Wow what a great Mexican spot. We've been meaning to try this place since it changed and it didn't disappoint. We've went late on a weeknight and there was plenty of sitting space. We were immediately greeted and offered seats. Chips and salsa followed within a few seconds of sitting and our waiter came for drink orders a few seconds after the snack delivery. Their chips are hot and super thin. Which I love. The salsa is more flavorful, it doesn't taste like just canned tomatoes with a few stands of onion and cilantro. The menu is extensive with lots of classic options and some unique options. We weren't hungry enough for any appetizers but next time we come maybe with a larger group we'll try some. We ordered the chicken fajitas, pollo fundido and Mexican flautas. Food was delivered hot in 10 mins and was visually pleasing. I couldn't wait to start eating . Everything was super tasty too. In the past I've experienced where the fillings in burritos/tacos/taquitos especially the meats are left unseasoned. This was not the case at Guads. The fillings were well seasoned and could be eaten on their own. Fajitas were sizzling and meat was evenly and consistently sized. Very yummy. We are rice lovers so that's an important aspect of the meal. Rice was perfect. Not parboiled and a nice light tomato flavor. Refried beans were puréed smooth which is ok but not my favorite. I visited this restaurant on Cinco de Mayo, and while I expected a long wait due to the holiday, I was willing to be patient. After waiting quite a while, we were finally seated but that's when the experience went downhill. We sat at our table for about 15-20 minutes without any acknowledgment from the staff. Multiple servers walked past us during that time, yet no one stopped to greet us, take a drink order, or even check in. What made the situation more frustrating was noticing that other customers who were seated after us were attended to almost immediately. They were given drinks and chips right away, while we continued to be ignored. The lack of service was disappointing on its own, but the clear difference in how we were treated compared to others made the experience feel uncomfortable and concerning. It's hard not to question whether bias played a role in how we were overlooked. Overall, the long wait would have been understandable given the busy holiday, but the lack of basic service and attentiveness once seated left a very negative impression. read more

I go to quads at least twice a month. I ordered the same meal every time, a poblano appetizer, a side of rice and it is usually the best meal you could imagine. Today's visit was awful went in at an odd hour around 3:30 PM. There was no one inside, we sat on a booth and were greeted by a waitress who seemed to be in another world. The restaurant was extremely hot as today is 82° and yesterday was very cold and I understand that sometimes we have our units preset, but with it being so hot you would think that they would've had an AC on. She seemed very bothered and would get the manager to turn the AC on. I ordered my usual and it came out not looking at all like it normally does. It's usually covered with a yummy delicious thick cream sauce so I asked her if she could send it to the kitchen and ask to make the sauce the normal way and the manager comes out and says that is the normal way. Had I never had it before I wouldn't know, but the color was wrong and it was thin like water. It was not a cream sauce like normal. He did not offer to take the plate back or remake the dish. He seemed annoyed at my comment the poblano and shrimp sitting on top of the sauce did taste very good so I ate that and put the sauce on the side. I now see why the last few visits we've seen a lot less tables and I think it's because this place used to be amazing and now it's going downhill not only with Service but with the food... And I understand that less revenue means you can't keep the building comfortable, but if you can't keep it comfortable, let's just not open our doors because no one wants to eat in a building with no AC on a hot day of 82° This was one of our most favorite restaurants to go to. We will give it one more shot and if it doesn't change, we will have to scratch it off the list not a single visit to La Padilla has ever been hot or bad service. I wanted to try a new place out in the area and ended up finding this place on Yelp. It's located in the Harbour View Suffolk area in a small shopping strip. I came for late dinner and there was plenty of lot parking and indoor seating. Seating and service was prompt. The restaurant had a casual and clean feel to it from the atmosphere to the interior and the menu itself. The menu showed a variety of food, but it wasn't overwhelming. The servers provided chips and salsa. If you want the white sauce, you can request it. I ended up ordering the Supreme Quesadilla w/steak and ended up enjoying it. Within the quesadilla were the steak, beans, cheese, onion, and peppers. In the side were raw tomatoes and lettuce as well as sour cream and guacamole. With the sour cream and guacamole served on top as a scoop, I was able to somewhat control how much I wanted for the fresh vegetable side and the quesadillas. Overall, everything was well cooked, delicious, and fresh. I usually feel very heavy after eating this type of food, but I felt pretty good after finishing this. Service was great as the servers were attentive; I was never left thirsty, looking around for anyone, or feeling rushed. They also made sure I was okay with the beans being cooked in the quesadilla itself instead of being served as a side. It wasn't the cheapest experience ever, but it was affordable and the pricing was what you would expect for this type of place. This was overall a great experience and I wouldn't mind coming back again. read more

What I like is that they don't have the typical Mexican menu. I even say Guads is better than our regular "goto" Mexican restaurant, Plaza Azteca. If you have an appetite and are a meat eater, order Guads Hawaiian. The interior was clean, bright, and spacious. Chips and salsa were complimentary. Our waiter brought water and menus which we perused quickly due to our hunger ;) The hubs started us out with buffalo shrimp. The sauce was unique.....I tasted the buffalo, but the sauce was different than any I've had. However, the shrimp was plentiful, large, and plump. I opted for chicken fajitas. It seems to be my go to almost all the time the past couple of months lol. It came with fresh made in house tortilla, rice, beans, and guacamole. The chicken had the great taste of charring from being cooked on the cast iron skillet. I asked for some hot sauce, and they went to the back, and surprised me with special in house very spicy hot sauce! I love that and it was delicious. I have a high spice tolerance. The hubs ordered the chimichanga. It was made into a dumpling, fried, and dressed with white sauce in addition to the rice and beans. The size of the chimichanga was quite small and the taste was ok. Started off good. Wondered why we only ones there on a Saturday...I ordered an original frozen margarita.. it came with no salt and tasted like pure sour margarita mix. And wasn't frozen. Menu said $7.00 but he charged me $9.00 and it said fruity margarita.. I ordered taco Loco and at other places it's a huge taco stuffed with beans, meat, cheese, onions, peppers, cheese, lettuce. I noticed the prices were higher then where we normally go..but I didn't expect to get a tiny little taco bowl with only meat and onions. Rice came on the side and was flavorful. We had to ask for white sauce. That was flavorful too. Our bill was $40.00 for 2 lunches and a small drink. They were working on the front door. Some old man held it open for the entire time. My husband and I stopped here for a spontaneous date night. It was taco Tuesday and they had chicken and beef tacos for $1.50 and $2. We tried out the tacos and they weren't bad for what they were. They also had some beer included for happy hour but that escapes me right now. We also tried the tamales which tasted good but were a little light on the filling. Our waiter was very courteous and made sure we were comfortable sitting on the patio. As the sun set, he made sure to turn on the heat lamps for us. This place is legit. I usually feel like Mexican restaurants in virginia are all the same. No matter which chain it is, it's all the same. The menu is the same. This place is a notch above the others, and I'm pleasantly surprised. First, the chips were served warm. That made them extra delicious. We ordered guacamole and received the chunkiest, tastiest, tomatoiest blend of guacamole ever. Main course was milanesa....aka breaded fried ribeye aka get in my belly. Hubby had the California burrito and devoured the whole thing. He always orders a california burrito but says this was by far the best one he's had. They have a little bar area as well, might be a nice spot to unwind after work too.....I mean, we all need a drink or fourteen after a rough day, amirite? I'm glad this place opened up here. I was pleasantly surprised by everything! From the friendly service to the menu selections it was a very great experience. I ordered the sopes and was so glad to see it on the menu. The thick tortilla was slightly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The carnitas has great flavor and were exactly what is to be expected of carnitas.
