My friends surprised me for my birthday with a stop at Blue Amphora! We looked over the yummy baklava cases and then decided to stay and have lunch. Our paninis were so HOT off the press with delicious flavors and the best pomegranate & raspberry hot tea, all perfect for a cool day in Orlando. The service was beyond 10 , the friendliest people I have met in a business ever. They even surprised us with a delightful dessert for my birthday to share. We all got baklava to go, so glad, because it is just the right texture of crisp and sweet, both the walnut and pistachio varieties. I also got a piece of Pistachio ricotta cake. To make our visit feel even more appreciated by the business, we were given goodbyes in the parking lot by hugs from the owner. This is what makes a good business great. She tried the Turkish coffee with sugar, which was perfectly balanced--strong flavor without being overwhelming. I opted for the Turkish coffee with ice cream; it was delicious, though I think I actually prefer the traditional coffee on its own! ​The food was the real showstopper. The Kunefe was fresh, warm, and thankfully not overly sweet. But the Baklava... I'm not normally a baklava person, but this place converted me. We tried the Pistachio with Nutella, plain Nutella, Pistachio, and Walnut versions. The Pistachio and Walnut were easily my favorites. ​The owners are incredibly friendly and make you feel right at home. This bright shop was a spontaneous stop. I needed breakfast, something light. I ordered a Ginger Snap juice with pineapple, green apple and Ginger. I tried four different flavors of baklava, including the Dubai Chocolate Baklava. Even though it was close to closing time and not very busy, the service was exceptionally friendly and helpful. I was given a taste of the pistachio cream, that is in the Dubai chocolate, on its own and I was instantly impressed. The Dubai Chocolate Baklava is a must-try. This was definitely one of the best desserts I have ever tried. The other baklava flavors were also excellent. You won't be disappointed with any of your choices of baklava here. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to try any of the other food items, but I can confidently say that the desserts are an experience in themselves. The Baklavas were average. Not bad but nothing to write home about either. The owner/chef is too full of herself and talks with an air of arrogance. Confidence and pride in one's creation is certainly appreciated but not to the point of arrogance where one puts down other businesses to claim they're the best in the entire state. We have had better baklava at other places in Florida. We cannot, in good conscience, return to or recommend a business wherein the owner trash talks about other similar small businesses with negative racial/cultural undertones. A hidden gem indeed - with all the construction happening around goldenrod, you'll definitely have to search for this place. They've only been open for 3 months but wow does it feel like I walked straight into a family members house with my favorite food made waiting just for me. I had the pleasure of meeting the exec chef - Selin, and she shared her passion for food and sharing it with the rest community of Orlando. The staff were incredibly sweet and the hospitality was unmatched. I felt right at home with their warm welcome. Upon first glance - I couldn't decide what I wanted because everything looked SO good. Their food is made fresh each day including their juices and the gentleman behind the counter gave great recommendations and explanations. I of course need to go back and try everything! Ok now the part you're dying to know - how was it? I mean I could give this place 5 stars for the service alone but the baklava here had me drooling as I crunched into my first bite. We were heading from Orlando to have dinner at a friend's house in Lake Mary and this place was along our route. Amazing desserts and delights! Stopped in on a Saturday afternoon to grab some desserts for my family and we were all so happy that I did. The Baklava was so delicious. We also took home some cakes. We took the marble, lemon, and cinnamon. My favorite was the cinnamon. We brought home some kunafa for the family and it did not disappoint. We also tried some savory pastries which I cannot remember the name, one was stuffed with feta, the other with spinach and feta. Both were great. The store is nice with a couple of tables to sit and enjoy dine in. They offer some coffee options to enjoy. They service was amazing. Don't let the plaza fool you. The place is quiet and peaceful with an almost sunny environment. Great place to stop and relax. As we were talking, the owner mentioned they ship to the entire US! We tried the savory potato and savory spinach borek. Both were incredibly tasty with a flakey outside. I liked the little cheese borek squares as well! When heated up they practically melt. The pistachio baklava was fragrant and well-balanced in flavor, not overly sweet like the packaged ones would be. My grandmother couldn't stop eating them! The caramel and pistachio macarons were soft and packed with flavor for their little size. (I'll be getting them again.) I kept getting Instagram ads featuring amazing looking baklava and this cheesy, pistachio concoction that looked delicious. I decided to follow the lead to Blue Amphora because it was the source of the ads. The very nice owners have been making Turkish baklava and pastries for sale by order for several years but just opened a storefront. The menu varies a bit day to day but has several savory pastries, several sweet treats, some paninis and baklava. They also have fresh squeezed juice, espresso, and Turkish coffee and tea. I had to try the kunefe, the cheese, pistachio, pastry confection topped with syrup that I saw on IG. It was a great combo of sweet and salty, melty and crunchy. I also had a Turkish tea and some pistachio baklava. Everything was very good and the atmosphere was calm and clean.
