Friday, June 5, 2026 (8:00pm) - It's National Donut Day! I meant to visit a donut establishment earlier in the day, then the day got away from me. I remembered Donut King is open late (until 9:00pm today), and I am glad I took a longer drive. I didn't know they were giving away a free donut today. I truly felt blessed (lol). I went in for a glazed twist donut that's combined with regular Donut dough and chocolate dough. Walking out with a free vanilla iced donut was a great way to celebrate National Donut Day. While it was obvious they were VISITED today, and the plaza isn't the cutest, the Donut quality is great, and the customer service I received today was PHENOMENAL. Been coming to Donut King off and on for the past 11 years I've lived in Orlando. Fancy donut places come and go, but Donut King is forever. Consistent in quality like a blue chip stock that you hold onto for 35 years. Ambiance is great. Storefront is in a dingy strip mall, but inside is a wall of donuts that looks like the Great Wall of China in donut form. A formidable display of deliciousness that will make your day better from the very start. Service is equally as formidable. There are always a ton of people in line, but they serve their way through them very quickly and efficiently. Very nice folks, and they always seem to have everything in stock. The donuts themselves are the best part. Soft, airy, topped with the perfect amount of toppings, filled with the perfect amount of fillings, and there are a few truly unique offerings that are very intriguing. You just can't go wrong. I love this place. They donuts are always so good whenever somebody asks about donuts I definitely recommend here because they always have such a variety. Is something for everybody if you haven't ever had them definitely check them out... the service wasn't too bad at first. They have updated their menu and it looks GREAT! I love the sprinkles decor everywhere as that really does scream donut to me. The king donut is a favorite for us as they supply Universal Studios with all the giant Simpson donuts that they charge over $20 for at City Walk or in the park and in the store that donut is $5.99. And you can get it topped with whatever you want if you come early enough. I love the creativity of the donuts here at Donut King. My favorite is a Reeces pieces donut or an apple fitter. The service is always quick and friendly here but there is like NO seating inside. Maybe two tables. This is a better situation if you just grab and go. Wonderful donuts every single time. 10/10 donut king is the absolute best. I bought a house just down the road a few years ago and their donuts fueled my renovation. Every weekend when we came up to do work we had to stop in and get a dozen and it definitely was the right way to start the weekends! They have so many options for all types of donuts, they are all good, but for me you can't go wrong with a classic Boston crème! I will say the maple bacon was a little odd for my taste. The employees are always so helpful in picking the assortment we want, while there is almost always a line (because they are so delish!) they work through it quickly and you're never waiting to long! Let me start off by saying that this place used to be absolutely amazing! The donuts were so good, the filling was high quality, and they were very generous. Over the years, they've changed, gone from dried out donuts to only squeezing a tiny smear of filling into the donuts, and then, going back to filling the donuts and making them fresh again. We haven't been to Donut King in a little over a year because the quality went way down. Today, we decided to give them another try, hoping that they were back to the old donuts again. They weren't. Now, let me say that the donuts look absolutely beautiful, picture perfect, but the taste... Isn't there. They were completely tasteless. The texture was softer, fuller, and tasteless. The jelly filling is now a red gel, tasteless. The lemon filling, not even a hint of lemon, but there was an odd aftertaste. The chocolate ganache that they used to dip donuts in, now a hard tasteless coating instead of the rich creamy chocolatey goodness that they used to use. We bought a dozen donuts and two pastries. We threw the majority of the box away and half the pastries. The other issue why it was hit or miss for a while there, the workers can't seem to stop touching their hair, noses, mouths, ears, eyes, etc. while they handle the food. The young woman that grabbed our food today had one glove on and decided that she had to cough into her other hand, constantly played with her hair, eyes, and mouth. It was off-putting. Came back again after some time and still super happy with this place! I do wish they had a location closer to me but honestly just glad I can find a place with the classic donuts I grew up with! Let's be honest from now on when I am in the winter park area as I mentioned before I always stop at donut King. Sadly today they were out of Boston cream so I was able to get a Bavarian cream- I also got a double chocolate doughnut, a twisty doughnut, A sandwich cream pie large triangle donut with a cherry on top - I honestly have no idea what it is it just looked really good. I also got A brown sugar and cinnamon fried square shaped donut, and I got a chocolate with chocolate Oreo on top doughnut. I honestly can't wait to try a couple of these and I did get one for a friend. My fiancé is going to love the rest of the donuts. The lady at the counter was super nice. They almost always have all of their donuts. The ambience of donut king is a small I'm gonna say locally owned donut shop I know they have one in Winter Park one in Claremont and one I believe in the Tampa area. This area of FL is a homemade donut waste Land. If you think Dunkin (they are everywhere) has good donuts then don't go here as you obviously do not appreciate homemade donuts. I travel a lot to areas that have plenty of mom and pop donut shops (think Austin or San Antonio, Los Angeles, Rhode Island, CT) and this place is in the top 5. It's in a weird location in terms of not near anything that would catch your eye but it is worth searching it out. The donuts are fresh (3 times the size of dunkin) and at $13 a dozen it's a bargain. This was my second time trying these donuts. The first time, I'll be honest, I wasn't super impressed because the donuts I tried were super sweet. I decided to try them again and I can honestly say YUM! I had just had a very negative experience at a different donut shop so I really just wanted a decent donut so I didn't have to leave my visit on a bad donut vibe. First off, these are affordable, I think I heard $13-15 for a dozen of the regular donuts. I could not take my eyes off of all the large specialty donuts in the front case. I have a real love-hate relationship with this place. When it's good, it's so good -- the donuts are fresh, fluffy, and easily a 10/10. But when it's bad, it's really disappointing. I've purchased donuts here several times and really appreciate the variety, the taste, the friendly help and the affordability. Donut King is strategically situated in what I'd term a "donut desert." No "true" donut offerings exist in this area. Only Publix and Dunkin' are close by. Yes, some might argue about my observation, but Donut King is the only place dedicated to donuts first. Easily the best donut I've ever had. Chocolate frosted with mini m&ms is my all-time favorite, so I grabbed two from Donut King while in town for work. Walked in, no one was there, a woman walked out from the back and inquired what we wanted. . . we picked our donuts, paid, she turned around and walked back through the kitchen door and that was it. My daughter wanted to try this place.. a lot of her friends from school always talk about it. So today after her basketball game we decided to go and get some. I was expecting it to be busy but to my surprise we were the only ones. A young man came from the back and greeted us. His name is Leo. Very nice! Very helpful!
