. Boy was I impressed. While parking is a pain in the butt, Fresh Donuts was hopping with customers! I waited a short 2-3 minutes and was taken care of efficiently. I ordered 1 - jalapeño hand and cheese croissant, 1 - ham and cheese croissant, 1 glazed twist, and 1 chocolate glazed twist. They asked if I wanted the croissant warmed up and the answer was "of course"! The croissant was fresh and flavorful, and the jalapeño was actually a little spicy which I thought was really awesome. Split the croissant and chocolate glazed and the donut did not disappoint either! Fresh, not overly sweet, and left me wanting more. I'm going to have to become a regular here! I'd recommend you all give them a shot too! read more

Fresh Donuts - Ham and cheese croissant! Really good sized! - Donuts Near Me - Thousand Oaks, California

What happened to this place? It used to be well stocked with all kinds of good things. Now most of the display cases are empty and the selection sparse. And the staff is just rude, acting like customers are an unwelcome irritation. What a shame. read more

"I see you got the big boy." Okay, so it wasn't the way I would have liked this passer-by to have phrased it, but my chocolate chip roll was the size of a small football. I've posted a picture of this honkin' piece of donut, next to my orange juice just to show the sheer donut fortitude, but unfortunately Yelp doesn't let me replace pictures so you're stuck with the unedited version I accidentally uploaded. I don't know why I thought this would be good. When I had more limited experience with Fresh Donuts, I used to say they're a little better than the Vienna Bakery's donuts -- now I'll have to do an exact flip-flop. I've had some donuts here ranging from pretty good to just plain bad, which was what the chocolate chip roll was. The muffins are big and better than they look, but still no comparison to the Vienna Bakery, and certainly not Donut Depot. In this case, the chocolate frosting tasted like everybody else's and the chocolate filling was good -- where you could find it, which was in surprisingly little places. This coincided with my previous experiences with Fresh Donuts, which is that the fillings and frostings are fine and my real problem is the dough. In this case, it was like eating a grocery store's round sandwich roll, only dried out and overcooked to the point of being almost burnt. They have no tables and no bathroom, but two stools with a counter. I usually applaud the counter, but this one is a section of a side too small to be usable. Fortunately, the strip mall itself provides nice benches alongside vertical posts, but then you have no table of any sort. There are an assortment of packaged drinks like Sobe bottles and Coke cans in two coolers, and they have cinnamon rolls that I haven't tried. The giant chocolate chip rolls aren't the only huge creations and cost less than $2, but there's no point in getting a lot of bad taste. They take credit cards, but with a $10 minimum that makes it pointless. The service varies by person, but is surprisingly bad for a donut store and in this case I found it snippy. They do have good hours, but now that reasonably nearby Stan's is 24-hour, there's just no point in going to Fresh Donuts. read more

Reasonably priced donuts. The donut holes were hard as rocks though. Our maple and chocolate bars were good. Pass on the ham and cheese croissant as the ham is way too salty. read more

My office has picked up from them regularly and they never disappoint! Yeast donuts are light and soft, cake donuts have a nice crunchy crust on them (but aren't hard/stale like Dunkin Donuts!). The donuts here are not bad however the thing that turned me off completely was the man behind the counter not wearing a mask. I hadn't thought much of it until we got outside and my boyfriend brought it to my attention. In the middle of this pandemic food service workers should all be wearing a mask. I tried to let it go, ate my donut and spent the rest of the day absolutely kicking myself for doing something so careless. I really hope this guy is at least using proper hygiene aside from not wearing a mask while working closely with food. I don't think I'll be back. That really bothered me. read more

They really aren't very nice, but their donuts, rock my socks, especially their blueberry donuts. They kind of treat you like YOU are bothering them by coming in, and if the kind of donut you want is behind them on a baking sheet but not in display, they won't consider reaching behind them and giving you a fresh one. You are S.O.L. Think *donut natzi* like the infamous *soup natzi* of Seinfield. "No donut for you!" We frequent this place anytime we play out of PJ's for APA. read more

FRESH DONUTS have the absolute best Chocolate Chip Muffins I have ever had!!! Their Croissants, Almond Cigars and Donuts are also excellent. Everything is so fresh and tasty. I don't know how they do it but everything I've had there is perfect!!! Everyone who works at the family owned business is super nice and friendly. This place has decent doughnuts. The selection is fine the people are hit and miss here. The lady today was actually friendlier than I remember. The prices here are on the expensive side comparatively for doughnuts. Past that I really just wanted to note the BEST item they sell here. CIGAR $1.90 (worth it!) Chocolate, Brown Sugar & Cinnamon perfectly blended in this easy pastry style crust.... SWEET-SIN If you are in the area or debating to try this place. The Cigar is absolutely worth a visit to Fresh Donuts. read more

Worst coffee ever. Was in a rush and thought maybe the coffee would be okay. But no stills a major headache.

This is a review that is based solely in donut quality. Their old fashioned chocolate donuts are the best thing i've ever eaten and the apple fritters are way up there too. The people who run the place don't seem nice at first, but eventually you can develop a relationship where they will warm up. Not that you need to, of course. The last thing i'm worried about when buying a donut is whether or not the person serving it is happy-go-lucky. This place puts the chain donut shops to shame!!!! read more

This place has very poor service. Just like all the other reviewers have mentioned there is that person behind the counter who is dismissive, rude, and overseeing on racist. I ignore all these shortcomings because they have that maple one I like. read more

I can't believe this place has such negative reviews! The donuts are so delicious. I think this was the best Boston cream I've ever had. The dough was very tender and it was stuffed with cream. The apple fritter was also perfectly crunchy on the outside but the perfect texture inside. I don't normally care for a plain yeast donut but I had a bite of one and I thought it was delicious. The donuts are extremely fresh (the name rings true) and definitely a value to the neighborhood. read more

They got really good Donuts and the Mexican lady with the lazy eye is so nice and gives me lollipops every time I go there. ;)

Local donuts place just off Moorpark Blvd in Thousand Oaks. Dozen donuts is $10.50 which is a little steep for donuts but convenient and tasty. I bought these to take to a buddies house for the USC v. Notre Dame game as a dessert this last Saturday. This place was clean and the employee here was helpful and friendly.
