I love Peruvian chicken!!! Kind of obsessed. I have tried Sardis, El Pollo RICO, Crispy & Juicy, etc you get the point so I know it. Nothing is better than El Pollo RICO NOTHING!!!! However Don Pollo is a second since it's the closest to me. I do love how they have tons of sides to chose from unlike RICO it's fries, rice or slaw nah to all three give me salad options!! I ordered the 1/4 chicken with two sides.... I thought it was supposed to be rotisserie chicken... this is clearly FRIED chicken. The fried rice was BLAND. the beans were BLAND (they obviously wanted to get rid of the beans but not the rice.), the rice was bland lol they literally gave me a couple more baby spoonfuls than what you see in the picture (pitiful).... the sauce was not good either. I spoke to the manager and she offered me 10% off my next meal.... if I don't like it, why would I come back? She said if I came back she would give me a refund after asking for my order number... I offered to send her a picture... I could have even facetimed, but I went there on my lunch break and could not just up and return... it's okay. I had some really delicious & juicy peruvian chicken here. Me and my friend weren't that hungry so we shared a 1/2 chicken with plantains and rice/beans. It's on par with Crisp & Juicy, but not as greasy as Sardis. I like the plantains better at Crisp & Juicy though, it's a tiny bit dryer at Don Pollo. They also have entree options other than chicken. One thing that sets this Don Pollo apart from other peruvian chicken places is that they bring you your food and the seating is super spacious. read more

I've been here twice in the past few months and both times have been excellent. This afternoon, I had the 1/4 white with roasted vegetables and coleslaw. Total cost was around $11 with a soda. A bit pricey for daily lunches, in my opinion, but well worth the cost. My meal was on the table within 10 minutes, maybe less. Chicken was juicy and tender with *slightly* crispy skin. While I am hopelessly white, I do like spice and this chicken had the perfect amount on it. I'm not a fan of the green sauce, but it's not because of how Don Pollo makes it, as I've had it at other chicken joints and it's just not my bag, baby. The roasted vegetables were also delicious, in spite of the yellow squash, which if we're being honest here, should never, ever be considered an edible substance. The coleslaw was fine. Not great, but fine. This place is great. We order and split the same thing every time, whole chicken with beans and rice and fries. The fries are not great, but you can't really go too wrong with fries ever. Chicken is pretty great. I tend to slightly prefer a place called Crisp and Juicy for the chicken, but the beans and rice is far supreme at Don Pollo. I have ordered this place on Doordash, but never visited the actual restaurant before now. The restaurant is a lot nicer then I accepted it to be. It's the nicest chicken place I've ever been to. They have a large assortment of beverages with a drink for everyone. (See image) And the service was awesome! They are very nice and helpful. And the food took about 3 minutes to come to our table. For a company lunch we all decided to order take out from Don Pollo. I decided on the 1/4 chicken with salad and steamed veggies. The price of the food is great! They're very reasonable for lunches and fit everyone's budget well. The food was great as well! The side salad is a typical romaine blend and was fresh. The veggies I got were green beans and were steamed well although a little bland. I do prefer most of my veggies with a little more flavor. The chicken knocked it out of the park! Deliciously flavorful and just the perfect portion for a lunch. They had a ton of other side options to choose from so I will be back for the chicken but I may go a different route than the veg. Inconsistent food. My husband's quarter chicken white was pretty dry while mine was fine. They need to do better filling their orders. After ordering food for take out it takes a good 10min or more for your food. They give you a number and wait for it to be called. I prefer Sardies in Gaithersburg. I live in VA in an area that has a Peruvian chicken place every other block, so it never occurred to me to eat Peruvian chicken in Rockville where I work. Today for lunch I was brought here and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. I read here some folks complaining about portion size, but I'm not sure for quarter chicken how big you expect the quarter to be? To me the chicken portion is exactly what I expect quarter chicken to be. And the two sides I thought were generously portioned. I got both yuca and plantains and I couldn't even finish the plantains even though I love them! Yuca fries were not too hard at all, it's done perfect. Seating can be limited during peak lunch time but we had no trouble getting a booth. They keep the place really clean and food gets to you super fast after you order at the front. The inside is nicely decorated and has ample seating. Lots of booth seating - definitely family friendly. You walk in, grab your beverage, and then order at the counter. If you're eating-in they give you a number to take with you to your table. Your food will be brought out to your table as soon as its ready. The chicken has always been fresh and flavorful. I think there's definitely something there for almost everyone. There are alot of good Peruvian chicken restaurants in the area and two that I have recently reviewed that were outstanding, so why risk trying another when I already have two great places? I was in the area. I ordered the 1/2 chicken which was moist but not strongly flavored. Many of the other Peruvian places have the flavor all the way through the meat, which I think is good. So the chicken was average at best, but certainly not bad. We also had the chicken salad, fried green beans and yucca fries. The chicken salad was at best average; very little chicken, the dressing we good but you are given about 1/3 of the dressing you need. The yucca fries were ok, but again I have had much better, bigger fries. The fried green beans were the most spectacular part of the meal. This side was one of the best green bean sides that I have ever tried. I was surprised at the overall cost of this meal, certainly was not worth the cost. If you choose to try this place make sure you try the fried green bean side. As for me I will not be back. read more

