Always amazing! Sushi sounds good on a hot east county day! Service is always great and the music is perfect!
Hana Sushi is amazing! My husband and I have been loyal customers for years, and they never disappoint. The food is always fresh, delicious, and consistently high quality. Whether we dine in or order takeout, the experience is always the same--excellent food, great service, and outstanding quality. It's one of our favorite places, and we highly recommend it to anyone looking for amazing sushi!
I am Japanese, born and raised. I was hungry for old-fashion Tempura, light and crispy batter, dip in Tentsuyu sauce. I had shrimp and vegetable tempura bento box last night. Overall it is good enough but not authentic. Tempura vegetables are good, using tempura batter, very crispy. Shrimp was coated with panko, not tempura batter (flour, egg and ice cold water) and fried. Dipping sauce for tempura was strange and interfered with the flavor of tempura. Shrimp coated with panko breading was what go in to sushi rolls. They probably have them ready for sushi rolls and just grabbed and fried them, instead of making fresh with tempura batter. Sauce for Gyoza was not traditional either. I would skip tempura and gyoza next time, if I go again.
Great place for a quick and tasty sushi for your cravings. There was no wait time and we were seated right away. This restaurant is located in the same strip mall as Junction Bar & Grill and close to what used to be Harvest Ranch Market. Plenty of parking. We ordered citrus roll and salmon skin roll. Both were delicious and decently priced.
Everything was delightful and this coulda been five stars. The decor is gorgeous, food presentation is great. I have read the other reviews and it seems the issue is them getting mad or still charging you if the food is wrong but we did not experience that, luckily(?,) and it seems inconceivable. As for the Customer Service, everybody was absolutely wonderful. The rude Customer Service some reviews mention must've been from this one guy, who is the busser. He's kind of gruff around the edges, and did come across as very rude, but everybody else couldn't be sweeter. There is an issue with one of the boots being in the direct sight of the parking lot that glares strong sunlight during lunchtime right in your face, through the door. All the other windows have shade cloths, but they need one on the door. It's a simple fix. :-) I hope they do it. We will definitely be back. Although I don't see any checks and balances for correcting that one guy's behavior. Then again, not everyone is destined to work at Nordstrom or Disney so... considering the rest of the place is so amazing I can chill out about that one particular interaction. (I'm editing this right now, and I was considering taking this to five stars, because the bus boy just came back and was charming and sweet with my four year-old... I think English is not his first language so maybe that's also part of the seeming rude? However, it should still probably be addressed so I left this at four stars.)
Hana always has their sushi game on . Yesterday, I ordered the Crazy Roll & Sergio Roll. Both were fantastic! This is another five star***** Review! because I have been enjoying HANA for more than a decade. Check out the photos of these perfectly crafted rolls! Rolled expertly, with very fresh fish, abundant shrimp and lined with rice. You will not get a mouthful of a giant wall of rice here, your rolls will be balanced between the rice and the fish. So well executed! Thank you to the owners and to the chefs of Hana, you are very talented. This latest order was a total stand out! I do pick up fresh wasabi from a small Japanese market, but they do have it here and I always forget to ask for it. [ Nijiya Market in the freezer section ]. So big shout out to my fav sushi spot in all of San Diego!! and I have been to them alllll. Another highlight is Hana's rice. It is really amazing, made so well. And just so you understand my devotion to this place, I live about fourteen miles away and don't mind the nearly thirty mile trip to get out to Jamacha Road to Hana's!!! I don't even remember how I originally found this place but I am so glad I did. ハナさん、ありがとう。 Hana-san, arigatō.
You might think a sushi place in east county would be sus but honestly this is one of my favorite places to go! Their sushi is always tasty, with big portions for the right price. Especially the lunch special. The service is great as well even when it's incredibly busy. I have a newfound love for Hana Sushi and they are easily one of my top 3 sushi places in San Diego!
My husband and I were craving sushi and decided to try Hana Sushi, which was recommended by my brother-in-law, and we're so glad we did! The sushi was incredibly fresh, clean, and full of flavor. Everything we ordered tasted great. The service was also really good. It did take a little while to get a drink refill, but the place was busy, so it was totally understandable. Our waiter was super helpful, when I asked for his recommendation, he suggested the Sergio Roll, and it absolutely did not disappoint! Overall, we had a great experience and can definitely see ourselves becoming regulars here.
So, the gals and I have been wanting to do a sushi boat for quite some time. But, I'm attached to the hip w/ a partner that does NOT care for sushi. So, it's a must that chicken teriyaki is available. Hana Sushi opens at noon/ weekend. It's a pretty busy shopping center here. Hubby ordered his chicken teriyaki (served w/ miso soup or salad & white rice). An order of fries and the best spicy garlic edamame I've had in awhile. *Even better as leftovers a few hours later!* Thank you to staff, who was patient with us and answered our questions regarding the sushi boat. We ordered the medium size (which is the smallest option). For a medium size- 8-10 rolls can be ordered. So, it was easier for us to order 3 rolls each. I had my handy dandy pen and notepad in my purse. I wrote down our 3 rolls of choice (mine were Sergio, Sexy and Tequila). When our "frigate" was delivered- we just Oooh'd amd Ahhhh'd! Our host did point out in order (R-L) the order of the rolls. Which of course, I wrote them down on the other side of my handy dandy piece of paper. My friend looked at me and said- "Jojo, remember this is not a race!! Take your time!" And I laughed! Because, this definitely was not a race! I already had instant regret wearing my denim Levi 501 button fly shorts! You know I had to unbutton the top two before the frigate arrived to our table! LOL Such a chill atmosphere. The Sexy roll was my absolute favorite out of my 3. Sexy roll: lightly fried spicy salmon, eel, avocado, masago, scallions, sesame seed & cheese topped w/ eel sauce and spicy mayo. Sergio roll: spicy tuna and shrimp tempura, avocado, topped w/ salmon, tuna, yellowtail, tobiko & spicy mayo. Eel sauce, masago. Tequila roll: shrimp tempura, avocado, and cucumber topped w/ tuna. Jalapeño, eel sauce, spicy mayo, & sesame seed. When the bill arrives- the sushi boat is broken down by the price of each roll! It was easy for us to split. And we definitely took leftovers home. I thought I was gonna have sushi the next day. But, I was wrong!! I had a second wind later that night and finished the remainder of my rolls and that delicious spicy garlic edamame. And after all of that- I would have been good on eating anything else for the rest of the year! All 3 of my rolls were terrific. I think I'm crazy for even saying this- but, I would definitely order another boat again! The presentation is gorgeous! The establishment is full of space with an outdoor patio. Bathrooms are clean and staff is awesome.
Hana sushi is a fantastic place to get sushi. The food tasted delicious and the restaurant was very chill and relaxed. We got the Kobe, volcano , sexy , and rainbow roll. They were all very good but nothing exceptionally great, unfortunately the Kobe was my least favorite of these but it was still very good! This is more of a testament to the other rolls. Their appetizers were also top tier, between the garlic edamame, wontons and karaage you can not go wrong. Service was prompt and the right amount of attentiveness. I highly highly recommend this place especially for the price!
I may be a bit of a sushi snob since I try a lot of sushi spots, but this one was pretty average. I ordered the sushi lunch special ($13.50), which includes a California roll and five pieces of chef's choice nigiri. Good price, but the quality was middle of the road. The California roll had an unusually large amount of imitation crab that overwhelmed it, though I did appreciate the lighter amount of rice and the good avocado. The nigiri included one salmon, two tuna (I was hoping for five different selections), and two lighter fish that I believe were yellowtail and mackerel. The rice portions were nicely small, but the fish did not seem especially cold or particularly fresh. Service was friendly and attentive. Overall, not bad, just fairly average sushi.
Came here for Mother's Day with our family, a nicely decorated interior restaurant with friendly and very attentive staff. We ordered the Hana Salad, chicken yakisoba, Futo Maki hand roll, triple Hako roll, Kobe roll, temple roll, beef teriyaki plate, and a bento. They forgot to add something into the futo maki hand roll, and gave us another with the added veggie for free! All our food was very yummy and the sushi rolls were huge! They tend to run between $14-$20 but it definitely seems like you get that much worth of sushi. The Hana salad was also huge and had generous portions of seafood which was very nice to see. Chicken yakisoba was good, the sauce was more on the sweet side, which isn't what I was expecting but I didn't hate it. Beef teriyaki plate was good but had a LOT of rice. Overall, we all liked it a lot and will definitely be back, we'd love to bring a big group and order one of their signature sushi boats!
I found my new spot for sushi (since my usual spot was not so close to home)! The price is fair. Rolls come out pretty big. I had a good first experience so I actually came back three more times within one month! My family also enjoyed coming here. Staffs were friendly with the kids, and the service is fast.

