Cozy & Quaint Sushi Spot Immediately upon entering you can feel the mom & pop vibes. The service was good and timing of food was quick. I ordered the yum yum & shaggy roll. Miso Soup was fresh and hotttt most places serve it lukewarm. House salad with ginger dressing was refreshing. Both rolls I requested light sauce and we killed it. Vietnamese coffee was a nice cap to the meal. Upon leaving, we noticed a cute setup offering free dental supplies to kids. My boyfriend and I were set on having sushi on Friday night. We drove to Konnichiwa and saw that Farmers Market was going on so got turned off by the parking and crowd situation. So we decided to try the new Tappi Sushi that newly opened at the old Oyster and Pearl Bar restaurant location. On the way there we passed Kawaii Sushi and thought we'd give it a try instead. It was about 6ish when we sat down so we had almost an hour before HH ended. Cool! I appreciate later HHs...so that's a plus. We ordered the Garlic Edamame, Fried Calamari, Gyoza, and Eggrolls off the HH menu. The server was nice and attentive. The appetizers came out fairly quickly. We then ordered 2 sushi rolls once we got the apps. I unfortunately had nothing good to say about any of the apps we got. See my comments in each pic. I hoped the rolls would be better but they really didn't win us over either. Boo! Once we got the bill we realized we didn't know what was so 'Happy' about the HH....there were no prices on the HH menu. I looked up the prices on website and compared them to the bill...at best it was like $1 off each appetizer but not all of them despite the fact that the items were specifically on the HH menu. Deceiving! Anyway needless to say we won't be going back and my true rating is 2.5 stars but yelp doesn't let me do halfsies. Sayanara Kawaii Sushi. read more

Started off with a delicious miso soup, wish we got two as we shared and couldn't get enough. Went next to steamed gyoza which was so so, not too hot which was a little bummer. After that had some shrimp spring rolls which were okay. The highlight was the sushi rolls we got and there was no holding back on the wasabi and ginger. Thai tea amazing would go here just for that if in the need. Service was decent read more

I'm not sure why we don't come here more often, but it's definitely been moved up on my list as a reliable go-to. I've never been disappointed; the food, service, and space are all excellent. This time around I ordered the Protein No. 1 roll: a mix of shrimp, ahi, salmon, and another white fish I'm embarrassed to admit I don't know. (It was good though!) the Protein Roll is especially great for those of us avoiding rice. Additionally, I ordered garlic edamame and unsweetened iced tea. Together, it was one of the best lunches I've had in a while. I also love the owners. They're always so friendly and kind. She patiently explained how the iced tea she gave me was actually beneficial for diabetics, which is a huge plus! My son was stoked with the lunch special. He got his gyoza and cream cheese wontons with miso soup on the side. It was a lot! For those of you in the mood for boba, this shop has delicious smoothies and fruity boba drinks. D got a banana smoothie this time... My daughter loves the milk teas here as well. read more

This place is really special! The food is amazing, but aside from that, the service has always been exceptional. I'm usually there around 4pm with my son after school. He is two years old and there is a little kid's table with a tea set and fun toys for little ones to entertain themselves while the adults eat. Today our server, who I believe is the owner, went above and beyond. She treated us like family, gave my son a free dessert, and gifted him a little toy when he was upset that we had to leave. It was very touching and this single mama appreciated it so so much. I cannot recommend this place enough, they are genuinely good people. Please support this business! read more

I was excited when a sushi spot opened up close to my workplace as I absolutely love sushi and was hoping it would become a favorite for a quick and healthy lunch. I noticed that some of the reviews date back several years ago, but I've only seen this location open up around a year ago. So far, I have been there twice, both times for takeout at lunchtime. The restaurant is clean and food has been ready for me both times when I walked in. The restaurant itself looks like it would be a nice place to dine in and is deceivingly large as compared to how it looks on the outside. The staff was friendly both times, though I didn't linger and chat either time. I did notice that they have free candy and sometimes small toys for children near the entrance. The menu is relatively large, and they serve a lot more than just sushi. At my first visit, I ordered the chef selection sashimi. I definitely enjoyed it, but I do feel that it was a bit overpriced for the size. At my most recent visit, I ordered the sashimi salad and a tuna hand roll. The tuna hand roll was was fresh and tasty with a good texture. I was not as impressed with the sashimi salad. It was coated in some sort of creamy sauce that took away from the fish in my opinion. Luckily, it wasn't too thick or heavy, but because of the sauce, I couldn't tell what kind of fish I was eating. All in all, it is a nice clean, casual place with fast service. Some food items are better than others. I will probably try a could other menu items in the future. In truth, I would give this place 3.5 stars, but I chose to give 4 instead of 3 because I would return and I hope to find some other menu items that I enjoy. read more

The sushi is fresh and yummy! So for the sushi alone it's a 5. The Sakai was good of course! Bento box for each parent was the perfect size but a bit spicy for dad so beware. He has the all American flat palate so for the uninitiated you may want to ask for mild sauces (ie on salad). Surprisingly he finished his box and enjoyed it! Mom was brave and tried the Thai tea either boba. I was pleasantly surprised to see she like it! Even the waitress didn't expect that result! We had some kids behind us which made it a little. Okay and they were running a fan as the AC wasn't strong enough. But the location is very clean and the team is sweet. We enjoyed our big night out on the town! read more
