Donation Movers, sounds like a spirit of service type of name. I was referred to these guys by a friend of mine so I figured great minds think alike.. He liked em, so I would prob be happy with them as well. Paul and his crew did me a favor. For not much more than it would have cost me to rent a truck and buy beer and food for friends (who really have better things to do than move somebody) I got all my stuff moved to my new place. I've read the reviews below and think that something must have changed since they were left last year. I was given Donation Movers' phone number and called immediately when my friends backed out of helping me pack up. I needed them to simply come over and load the truck. I made a phone call with only two days notice and had no problem making an appointment. The prices were incredibly reasonable, and I quickly received a confirmation email. The morning of the move came and three men showed up on time and ready to work. They loaded a two-story, two-bedroom townhome into my Uhaul in less than 90 minutes, making sure to wrap my furniture appropriately and ensuring that nothing would fly around. Because I didn't know them, I was a little worried that maybe things would shift, but nothing did. I made a twenty-two hour drive and when I opened the truck, nothing was broken or had shifted. I know this company on a personal level and have used them before as have my parents. My first move was FLAWLESS! I was happier than ever and everything went so smoothly, the owner of the company stopped by helped out and made sure everything was going good. HOWEVER!!!! I just moved again this year and decided to call up the company for this move Shannon in the office was AMAZING! I love her to death. She set up my move for the 1st move of the day and told me what to expect. The day of the move the movers were there right on time like they said they would be and went straight to work which was great...They took 4 hours to move us, the distance wasn't long although I did have a lot to move and donated quite a bit of expensive stuff. So my husband paid for the move once everything was in the new place and signed a paper saying nothing was broken and everything was good...thats where the problems started. The movers broke my bedroom tv and placed it in a corner facing the wall so when my husband walked through the place everything looked good on the surface. I got home from work and went straight to unpacking, moved my tv and saw it was hit several times and is completely broken, I thought okay and called the company left a voicemail. I then went to help set up my bed to find only 2 out of my 6 screws there, same with my couch 2 screws were missing along with them ripping my couch apart and breaking the bonding clamps. I went to unpack books and put them away to find they broke my shelving in my china cabinet and its UN-repairable. I called again several times the next day to hear nothing back. I called again Sunday and more on Monday. The owner finally called me back at 7PM on Monday to screams at me and call me a bitch. He told me unless I had a receipt for my tv he was not going to replace it. I have never experienced this before from Paul and I will NEVER recommend that anyone use this company. Please do not use this outfit for packing. They may be ok for moving stuff but I'm still unpacking boxes, trying to find things. Nothing organized!! Missing tv and electronic cords. Called Owner and he's a total incompetent person avoiding me. Says he was trying to resolve but just quit calling back. Meanwhile found my diabetes test strips stolen. Oh they left 1 box. I personally put those things in a bag in bedroom which they then packed. Those cost $52 vial. I just ordered in bulk as cheaper. They are all gone but one box. I'm sure a mover knew how expensive it is for these! Thank god 1 box left 7x52 and you do math Missing one entire kitchen box. M( missing bowls and misc kitchen dishes. ( good ceramic bowls). Just a mess! Opened on box and wigged out. One closet of leather jackets and other expensive clothing was crammed in a box with heavy misc items thrown on top!!!!! Are you kidding me!? I am filing complaint with Better Business Bureau. These people do not stand behind their work! I read other nightmares here I could have sent a lot of Business their way due to my career choice allows me to be in constant contact with people moving to new homes STAY AWAY. Horrible moving company to say the least! Movers were all aged 19 to 24 and appeared to be hired directly out of a reform school. They repeatedly made crude and inappropriate comments and were more interested in ogling my 17 year old daughter than moving my possessions. I was promised wardrobe boxes by the owner when I booked my move...they never arrived and I was told I never asked for them. The owner was contacted and he insisted I never asked for them. He was a bold faced liar. My family's clothing that was in the closets were heaped into piles by the movers and left on the floor of my daughter's bedroom in the new house. I had my new house completely repainted on the interior prior to moving in and I made it plain to the movers to be careful with the walls when moving furniture After watching one of them bash a corner of dresser into the stairway wall and causing a gouge in the drywall I complained and again made it clear that the house was just freshly painted...this punk kid who had caused the wall damage mumbles under breath, "Jesus, I'll cost $5 bucks to fix that, what's the big deal?"...It was just one issue after another with this company. I went to pay them with a check at the completion of this nightmare and was told they didn't accept checks. I was never informed of this when booking the move but the head kid mover insisted I was told by the owner...that's a lie. The owner was contacted and he insisted I was told that they didn't accept checks...again a bold faced lie! I was forced to drive to an ATM to withdraw the money to pay these clowns. When I returned I went to pay them and I asked for a receipt since I was paying cash. I was informed by a kid, that I came to find out was the owners son that they don't give receipts and that his father would email me one at a later date. That wasn't acceptable to me since I was paying cash. I finally had to tell this moron that I wasn't going to pay him unless he gave me a receipt...he finally scribbled a note on the back of one of their business cards that I had paid them in full. They stole a brand new push broom that I had just recently purchased but I didn't find that out until 2 days after the move when I went to go use it and discovered that it was gone. They also dumped the remains of a damaged & broken water softener tank (it didn't belong to me) that I had seen in the back of their trailer when they arrived at my house, in my garage when they left. I guess they thought that was funny since I complained about their careless and unprofessional conduct at my house. This was the most UNPROFESSIONAL, UNRELIABLE and sleazy group of so called movers that I had ever had the misfortune to hire. Never again would I go within 20 miles of this group of thieves and punks. read more

