    Take Out
    Laylah G.

First time at Narumi and wow! The quality of sushi was so worth it to be such a small establishment sandwiched in a Michael's parking lot haha First off, parking is in a shared plaza, perfect for the "take out" aspect. I didn't care for the online ordering option, so I walked in on a Saturday night to order. The menu is posted in the window which was very convenient! There were so many people walking in and out, putting in orders / picking up orders. They do a lot of business. We ordered 4 rolls and it took about 30 mins. They were carefully packaged which was so appreciated, & delicious. Inside the restaurant there is limited seating, I'd say maybe 10 seats total? The concept is to pop in have a quick bite and leave, not necessarily sit down with a group and gab over dinner. Overall I can't wait to return! What a gem

Yum, yum, and more yum! Ordering using the website is super easy and allows for customization, like, "no cucumber," or "less rice" (which I didn't realize that's something you can request!), or "add avocado," etc. Orders are ready pretty quickly, but there's no skimping on the flavor. And, amaebi is my favorite!

This is an interesting setup here. It says takeout only but you can sit inside. There are two tables and then counter seating. No sushi bar seating. No table service. Order, pay, sit down. They do bring the food to you and there is self serve water and you bus your table. No frills sushi at its finest? Everything is served on paper plates or takeout containers. Is that bad? Of course not. But if you're looking for fine dining this isn't it. The staff is friendly. The place has its fan base bc the takeout orders were nuts. We've been here twice now so we do like it. We do sit inside. Rolls are standard at a fairly good price. We do the usuals like rainbow and spider rolls. On the recent visit we tried their karrage curry and yellowtail collar. Loved the curry but was let down by the collar as it needed some char imo. Good solid food at a good price.

This place is one of my favorite places in San Diego to get fast and cheap sushi! It is only takeout but they do have tables if you wanted to quickly eat your take out there too. The rolls are on the smaller side but they are all around $12 so it's worth it for me! The inside of the store is very clean and gives the typical sushi restaurant vibes!

I live within walking distance. I'm so lucky!! Please don't plan to eat inside, it's super cramped. Most people only pick up. Their salmon bowl lunch special is available ALL DAY... It's basically rice, seaweed, and salmon. You're given soy sauce and it never fails because they add spicy mayo sauce in it You can't go wrong with any of the rolls as long as you like the ingredients. if you want something simple and creamy, try the smoked Philadelphia roll. I personally like the Goemon roll and if I want something, a little bit more savory filling and as a dish, you can't go wrong with the katsu chicken curry, which comes with a gravy like broth that contains a lot of vegetables and a bowl of rice with delicious ginger pieces, some salad and edamame ALSO.. PLEASE TRY THE 6-piece garlic tofu appetizer

In the area and wanted sushi. Soooo so glad I stumbled this place. So much variety in their rolls with a great price! It's now our go To spot for sushi rolls. I Think each rolls has lots of fish and toppings. The place is small with only a couple seatings spots if you want to sit down but if you want to take out this is the perfect spot.

lunch hour already hoppin' by 11:45.

I wonder if Owner EPAY knows what goes on at his restaurant. The sushi is still excellent (though not inspired as it once was) but my main concern is the general lack of effort. When I called my order in, the woman on the phone was mostly unintelligible and did not seem to care. When I got to the restaurant to have my order as a dine in, the servers attitude was lackluster at best. I am sorry I left any kind of tip electronically . And as always, the Signs with hand written messages to the diner such as "don't leave trash on your table", "put recycled cans and bottles here", are all filthy. They've been there forever and nobody ever cleans them evidently. There is a general attitude of not caring about the restaurant. Usually that means the owner does not care anymore. Too bad because the food is really good .

It was sushi night and we chose to go to a place we hadn't been to in a long time. There is very limited seating as this is more of a pick up/to go place. The sushi here is affordable and the food is good. We were lucky to get a table to dine inside and again remember this is more of a "to go" place and everything is served in a container. We ordered the following... *Nabeyaki Udon Udon with a poached egg, 2pcs Shrimp Tempura, Carrots, Broccolis, seaweed, 2pcs fish cakes, and small piece of chicken *Baked Scallop Roll Inside: Crab, Avocado, & Cream Cheese. Top: Marinated Scallop, Spicy mayo, & Sweet sauce *Crunch Roll Inside: Crab, & Shrimp Tempura Top: Crunch Flake, Sweet Sauce, & spicy mayo *Classic Bento Pick 2 Items. Served with edamame, Salad, and Steam Rice. tempura veggies and shrimp tempura *Sashimi Bento Sashimi 7pcs (Tuna, Salmon, yellowtail), Tempura Mix(2 Shrimps 1 Crab+vegas), Edamame, Salad, & Steam Rice You can't go wrong with anything you order. The sushi was delicious, the soup was flavorful and the Bento choices were yummy!! Would definitely order food here again!!!

