We arrived on a Sunday afternoon and were greeted and served quickly despite the long line. The hot bacon maple donut was perfect, the fruity pebble one transported me to my childhood...but the cronut...did I mention it yet? Holy smokes - pillowy laminated layers that give a half-baklava, half-fluffy yeast donut vibe that explodes with deliciousness. Very decedent! They have multiple cake donut options, but mainly they have many choices for the soft fluffy melt in your mouth type of donut. They had multiple filled donut options. My favorite that was available at the time of my visit was the apple filled donut. It had chunks of fresh apple in there and tasted like an apple fritter. Speaking of fritter, they had a pineapple fritter, but I didn't care too much for it. It tasted like a regular donut with extra sugar. They said they were actively working on reformulating to make it more pineapple forward, so I'm excited to try it again once it changes. We tried the blueberry cheesecake donut and my kiddo loved it. If you are a fan of cheesecake, you will like it. Their classic donut is delicious, and every donut is massive. It took my family of 3 multiple days to finish 4 donuts. They also serve ice cream there. The flavors sounded fun and interesting. My husband tried the banana cream pie and blueberry cheesecake and said they tasted like the real deal. The parking lot shares with a very popular local restaurant, so parking is tough. Luckily they do have a few spots reserved just for them. The space has seating outside and inside if you choose to stay. It's spacious, modern, and clean. The staff were so kind and very knowledgeable. They seemed passionate about their flavors and were very friendly. I love when these spots feel like a family already on your first visit. Yummmmmmm, I know I need to say more than just yummmmmmm but that's the best word to describe my experience. They have locally baked sourdough bagels that are phenomenal. You can even buy a 5 pack of these bagels and they are amazing! The customer service from entry to the line cook to departure was all welcoming. It was bright and clean and a great spot to grab a coffee and read a bit. I had the BEC on a bagel and it was SO good!!! Not sure how I feel about this place. It's a real rollercoaster. On the plus side: the donuts are decent and not priced like they're handcrafted by God. Parking? Fantastic. Both times I went, I got parking. Now... here's where things get interesting. I've been twice. Both times were weekends. Both times were before 11am. Both times they were out of stuff. Not just one thing. Stuff. The second visit, I didn't even bother asking questions. I stood in line and overheard the greatest hits: "Bacon?" Sorry, we're out. "Bagel?" Sorry, we're out. "Breakfast wrap?" Sorry, we're out. Then there's the service situation. It was Sunday morning prime donut time and there was ONE girl running the entire front. Taking orders. Serving donuts. Making coffee. Meanwhile, every so often, a girl from the back would pop out briefly and disappear again. Maybe she was back there performing highly classified operations. Maybe she was saving the world. Honestly, if she was preventing global disaster, I guess I can't be mad. The donut? It was fine. Not life-changing, not bad. Just... a donut. Great place for a sweet treat. Kind people. I have tried a couple of their offerings, but really the cronut stands out for me. Since I have to be weary about Gluten that is the one that I will take a gluten pill for. There's ice cream also - its quite yummy, I don't have a specific flavor to recommend, they're all good. Parking... that can be a challenge since the parking lot is shared with F&D (delicious food btw) and it's not big enough for them much less both. Shaka Donuts re-opened to a new location on Curry Ford in the Hourglass District on July 1st! I stopped by to check out the new space since I missed having their donuts. Since it's a new space, it's very clean, open, and inviting. I ordered the Strawberry Wafer Donut and the Samoa Donut! The good: Both donuts were tasty! The Strawberry Wafer Donut had a delicious strawberry flavor, and I enjoyed the wafers on top. The Samoa Donut tasted exactly like the Girl Scouts Samoas Cookies. If you love coconut, then you'll enjoy this one a lot. The bad: Nothing at all! Overall, I'm glad that Shaka Donuts re-opened, and can't wait to return to try the other flavors such as the Banana, Creamsicle, and Boston Creme Donuts! read more

First time at the new location and we have always been a fan of Shaka! We stopped by after dinner at F&D, love the convenience of having dinner and then walking over for some dessert! We were all stuffed but our toddler wanted ice cream, so we got him ice cream! The interior was so pretty and inviting, counter was clean and service was great. 2 recommendations: 1. covers for the ice cream cup if taking to go- my toddler only had a couple of bites and we were all so full from dinner so wanted to bring it home to go. Luckily we live a short drive away but would've been nice to have a lid. 2. Trash can- there was only a small trash can on the counter, which seemed more for spoons after trying flavors of ice cream. My toddler dropped a little ice cream and we cleaned it up with napkins and had trouble finding the trash can (the little one was full). We would definitely come back again, a little hungrier next time to fully enjoy all the treats! read more

