I'm so sad, We have been coming to DOMO for over 15 years. All of our kids became LOVERS of sushi because of this restaurant. The yummiest freshest sushi we have ever eaten! What happened to our two favorite servers Srene and Fumi ? They LOVED the customers, loved my kids, laughed with us, cried with us, celebrated every big event with us because this is where we came to celebrate the accomplishments in our families lives over the years. We would brag and tell everyone that we have the BEST SUSHI SPOT IN THE WORLD. Until the change. We came in at the beginning of the year and had the WORST experience. The food tased like we were eating cleaning products. We couldn't put our finger on it. But we couldn't finish our food. We waited 6 months to come back because it was so bad, but decided to try it again. Thought it must be a one off thing.... Nope. Came in and realized the whole staff is new and our servers are no longer there. The whole experience was just whatever. We were sad. Came back again tonight and We will never be back. Ordered our food and it took 40 minutes for one roll to come out. And when the one roll finally came it looked like it was made at home. Then the second roll came 10 minutes later and the $20 roll that is normally yummy and thick has a huge piece of tempura shrimp had an over fried mini shrimp piece. The rest of the food came out randomly so none of us got to eat together . We almost walked out. No acknowledgment from staff on how long it took, no compensation or offer of a dessert or edamame? I'm actually sad about this. The service was pretty bad. Getting drinks took about 10 minutes, mind you we were a group of 4 with only a group of three near us in the restaurant. Ordering was weird. It took a lot of explaining of what we wanted for something that was on the menu. Our rolls sat in the counter while the server sat behind the register for long enough that I almost got my rolls myself. The chicken in my daughter's teriyaki bowl was questionable when I tried it. My family and I have been going to Domo for 15 years. We have loved being served by Dora, Fumi and Serene. Today was going to be the third time we go after the original Domo crew left. We came in and had to wait to be acknowledged because there was a group paying. After about 5 minutes, we were finally acknowledged. To our surprise, we were turned away at 8:24pm because their kitchen had already taken last call. I've never been turned away from an establishment but it was very embarrassing. Where do I start? Keep in mind the whole time we are in the restaurant there was one other occupied table... The green tea was so weak that it was really just cloudy greenish water. Good thing we were never asked if we wanted refills. The server must have been new, or just really didn't like her job. She wasn't good at her job. She gave the menu's to one person at the table instead of handing them out to each person herself. She stuck her thumb into my husband's cold soup. I asked for a fork and it took many minutes and a reminder to bring it to me, it looked dirty. She might have checked on us once, maybe. The food was edible, but that's it. The rice was a too firm in the middle to eat lump, it seemed microwaved. The California roll tasted like it had been made hours earlier. The pancit was obviously microwaved and was the worst I've ever had. I'm a white chick and I make it better! I should be glad they were out of lumpia, I imagine it would have been just meh. My daughter decided to go here after shopping bc we were starving and wanted Sushi. It was decently priced, didn't take long to be seated and our server was super friendly and bubbly. The hamachi sashimi was A1! I loved it. It was the rolls both my daughter and I I had that weren't so great. The fish was fresh, but it was the rice in the rolls that were kind of hard to chew. Some parts were fine but every couple bites, there would be pieces of rice that were rock hard. I recommend the cooked items like the fish collar, udon, ramen, etc. those were okay. I didn't like the sushi, it's bland from being frozen. I think the salmon sashimi looked good, thick cut, glossy. Just had dinner at dumos in san tie, very, very disappointed, worst sushi i've had in a long time. My wife and I had been going to domos for many years, but now that it has changed hands it, I will never go back. Small portions told they no longer have what I've been ordering for years. Quality of the food, especially the hand rolls were great. Definitely room for improvement on the customer service and attention to detail side. Had a delay in getting my water - almost finished my spicy sushi roll before I received my water. One of my coworkers waited a very long time for her sushi. We even heard the waiter say the chef went on break. My other co-worker received the incorrect sushi roll, although waiter indicated that was the name of the roll she ordered...waiter gave the wrong name of the sushi roll. I asked for a combined check as I was paying for a co-worker, waiter splits the check individually and asked if I can just pay twice. With this lower level of service, I would have expected some kind of apology, or comp but nothing was offered (i.e. discount, meal covered, etc.), I've been here several times before and service is usually good. I do enjoy a good Americanized sushi. And great thing about this one is, there is more fish than the average Americanized sushi places out there. Which the main difference is, the amount of rice vs fish ratio. Many places tried to save money with more rice than fish. This place, although there is that slight extra price, definitely has extra protein to make each bite more satisfying. I will definitely be happy to come back here again. read more

I have been going here for a long time and always valued Domo for its food, service, and overall dining experience. However, recently I've noticed a dramatic drop in both the quality of the food and the service. It feels as though the restaurant is losing what made it special in the first place. The change in management seems to be affecting everything -- from the freshness of ingredients and the consistency of the dishes to the attentiveness and knowledge of the staff. It's disappointing to see a place I once recommended to friends and family become nothing of what is use to be. Unfortunately I won't be returning and letting everyone I once recommended it to that it has gone downhill. I ordered the Spanish roll and it didn't have shrimp tempura or cilantro in it as stated on the menu, just a lot of imitation crab, and the lemon slices on top were way too thick. Also got a tekka maki and it was pretty flavorless. At least the prices were reasonable. I live in Lakeside and this is one of the few sushi places within 15min drive of me. Came here for dinner, I've yet to find a sushi spot in the area I like. This place could change my mind. Showed up and the staff were all very friendly....the food was delicious. I went with some basic rolls, it's usually my rule to try the basic stuff first because if they can't get that right there's no point in going back. Fish was fresh, was very happy with my dining experience. 1 thing I will say, this isn't the only place that's done it so it's not a knock on this place in particular but I don't like when you ask for sriracha and they give you a little dipping bowl of it. In terms of the food, the cucumber salad is okay. It is refreshing, but I wish the cucumber is more crunchy. The cucumber is a little soggy. The salmon skin hand roll is okay. The salmon skin is a little hard, and it seems like it needs to be fresh. The special chief special sashimi is okay. The fish is not too fresh. There are so many places has better sashimi. Ate dinner here tonight for the second time. Disappointed to say it was not as good as the first time earlier this year. My husband and I each ordered the noodle dish with combo meats and veggies. I ordered mine with only broccoli, pea pods and mushrooms. The other person in our group got sushi. My husbands dish came out first. Then mine 10 minutes later and the sushi about 5 minutes after that. My husband's dish was cold by the time the rest of us got our food. My dish had broccoli and zucchini, no pea pods or mushrooms as I requested. I ordered a soda with ice. I got about 5 ice cubes. I asked for a refill and it had no ice cubes. Soda was barely cold. But!! I wanted sushi and had looked up places on Yelp and found Domo sushi. Very glad that I found it because they had outdoor dining when a lot of other sushi places here only did take out. They were really friendly and they had a lot of options and it was really good! I will say that I do love the Santee prices here versus Clairemont, Pb, La Jolla etc prices. This will probably be our go-to sushi place whenever we crave sushi. Quality was good, friendly staff, just a nice experience. read more