I've always seen this Narumi on Yelp with it's high and many ratings. I never knew it was located in a plaza next to my son's football practice field. I've been to the other location in Lemon Grove plenty of times before they closed down and changed ownership to Hinata. So I basically anticipated it tasting the same as the old Narumi in Lemon Grove in which it did. There's really no seating but I saw a lot of people getting takeout and they have a menu posted outside so you can see what you want before entering. They have the same extensive menu and inexpensive prices. I'm pretty familiar with the menu from the previous location which were my usuals: - [x] Narumi bento box with truck stop roll - [x] 7 samurai combo (rainbow, goeman, Hawaiian, and last samurai rolls) - [x] Sunomono salad - [x] Grilled salmon kama w spicy ponzu - [x] YT carpaccio - [x] Mackerel nigiri - [x] Spicy YT hand roll - [x] Spicy scallop hand roll The food was quick even though I placed my order in person and it was about $100 for everything. My only complaint is of the sunomono salad. It had a ton of daikon shredding as a filler but literally 2 strands of imitation crab and a tiny bit of seaweed salad. Other than that everything else is pretty solid.

First time trying this place we ordered to pick up, as my first impression it looks amazing, but smells grimy . Specially the chicken, it has this taste like when it's no longer good, I tried different parts of the chicken but it's a no go for me. Everything has sugar in it, like a sugar dressing for the salad, and hella sugar glaze from the teriyaki where the rice is super drenched. Tbh should have ordered from panda because the chicken was really not it for me. It smells funny and taste is bizarre, and trust me I'm open to new flavors but the chicken is just not it. Unfortunately I wouldn't consider trying this place again.

We came in around 5:30 on a Saturday evening. We ordered a chicken catsu bowl, teriyaki beef & tempura shrimp bento box, a spicy veg roll, fried tofu fried rice, and one more sushi roll I can't remember. We all enjoyed everything. The spicy veg roll was one of my favorite veggie rolls I've had. It wasn't actually as spicy as I expected but it did have a lot of fresh flavors. Service was friendly and pretty fast. It was pretty busy. The only thing that's a bit of a drag is the place is more or less takeout only. There are a couple places to sit and eat but not much. Also the surrounding strip mall is pretty run down. Other than the small location and the state of the area outside the restaurant I'd say it's worth a try.

I am unsure if they are all family but one of the workers daughters was also running around and helping out/interacting with the guests. I'd come back here just based on the positive vibes alone. Besides the service though I ended up ordering a spicy basil with chicken and I did not realize they'd give out the rice in a heart shaped but I thought it was nice touch. The dish overall was solid; good amount of spice, plenty of meat//veggies and a flavorful sauce that complimented it all. One of the workers also came by and just randomly gave me a Thai tea and said it was on the house. The Thai tea itself was good as well, just the right balance of milk, sugar and tea. If I still lived near SDSU I would definitely return here!

It was a little hard to find their menu online since we ordered to-go, and sign outside doesn't match name on Yelp, which made it slightly confusing at first. What initially sold us was crispy pork belly, but we also ordered crunchy roll, pad thai, and yellow curry with chicken. Crispy pork belly (10/10): So yummy. Super crispy on outside, and fat was perfectly balanced. Crispy yet still a little chewy in best way. Crunchy roll (9/10): Wasn't expecting two rolls for price of one! Such a large portion and definitely worth it. Soft, fresh, and really satisfying. Pad thai (10/10): I expected it to be on sweeter side, but it wasn't overly sweet like other places, which I appreciated. Noodles were chewy with nice balanced flavor. Yellow curry (9/10): Great veggie-to-chicken ratio, and curry itself had really good flavor. It also comes with rice on side. Only thing is it was extremely hot and came in plastic container that felt like it softened a bit from heat by time we got home. Service was kind and fast with heartwarming welcome. Restaurant itself was very clean and not too noisy. Definitely would come back, so glad we found this place!

I was a bit hesitant to try this place because I love chinese food and lately its just been hit or miss. Also, sushi/chinese can sometimes be not what you expect. ANYWAY, let me go back to my experience with Ayumi. Small cozy restaurant that has about 8-10 tables. Its apparent they do a lot of take out. It's in a small plaza but there is plenty of parking. You're greeted warmly when going inside, and there's an A-Frame in the front that tells you the daily special. The pictures here on yelp and google helped a lot in making my food decisions. I love my orange chicken not too much breading, and an even sauce to nugget ratio. Some of the other chinese restaurants in the immediate area are wayyyy too saucy or too breaded. I chose the Sweet & Pungent chicken, bc that sounded good ... boy it did not disappoint. It came out on a bed of crispy noodles and steamed broccoli. The pieces were evenly sauced and sticky the way I love it ... so I can only imagine the orange chicken, sweet and sour, and whatever else is fried will be decent. Definitely coming back just for this. My bf had the kung pao trio, and it was probably the most decent I've had in a while. The prices are reasonable for the area for the sushi, the chinese food, and even the beverages (some places be gouging for beer), and I'm going to be trying this place out for the lunch specials which is always a good combo of entree, appetizer, and drink. 5 stars for the chinese food, Can't wait to try the sushi next time.

So I ordered through GrubHub and I still think everything was delicious! They have a combination of Chinese foods and Japanese sushis. I ordered an Adam and Eve Roll which was good. The 2 main stars of the show were the scallop roll and the salt and pepper chicken wings! Okay where do I even start?! The scallop roll came from the basic rolls so I was expecting it to be pretty basic. No one told me they were going to put raw scallops omg it was sooo good and soft! Melted like butter in my mouth. Then the salt and pepper chicken wings might be up there on top wings in SD because not only do they load that thing with garlic but they also dice up tiny red bell peppers and omg what a game changer!
