Black garlic pork chasiu ramen is the best and the spicy garlic edamame.

The food is gone!!! That's just left over broth and sauce lol....and I'll also be taking that home. The service is amazing and the food is so flavorful. It's our favorite spot for ramen. Black garlic pork chasiu ramen is the best and the spicy garlic edamame. We've been coming here for 6 years! To many more years Tappi

Yummy!

Horrendous, the amount of gnats flying around and in our food was disgusting. Once I told them about this and showed them the evidence, management was kind enough to stay behind the bar not bothering to come and speak with us. They graciously comp one roll. Crazy to think how little you must care to handle this situation like this. Definitely never coming back.

after walking out of a restaurant i normally go to I decided to come into tappi instead and was remained how the service is good and they all friendly. Unlike the other restaurant I just walked out of changing my mind . The food is really good here too so paying a tad bit more money for sushi and worth it . Let lessons be learned.

my family of 7 ate here the other day and every one of us left happy! the restaurant is beautiful and had cool fish themed lights on the ceiling. there was a full bar, and a happy hour menu. i ordered the vegetarian green machine roll and vegetable fried rice and as the very kind and stylish waitress brought out our food we were all surprised at how beautifully presented it all was. the plates alone made me feel fancy! and for debatably the most important part- the food was delicious! as a vegetarian it can be hard to find anything other than an avocado cucumber roll but they have a specialty vegetarian roll called the green machine and it was very tasty! next time i order it, i would probably order it so the seaweed is on the outside- but that's just my personal preference. the fried rice was shaped, and everyone knows shaped rice tastes better! i loved the portion sizes and i will be finishing off the rest of my leftovers today. thank you tappi sushi for an amazing experience for me and my whole giant family!

We got take out. 3 rolls (2 specialty rolls) and one spicy Tuna. The spicy tuna roll was very fishy...I couldn't even eat it. It tasted like the tuna or whatever they had put inside was sitting out for a while. The specialty rolls were not what I expected especially for the price you pay. Very small rolls and the fish was not fresh and very fishy. The worst part about our order was the All in One Fried rice. It comes with steak, chicken and shrimp. The portion of the rice was so sadly small.... I literally counted the protein pieces in the rice because of how small it was. No joke, there was only ONE shrimp cut in half to make it look like two pieces of shrimp in there, I counted 5 pieces of steak bite and 6 pieces of the driest chicken I have tasted. The fried rice was super oily and had absolutely no flavor. I am sooo disappointed in this place and I hope they do better especially for the price that people pay. This is the first time we had take from this place. My husband and I would go eat at this restaurant but it has been a while and it was always good. This is our last time ordering from there....

Was in the neighborhood and got really hungry out of the blue. Stopped in for a quick lunch before my appointment and they were able to accommodate by preparing my food quickly, scarfing it down, and paying the bill. Their sushi rice was really good and prepared the correct way which sometimes is hard to find around San Diego. Welcoming and attentive customer service. No complaints out of me. For sure will return with a large party to sample many different rolls.

Tappi has a great selection. Many many rolls to chose from and all very tasty from what I've tried. They also have a full bar. I enjoyed the insanity roll and the shrimp poppers. My friend got the ceviche which was super fresh and made to order. They have plum wine flavored mochi which was excellent. Located in a shopping center with a large parking lot.

We always come back here. We have tried several rolls from the menu and they never disappoint. Mmmm…read moreone downside is that the basic rolls are very tiny but they've kept the prices at a reasonable level, so I really don't expect more about those. If you like the deep fried ones, the last we tried was the Bazooka roll and it was delicious!! I definitely recommend it. The service is always 10/10! They are very friendly, responsive, kind, and when you pick up they always receive you with a smile, that is really important and appreciated I definitely recommend this sushi place! 5s

(btw the prices changed within a week of ordering in march 2026)

So we decided to try the new Tappi Sushi that newly opened at the old Oyster and Pearl Bar restaurant location. On the way there we passed Kawaii Sushi and thought we'd give it a try instead. It was about 6ish when we sat down so we had almost an hour before HH ended. Cool! I appreciate later HHs...so that's a plus. We ordered the Garlic Edamame, Fried Calamari, Gyoza, and Eggrolls off the HH menu. The server was nice and attentive. The appetizers came out fairly quickly. We then ordered 2 sushi rolls once we got the apps. I unfortunately had nothing good to say about any of the apps we got. See my comments in each pic. I hoped the rolls would be better but they really didn't win us over either. Boo! Once we got the bill we realized we didn't know what was so 'Happy' about the HH....there were no prices on the HH menu. I looked up the prices on website and compared them to the bill...at best it was like $1 off each appetizer but not all of them despite the fact that the items were specifically on the HH menu. Deceiving! Anyway needless to say we won't be going back and my true rating is 2.5 stars but yelp doesn't let me do halfsies. Sayanara Kawaii Sushi.

I am unsure if they are all family but one of the workers daughters was also running around and helping out/interacting with the guests. I'd come back here just based on the positive vibes alone. Besides the service though I ended up ordering a spicy basil with chicken and I did not realize they'd give out the rice in a heart shaped but I thought it was nice touch. The dish overall was solid; good amount of spice, plenty of meat//veggies and a flavorful sauce that complimented it all. One of the workers also came by and just randomly gave me a Thai tea and said it was on the house. The Thai tea itself was good as well, just the right balance of milk, sugar and tea. If I still lived near SDSU I would definitely return here!

I was a bit hesitant to try this place because I love chinese food and lately its just been hit or miss. Also, sushi/chinese can sometimes be not what you expect. ANYWAY, let me go back to my experience with Ayumi. Small cozy restaurant that has about 8-10 tables. Its apparent they do a lot of take out. It's in a small plaza but there is plenty of parking. You're greeted warmly when going inside, and there's an A-Frame in the front that tells you the daily special. The pictures here on yelp and google helped a lot in making my food decisions. I love my orange chicken not too much breading, and an even sauce to nugget ratio. Some of the other chinese restaurants in the immediate area are wayyyy too saucy or too breaded. I chose the Sweet & Pungent chicken, bc that sounded good ... boy it did not disappoint. It came out on a bed of crispy noodles and steamed broccoli. The pieces were evenly sauced and sticky the way I love it ... so I can only imagine the orange chicken, sweet and sour, and whatever else is fried will be decent. Definitely coming back just for this. My bf had the kung pao trio, and it was probably the most decent I've had in a while. The prices are reasonable for the area for the sushi, the chinese food, and even the beverages (some places be gouging for beer), and I'm going to be trying this place out for the lunch specials which is always a good combo of entree, appetizer, and drink. 5 stars for the chinese food, Can't wait to try the sushi next time.

So I ordered through GrubHub and I still think everything was delicious! They have a combination of Chinese foods and Japanese sushis. I ordered an Adam and Eve Roll which was good. The 2 main stars of the show were the scallop roll and the salt and pepper chicken wings! Okay where do I even start?! The scallop roll came from the basic rolls so I was expecting it to be pretty basic. No one told me they were going to put raw scallops omg it was sooo good and soft! Melted like butter in my mouth. Then the salt and pepper chicken wings might be up there on top wings in SD because not only do they load that thing with garlic but they also dice up tiny red bell peppers and omg what a game changer!