They did substantial damage to my hard wood floor. Initially, they seemed responsive and professional about getting it fixed, but when it became clear that the repair would be costly, Paul, the head guy, became exactly the opposite. They moved us from Phoenix to New River and I thought they did a great job, until I unwrapped my brand new $3K refrigerator and noticed there were 2 dings and a large crease on the front of it. I have tried to call Donation Movers several times and sent a few e-mails and no response on how they plan on fixing my refrigerator. They were happy to take my $900 dollars, but will not even give me the courtesy of a return phone call to discuss this issue. Shady company if you ask me. I had never hired a moving company before and looked online to find one. After speaking to Paul and Shannon at Donation Movers my husband and I hired them. We had previously sold our house and had moved all of things into storage (slowly over a period of 2 weeks). When the day came to move our things into our new house in a different city they showed up at the storage facility. They immediately started working and had our things carefully wrapped and onto their truck in 1 1/2 hours. They then proceeded to drive 3 1/2 hours to our new house and unload our things. Fantastic. We had a move from 2 storage units on the second floor to a two story home. These movers were on time, *fast*, friendly, and professional. The price was exactly as quoted, and was hundreds less than the first time we used alternate movers to get our things into storage. As far as breaks and damages; pretty much none. We had one very cheaply made Walmart lamp that didnt make it. Anything else that was damaged was a result of the poor packing job from the previous company, and Donation Movers kept me informed of everything. Move date: Saturday, 6/30/12. The reason I didn't give 5 stars is they were 1.25 hours late and we were the first appointment. Scheduled time was 7:00am and they showed up at 8:15am and I had to call to find out where they were (no call to me saying they were running late). First thing I would like to state is Paul Schmitt (the owner) was pleasant and professional throughout the process. He answered all of my questions personally and followed through with everything he told me. There were no surprises on move day, with the exception of the moving truck. I was surprised to see them in a Budget truck and not one with their name on it. Other than that, the 3 crew members jumped right in and worked diligently the entire 3.75 hours it took to complete our move. No hidden fees, no empty promises. The movers even declined our offer to take a break as it was 112 degrees that day. We organized the boxes and rooms in such a way to speed up the process, which the movers complimented us on multiple times. They were friendly to us, friendly to our Pugs and never complained one time about the heat or the fact that they had two big moves after us. We tipped them very well for their efforts and would definitely use Donation Movers, LLC in the future. Out of the 3 times I have hired movers, this is the only company I've had a positive experience with and feel very comfortable referring people to this company. read more

This is the worst company to deal with. I found them on crags List, they go by AZ City Movers,today. They keep changing their ads and phone #'s. I called to schedule a move and asked for prising up front, along with hidden costs. Was told $36.99 an hour, $36.99 trip charge, and 22% fuel., and $35.00 for extra stop.NO OTHER CHARGES!!!! When they arrived, they gave me a contract that had, $39.99 packing tape(which in their add was free), and over 100lb charge. After spending an hour with the office, Stepahnie who claimed to be a supervisor, rude as can be, kept with putting me on hold, or disconnecting me, I agreed to pay them cash is what they wanted. They broke a tile, never hung my dresser mirrors, and forgot a box. I called again, none of them speak good english, I told them the problems, they said they would call me back, never heard from them again. Im going to report them to the attorney general office, they are a shady company. read more

This was a difficult time for us since we were cleaning out my mom's apartment following her recent death. The movers themselves were great. I called and filed a complaint, have called back over 5 times and every time, I get asked the same info...name, complaint, date of service etc. boy do they give the run around for the little stuff...imagine if they had caused more serious damage.