Based on our recent visit, I'm struggling to understand how this establishment has an overall score of 4 stars. We were not greeted by an employee at the hostess stand and finally sat ourselves. It took 15 minutes for a server to greet us and ask for our drink order. Once he arrived for our drink order we put in a small food order to test out the quality of proteins. It took 40 minutes to get two hand rolls and one albacore sashimi order. The order took so long to arrive that once it did, we quickly put in a specialty roll order before trying the hand rolls. The specialty roll came out in two minutes flat, I did see a roll sitting on the sushi bar before we ordered. I believe we got someone else's roll because I asked about the long wait times. After the roll was delivered a server came over to our booth specifically to make a snarky comment, he said "you're lucky this was fast, people wait 1 hour for this on Fridays." The restaurant was clean, had a neat wall painting and the parking was free, those are the only positive experiences from our visit. The sashimi was dry as if it had been sitting out not properly stored. Hand rolls were mostly rice, the only protein is what you can see in the pic - gone in one bite of a 4 bite roll. The specialty roll was average. This was a very unpleasant experience, we will not go back and will not recommend to friends/family/yelpers. It should also be noted that we went on a Sunday afternoon and there were 3 sushi chefs behind the counter, 3 servers on the floor and 1 host. Hard to understand why the wait times were excessive and service was poor. Our server did acknowledge that the service was slow, however, he did not offer any apology, he just shrugged it off. read more