Nice area, not to busy and a couple of other very good hang outs on the same block. Donuts are all lights out. Huge donuts, fluffy. Tons of filing in the filled donuts. Blueberry cake donut is a must try. They even have a few beers on tap. I could hang out here all day drinking beer and eating donuts and I would start with a breakfast sandwich made from donuts. I'm not sure if there's a new baker or what but donuts have been slightly raw in the middle, making them very chewy and just not a great doughnut overall. I am glad to see that this new location for Shaka Donuts is open. I had been to the old location only once, but I was really impressed with the donuts. I do not eat donuts that often. Usually, it is on the weekend for something to go with a Sunday brunch. My visit was on a Saturday afternoon. It was not crowded, but business was steady. The dining area and the service counter is clean, the employees are friendly and provide great service, and the parking lot has easy access from Curry Ford Road. I could swear I heard a "Pick me! Pick me!" while I looked at the variety of donuts available. I decided on the Krispies donut and the Cronut. I tried the Cronut at Shaka's former location, and it was just as delicious the second time around. The Krispies donut is delicious as well. An iced donut with a piece of a krispy rice bar sitting atop the center. I asked the employee working the counter as to whether they had the French Toast donut. One I had tried at their old location. She told me that they did not, but that some of their donuts are seasonal. If they should bring that back, give that one a try. I will most likely stop in again in the near future. The donut selection at 7pm wasn't that much to choose from (which I get). I tried the strawberry wafer and it was alright. I might've set my expectations a little too high. This place also offers a variety of ice cream which is a plus! My kids devoured the ice cream, the cookie dough and Cookie Monster. There's a bench and 4 tables so people can sit but it's just a small little hangout shop. I'll definitely go back and try their other donuts but I'll go earlier next time for sure! read more

I'm very excited that this place has finally opened! I've passed by it so many times, hoping that it would eventually open. The outdoor and indoor decor is so nice, and it has so much character. At first, I was a little skeptical because not many places know how to make it, and I've been to the place where it was invented. I have to say that I was very impressed by how good it was! It had both the flakiness of a croissant and the chewiness and sweetness of a donut. I'll definitely eat it again. I gave it four stars because I read somewhere that there was root beer on tap. My family had planned to stop by Shaka Donuts after picking up takeout from the Italian restaurant which shares their parking lot. When we parked in a spot near the donut shop, a woman that appeared to have been sitting for an extended period of time in a Volvo SUV close by exited her vehicle and told us the space was exclusively for Shaka Donuts customers. I explained that we were picking up food next door and then planned to come into the donut shop right after. She harshly responded, "Yeah, everyone says that," which felt as though she was implying I wasn't being truthful, then suggested I should have parked in the lot across the (very busy) street. I didn't think much more of it until I got curious why someone who didn't appear to be working for either establishment was policing parking. I called the shop, explained what had happened and asked if she was aware this was happening. The staff member let me know that the woman was actually the owner. I told her we had planned on coming in but, unfortunately, the interaction left us feeling extremely unwelcome, so we would be skipping it. While waiting for my food next door, I went ahead and moved my car since we no longer planned to visit. The owner was still parked directly in front of her own door, scrolling on her phone in what I would consider to be a "prime customer spot". It struck me as a bit hypocritical to warn others about using the space while occupying one herself for so long, essentially preventing potential customers from parking there. During my time there, I noticed the shop remained completely empty. I want to note that the employee I spoke with over the phone was kind, apologetic, and even offered free donuts the next day, which I appreciated. I politely declined as that was not the intent of my call and suggested she let the owner know that the interaction might come across negatively to customers. I didn't want to approach the owner again that evening, as she didn't seem open to feedback. I'm sharing this as constructive feedback. A more welcoming approach from the owner could genuinely help encourage potential customers to come in, especially since the current and previous location have regularly appeared empty when I pass by. stopped in with my friends while on vacation, and glad to say we will make it a staple when we are in the area. We are from New England, so we know a thing or two about bagels, and can confidently say their bagel breakfast sandwich is one of the best we've ever had. We also got coffees, as well as red velvet and the cookies and cream donuts, and those were amazing. The Oreo cream filling is sweet, and almost every bite had cream in it which many places do not do nowadays. The red velvet cake donut was super moist, truly a cake donut, and had actual cream cheese frosting, not the fake tasting kind. I had never been before and was so excited to try it. When i arrived around 6pm and they don't close until 10pm I actually expected fresh donuts. Well there were a handful of choices but I thought I would still give it a try. The girl working there apologized for there not being much to choose from. I chose two kinds and took them home for my dessert after dinner. Unfortunately they were both very stale and tasted greasy. I guess they make fresh in the morning and they had sat there all day.
