Another reviewer accurately described it as a "cronut", or a mash-up of a croissant and a doughnut. The texture is different but the sweet factor is intact! We chose a Saturday morning to visit because our son was available and wanted to check out Parlor, since he is a doughnut aficionado. We found plenty of available parking spots. The bright interior with east-facing windows and white and blue tile made for a cheery atmosphere. Of course the doughnuts and good service add to the brightness. A French Toast doughnut, Spinach Pesto Breakfast Sandwich (a lovely savory and served in a ciabatta roll), and Proper Coffee (drip) were ordered on this visit and throughly enjoyed while sitting on comfy chairs. In my many years on this earth I have eaten many things, and its rare for a food as common as a donut to make me stop and have to slow down and experience it like this layered doughnut made pause. We saw these savory doughnuts on Instagram and had to try them. Let me tell you , you need to try them. The chicken bacon ranch is so delicious, creamy crunchy, noticeable chicken and bacon on every bite. The little parmesan bites and dipping sauce are a great side. The peperoni are good as well but peperoni is just very standard and hard to mess up, if that's your thing you will enjoy it. We were going to order to go but the place was so inviting and clean we decided to stay. The only thing that did bother me was the wobbly tables, I'm particularly bothered by wobbly tables. Wow these are a winner! Omg! The donuts are amazing! The veriaty of flavors from sweet to savory! What a great idea to have a choice of sweet or savory. The ladies behind the counter working were very sweet. And the orders came out fairly quick. We started off with savory combos each. So a good location and cute-ish odd aesthetic, but recently tried their raspberry jelly donut and was shocked at how unappetizing it was. I don't have food aversions at all, but the shell of the donut was super greasy and like bad fair food. The powdered sugar on the outside was melting and disappearing into the heavy grease coating the dough. The raspberry jelly inside seemed less like jelly/jam, and it was red goo. Update: So I went back again and tried the Keto and Vegan friendly donuts. As mentioned before I'm not a big fan of doughnuts, I think for me it's the texture and sweetness, so when I got the Keto and Vegan friendly donuts, I was surprised that it tasted like cake! I ended up getting the seasonal Autumn ones and out of all of them I liked the vegan one more only because it had bits of apple on top. While I did like the taste, I felt the price was a bit much for something that is smaller than their regular donuts and something that they probably get in packages. I will say my husband did not like these at all, he said he tasted something off in the icing (he is a doughnut lover though). I think that if you're not used to Keto/Vegan sweets and you like the texture of regular doughnuts, you might not like these. It was so fluffy and melted in my mouth. It had just the right amount of sweetness too. I went with the French Toast, which is their version of an original glazed. As someone who have been living in LA, I think this place has one of the best unique donuts I've ever had in my life. Their donuts are amazing! The dough is very flaky, but not in a cronut way.