My fave foodie spot in rancho san diego! The sushi is beyond yummy. The chefs are so talented and creative - the presentation is wow-worthy! The ambiance is chic, clean and comfortable. The staff is super friendly and quick. The sake was yum and the beer came in frosted mugs! My husband doesn't love sushi and he loved his Chicken Katsu and our baby daughter liked the egg fried rice. Overall, super impressed and looking forward to our next visit! read more

Hana Sushi located in a shopping center in El Cajon off of Jamacha, where parking is ample and easy! Appeared to be a family ran business with good customer service, clean establishment, and delicious food with great presentation! Indoor seating with tables and booths as well as outdoor seating. This location has not trouble accommodating a huge party. We had: Kobe roll - delish Tequila roll - delish Calamari - thick meaty strips that came with an amazing spicy mayo sauce. Unfortunately there were no tentacles Gyoza - delish Salmon sashimi - fresh and thick slices Tempura ice cream - I wasn't a fan of the tempura part to be honest. I did get a chance to try their tempura bananas w/ice cream...THAT WAS AMAZING! Definitely order the tempura banana dessert! If in the El Cajon area and craving some good sashimi or sushi, I definitely recommend Hana Sushi. We will definitely be back! read more

We tried Hana Sushi tonight. We have always been Leary because my wife does not like Sushi. In the course of giving this place a tribe, we found that they serve more than just sushi. I have the California roll and the chicken with rice and was not disappointed. If you were into trying different beers, I would recommend the mango cart. My wife had the chicken tempura. It came with four large pieces of chicken, tempura and tempura vegetables that were amazing. Also came with rice and a side salad in El Cajon 2nd St. or Jamacha in Washington, give them a try. Prices are extremely reasonable great service and great Asian ambience with a sports bar atmosphere. Very friendly employees and Care very much for their customers. read more

We used to own a sushi restaurant so my pallette is biased but this food is above average. I loved their take on the sushi chips. It's 4 different fish on top of a fried seaweed paper. And it hits just right. The times I've been here the service was pretty good and after they expanded the floor the ambiance is really laid back and roomy. I think it's one of the best in East County. I will come here again. I dig it a lot. read more