The chicken is delicious, as are many of the sides. The "yellow" sauce is tasty, and the green adds a nice kick. My "go-to" is 1/4 white, with yucca and plantains, and I highly recommend them, along with the chaufa, fried green beans, and, OMG the mashed potatoes! Ok are the coleslaw, fries, corn pico, bean pico, kale chicken caesar salad, bread pudding. Have tried, put will pass on in the future: Mac & cheese (just not to my taste), and flan (I'm a big fan of traditional Spanish flan; this was NOT it.) portions are large. Two people can easily share the 1/4 chicken and two sides. If you order sides separately, portions get even bigger! Interesting beverage choices, including San Pellegrino sodas. Staff is friendly, and the whole place is impeccably clean. I happily eat here often. read more

There are a great number of Peruvian chicken spots in the area, so when I new one opens up I'm expecting to experience something to set it aside from the others. Well this spot didn't do it for me. The spot gets one spot for the ambiance, cleanliness, decor and nice staff. The salad was fresh and crisp but comes with some lime type tart dressing which I did not like and that's the only dressing they serve, which should be stated on the menu or told to you by the staff. The manager I presume brought me a plain salad but again no choice of dressing and who wants to eat dry salad. So I opted for the green beans... which I thought looked good but when it was time to eat.. they were inedible... some sort of greasy coating with sesame seeds which tasted like cardboard. The fried rice was sort of hard and not very flavorful but it wasn't awful. Oh and the icing on the cake is the nickel and diming over sauce... One slightly larger cup of the mild and one small container for the hot for a half of chicken... WHAT!!! That's unfair and crazy..... If u get one of each sauce for a 1/4 you should get at least 2 of each for a half... All in all, I will not be back.... I'll just take the extra 10 minute ride and go to Sardis instead where you are not nickeled and dimed for extra sauce and I know the food is great!!! read more

Delicious AF! Goodness was this charbroiled chicken sumptuous. Everything from the way it was seasoned, to the amount of juciness and softness the meat came off the bone. I stopped in to grab something for dinner. The smell is enough to grab your olfactory senses as you walk by. I only got a whole chicken, no sides, or anything else. I like the don pollo in the twinbrook shopping center better. This place is more of a modern setting while the other one has a more rustic feel to it. Food wise, the chicken was good. The skin was crispy and the sides were good. The only thing is portions are pretty small. The one in the twinbrook center hooks you up with more food and people seem more relaxed. Been here a few times now and I'm really liking it. I always get the 1/4 dark and it's been consistently delicious. The mild sauce is great and I use it for my chicken and yuca. Their yuca is one of my favorites among these types of places since they seem to cook it a little longer. I like mine more crispy. Had to deduct a star because I really don't like their coleslaw, which I usually like to get with chicken, but their macaroni and cheese is a delicious replacement. Service has always been good with the workers being friendly and the place has always been clean. I got the 1/4 dark with two sides: corn pico and mashed potatoes (per many others' recommendations). The chicken was excellent- moist, flavorful. Well cooked and not huge (as in, looked like the size that chicken should be if fed a natural diet). The pico was absolutely fantastic, with a wonderful fresh flavor and plenty of lime, which I love. The mashed potatoes were meh. The texture seemed off, but this is likely just a preparation with which I'm unfamiliar.
