Ordered Mochinut via DoorDash to gift my in-laws donuts and boba for their anniversary, and they completely dropped off the wrong order. I called multiple times and finally got to someone. I told the guy who picked up the phone that my in-laws received a completely different order, and the guy blamed it on his manager. He said the manager handed the DoorDash driver the wrong order. He jotted my number down and said that the manager will call me back that same day. That never happened. I tried calling back the next day, but tell me why it's so hard to reach someone there. This in review is based solely on my personal preference only. My rating is low, and that is usually reserved for things that are poor quality or not well-made in some capacity, and I can't say that about Mochinut. The quality of the donut seemed fine in terms of its freshness and overall presentation. However, it had a very rubbery texture, which I did not like at all. From my understanding, that is just how these kind of donuts are made, but I found it strange. As for the flavors, they looked inviting with the multiple icing colors, but when bitten into, there just wasn't much flavor, if any. I can usually accuse donuts of being too sweet, but in this case, they weren't sweet enough I'm sorry to say that these donuts are a hard pass for me. Was very excited to see Mochinut come closer to us as the next closest establishment is in the valley. During my visit, I thought that the food was pretty up to par as the other locations in terms of taste and texture. But the corn dogs are definitely something I'd eat maybe 2 times a year. It's pretty heavy and not a full meal but still pretty good. I heavily recommend the cookies & cream Mochi donut if you like the cream cheese flavor. It's a pretty small venue as there's only enough space for you to go in, order, and leave with your food. As for service, they still felt really new. We waited about 10 min for all of our food which isn't bad at all! But it definitely feels like they have some more work or training that needs to be done to keep a tight ship. read more

Mochinut just opened in Simi Valley yesterday (May 4) and so we were excited to stop by this weekend to grab some mochi donuts. While I understand that they literally just opened, I honestly had such a terrible experience with how disorganized everything was that it's going to take me a while before I have the courage to go back. Let's start with the good things first. We tried the caramel churro, cookies and cream, and blueberry donuts. The donuts were nice and chewy. I liked the blueberry one the most because it wasn't as sweet. Now on to the things that could use some improvement. They list the opening time as 11 AM but when we showed up the door was locked, and some employees came out to tell us they would be opening at 12 PM. We showed up at 12 PM and there were already customers being served and by the time we placed our order they had completely run out of their first batch of donuts. We were told that it would take 10-15 minutes, but ended up waiting for 45 minutes. I understand that with businesses just opening there are lots of things to smooth over, but waiting 45 minutes for 3 donuts just doesn't seem very reasonable. There are only about 5-6 flavors so if someone orders more than 6 donuts you may not be left with many options. I think it would be helpful to have people with larger orders call in to pre-order with the specific flavors they want. The way it's set up now, one employee takes your order (i.e. # of donuts) and a separate employee boxes up the particular flavors you want. However, things got backed up very quickly and instead of taking down people's orders of what donuts they wanted, they just had to wait and see what was available. I don't think this system is very efficient and it also makes it harder for the kitchen staff to know which flavors to make. I truly feel so bad for giving such a low review to a business that just opened, but it was truthfully just an awful experience. I almost considered asking for a refund and leaving but we had already committed so much time. This journey definitely wasn't worth it despite how tasty the donuts were. Hopefully as time goes on, the business will be able to expand the flavor options and enhance the efficiency of the workflow. read more

I was surprised to find a place like Mochinut in a place like Simi Valley. These aren't the your normal donuts so don't be surprised if the texture isn't like a typical donut. I really like the unique varieties of options Mochinut offers. I'm a sucker for anything Biscoff and it was a good 'nut to me. Other varieties that I tried and enjoyed were cookies and cream, nutella, and churro. You really can't go wrong with anything that I tried. First off, I'm somewhat of a donut connoisseur so I know my donuts. But calling their yummy treats donuts is a bit misleading. They are a chewy delight!!! I had the maple and it was amazing!! Left with a cookies and cream, maple and Nutella for my family. Sure hope they make it home I also got a milk tea with boba and it also was fantastic!! I stopped by recently after seeing them open for a few months. I love the business name, it seems to be a franchise and this shopping center in Simi with a Target and Tesla super charging is excellent for a new business. The donuts had an awesome marshmallow texture but were not too sweet. I liked every flavor. The donut boxes are colorful and unique, they remind me of the Simpsons cartoon. The two employees running the store were a great team and they were working super quickly. The quick canned cold brew coffee on the spot is cool, but it was too light on the boba, and without a straw the boba gets stuck on ice in the bottom of the can. Dear Hubby was running errands yesterday in this part of town, and came home with Habit burgers for dinner, and Mochinut donuts for dessert. I haven't been into their new store yet, but I have now definitely tasted two of their donut flavors. It's a new business, and I definitely like to encourage, instead of discourage, new businesses. To provide an honest assessment of my experience with two of their flavors, these don't seem to go with my tastebuds' expectations. Last night, I had a chocolate-covered Mochinut "donut" (really, they're like a string of pearls kind of bracelet, or donut holes strung together). The texture makes it so they hold together well as you bite into them. On the other hand, it's a denser texture than I care for in a donut, which tends to give a day-old kind of experience to biting into them. I wouldn't use "fluffy" at all to describe these donuts. The chocolate icing was tasty, so that was a plus. Today DH gave me the cookies and cream-topped one; he didn't want to flip me for it. He'd purchased a three pack. At $10 for three donuts, that's very expensive. If they were drop-dead fantastic in texture and flavor. . .maybe. But given that neither one of us was super-impressed with what made it into the box, um, not so much on the value scale. Am not sure that we'll be rushing back, especially at their price point. We do wish them well in finding their footing, as western Simi needs options for foodies. read more
