We decided to try this cute clean restaurant as we passed through this small town. Service was excellent, but could use a bit more training on menu items. The Enchiladas were 3 star at best, but the Ceviche was amazing. So fresh, layered with flavor and plentiful. The taquitos were fat, good quality meat, and fried to perfection. After living in this town of limited places to eat, over the last few years I am in dismay with Don Ponchos. This place was the go to for Mexican food, great bartenders and a good crowd at the bar of friendly faces. Over the last 6 or 7 months it has gone to crap, prices are up and the service and quality are way down. The owner is pretty much absent thinking he is Tony Montana from Scarface living in Mexico. From what I understand from the employees he just sits watching the cameras all day long. Making your brother work his ass off for you and having a bunch of cooks that can't understand simple request from the servers is a big problem. If this place fails to get their shit together, he will have a great awaking and end back up in Franklin with his family. read more

Don Panchos in Franklin VA. Waiter assured me that the ceviche was traditionally prepared, so I ordered it rather than one of the cheaper lunch specials. Big mistake!! Instead of ceviche, I got hot boiled baby shrimp with pico de gallo. I tried to eat it with the creamy and tasteless guacamole, but gave up halfway thru. I was told by another employee that the health department won't allow them to serve traditional ceviche and that if I'd called in advance, they would have served it to me. How so if it's against health department regulations? Despite walking sound the restaurant , I couldn't find the waiter to ask for something else. Gave up. I finally found another employee and asked for a to go cup of the diet soda since my glass was empty for almost the entire meal. Never got it. so I paid my $22 bill and left. Poor service but the minimum tip available on the digital payment was 15%. Poor service and overpriced mediocre food! read more

By far the best place to eat in Franklin. I am from the area, but don't live there anymore. I stop every time I am in town. Sometimes if I am there for the weekend we eat there two or three times. I have eaten Mexican at a lot of places and Dons is a favorite of mine. The white sauce is the best I have ever had. If you haven't had white sauce before, you need to ask for it (no charge). 4 stars cuz it's "good". Not 5 cause let's not be crazy. Between this place and El Ranchero, foodwise El Ranchero in our opinion wins. But if you want ambiance and maybe an outdoor dining experience well then Don Pachos it is. On this occasion ambiance won out so we went to Don Pachos and since we eat TONS of Mexican we are no strangers to Mexican menus. We typically gravitate to the chef specials, in this instance we looked at the menu and that section didn't seem to offer much outside of the typical things like pollo loco and the usual suspects. None of it seemed that enticing. Luckily our waitress was lovely and patient. She helped us finally settle on some kind of mega burrito thing I can't recall the name of. It was good but as you can see I have forgotten already what it was called and probably won't remember what the hell I ate last time when I return and will wind up perusing again the chef's specials and not finding anything. Hubs had a Texas margarita and it too was good. Food came out ridiculously fast, which is always a plus. Service was good. Overall a nice experience but it blends in with a zillion other Mexican places we've gone to that are equally enjoyable and forgettable. As far as I'm concerned, I've yet to meet a Mexican restaurant I haven't enjoyed but like pizza, while ALL pizza is good some are GREAT. This is good and that's fine with us :) read more

This is and always has been my favorite place to eat in Franklin, Va. I have eaten just about everything on their menu over the years and have recently been enjoying the simple things like tacos, chile rellano, and last but not least their carnitas (had them recently in taco form). Tonight just simple steak tacos with some pics de gallo and some table side guacamole and it was fantastic. The staff is awesome and know us well when we go in. I recently went out to dinner at don panchos and had an awful experience! My food came out wrong on 2 of the 4 orders from the table I had finally had enough and asked to speak with the owner. Up until I got to the owner who's name is Frank I was treated kindly that all stopped once I got to him. He was a complete jerk basically telling me that I was wrong about what I ordered. I told him I must have been confused by the picture on the menu he then told me there was no picture, he grabbed a menu and I was proved right I will never go back here and I would warn you if you work hard for your money you shouldn't waste it with a guy like this read more
