This isn't my go--to Donut Shop, but whenever I can't make the drive to mine this is a solid second for me that's conveniently located! Employees are always quick, respectful, and appreciative of receiving tips. Their donut selection is a bit more narrow than my go--to place, but theres still a respectable amount of options to choose from. Most importantly the donuts are always fresh and delicious! It's conveniently located near the highway and usually always has parking available for those commuters trying to get in and out fast. What I appreciate most is they always have a good supply of fresh donuts even closer to noon, so on those lazy days you don't have to worry about all the good stuff being gone super early. My only gripe here is that they never seem to have donut boxes, but instead place them in their pastry bags wrapped inside plastic bags. To most that's probably not a deal breaker, but boxes can be really convenient for storage. Especially since any donuts not immediately eaten will begin to have their icing adhere to the bags and completely strip off the donuts. Pricing is a little more expensive than some of the other donuts in the area, but they more than make up for it with quality and service! read more

There are numerous donut shops in Simi Valley. Some are located in places easy to get in and out of. There are others that aren't. The Donut Cafe is one of those places you kinda have to know it's there because you would pass by without noticing it. It's tucked in the corner of a line up of ever changing businesses that don't last long. So to find Donut Cafe requires some auto gymnastics. It's next door a " Hawaiian BBQ" place that's not open yet and a "Space Available" store front. The baked items on display are the usual line up of donuts, chocolate, caramel, raspberry filled and the like. My selection of a Maple Bar was quite tasty. I wanted to sit and enjoy my sugar fest however each table table top was crumb- laden and not clean. The young man in the back was too occupied with his phone to bother. I thought of saying something. On second thought if this business has not trained their employees some BASIC housekeeping rules of "engagement" then it's not my place to do so. Then I thought, people just dash and drive at this place not bothering to sit in their "cafe". So hats off to the run in and drive out customers. Oh yes, there was Asian inspired coffee and tea menu on the side illustrated board AND I could buy lottery tickets here too. So question: Would I go back? Meh, no. My son and daughter-in-law just raved about the donuts from here, and I tried one of the glazed. Okay, but far from "the best I've ever had" to use my son's own words. I stopped by this Donut cafe this morning because another donut store nearby wasn't open. I found parking easily since I came in the early morning but the parking spots are limited here unless you park a little farther. When I walked in, I saw that this place charge a credit or debit card fee unless you spend a certain minimum so be aware. I went with a small hot chocolate, a glaze donut and a chocolate glaze donut. I did not like the hot chocolate, it tasted watered down and the chocolate powder was not good at all. I didn't even finish the drink since I didn't like it. The donuts were good, I don't think you can go wrong with donuts anywhere unless it's like old. The place is small inside but you can get your lottery here as well. read more

100% of the time that the beautiful lady w the pink is working, this place is the best place to get a donut in the Tri county from 0400-4pm! Hands down! 100% of the time when it's the guys shift, he's always late and always disappoints the community. Your shop is supposed to have donuts ready by 0400 when the door opens. When he's there, customers are showing up at 0545, bc we've spread the word that you're the best donut shop in the Tri county, but you have no donuts and ask us to wait 30 more minutes for a donut?! No! Your owner should fire you bc you're the only one who is late, constantly apologizing to the customer for your lack of compassion to your store. You're going to lose SO MUCH business. Replace your Thursday and Friday morning guy and I'll come back. This is So sad ! read more

Donut Cafe is our favorite neighborhood donut shop. Their chocolate glazed is amazing, and the staff is very friendly. Just the other day, I was picking up donuts for my family when my 2 year old started having a little meltdown. I usually get to this donut shop around 9am before work and there donuts are still fresh. Very light and airy and taste great, haven't had a bad one from here yet. However getting there later in the morning, they don't always have the biggest selection. read more

The gentleman working was quite friendly and the shop was clean but in my opinion this place had a combination of the highest prices with the least variety of selection. Picked up a few ham & cheese croissants this morning for me and my family. They must have left them in the oven too long because they were dark and crispy. I tried to scrape them a bit but the burnt taste was overwhelming. Had to trash mine. Very yummy donuts! The owner is really nice and he always gives me a free donut for every dozen I buy which is awesome. The donuts are always fresh and delicious. They have ham and cheese croissants which I have a weakness for. They also make smoothies and I got a coconut smoothie last time I went and I was very surprised at how great it was. It wasn't too sweet and it was just perfect. The hot chocolate is also a plus here ! The place itself is a bit funky looking but it's always clean. Parking is limited which sucks but hey just park by the laundry mat and walk 2 minutes to the donut shop and wahla! read more

They've got a classic variety of donuts, so when I was hoping to see some blueberry or red velvet donuts, I was ever so slightly disappointed. Not a big deal at all, considering the quality of those they do have. The donuts are light and airy, not too sweet, and very well-made. I ordered a glazed, maple, and 12 donut holes for $3.50. Yelped it and tried it by buying a dozen for my crew at work - they all loved it! Very fresh - they were still bringing out fresh ones at 9:00 am - excellent! Coffee? Not so good (2.5 stars). OMG, worst tasting donuts ever. Tastes like they're dropping new batter into old oil. Donut I got today was soft, but somehow still tasted stale and had a terrible aftertaste. The Bad: First - they have different bakers making donuts which means quality and consistency is in a constant change. Sometimes really good tasting donuts and other days the worst possible. Second - you have to go there early in the morning to get a donut. Arrive after morning and only a few dounts are left. Third - dounts are not cooked every day sometimes not for a few days (2-3). Fourth - sitting area in this donut shop has several booths to sit but most of the time each booth is filled with 1 or 2 latinos sitting and chatting. My wife asked once if they would allow her the use one of the tables for her and the kids and they said something in spanish to her and just laughed at her - never did move. Needless to say she or I longer go there. Fifth - most of the time the tables are dirty as well as the floor. Including the coolers for soda, milk, water, etc. are mostly stocked infrequently. I think if Ventura had the rating system like Los Angeles they would get an "D". I do not know why this place went down hill it used to be the place to go for donuts and coffee in Simi Valley and Thousand Oaks. The people that went there would readily share their table ,greet you and be polite. I know the previous managers: May (I think was her name) and her husband when they ran the shop it was never like this. To Bad... The Good: Well that was way way back when. This place used to have pretty good tasting donuts. But now their donuts tastes bad. Some tastes like there were leftovers from the day before, some tastes like they are fried in dirty and old oil. The customer service isn't exactly courteous either. Probably better to just go to the other 2 donut shops few blocks away. read more
