Rare steak and brisket Pho - Dec 2025
Candace C.

Pho that satisfied the craving on a cold evening but prefer the City Heights location much more. Simplified menu here and they have a bar. Inside is clean and service was good when we went. Downside was the pho wasn't as hot as I would've liked and the noodles were all broken up and overcooked. Easy parking in the plaza. Prices are about $13 a bowl which is reasonable. I got the rare steak and brisket, the rare steak wasn't very rare when I got it but overall hit the spot

This place was recommended to us by friends, finally had a chance to try it out. Great prices, good portion size. Some of the sides are over priced (tofu $4). Good portions of bean sprouts, limes, jalapeños and basil (ask for refills as needed). We ordered shrimp and grilled beef spring rolls, rare steak bowl and vegetarian bowl - everything was tasty. Ample free parking, clean dining area, average service. Bathrooms are not as clean as most restaurants. Good experience overall, we will be back. This is currently our favorite pho spot in the area.

Food is delicious and plenty. Oxtails for soup is humongous. The lychee was yummy and fried rice was great. Server was friendly

Grill Grilled Shrimp Pho and spring rolls

The grill shrimp pho was excellent with the grill shrimp on the side. Only thing missing was no vegetables. It was still savory, as I'm usually accustomed to the shrimp being in the pho when served. The spring rolls were also very good. They also gave us an extra serving of their dipping peanut butter sauce. The only negative was taking too long to get seated as they only had two servers with almost a full restaurant. They did however apologize for the wait.

if I could leave 0 starts I would We were served raw bread and fried chicken that was clearly undercooked--pink inside and cold near the bone. This isn't a preference issue; it's a food safety problem. When we pointed it out, there was no urgency and no real apology. Even worse, they refused to refund the full order, despite the issue being obvious. They would only refund the single item, even though the entire meal was ruined and we couldn't safely eat anything. Eating out shouldn't feel like a health gamble, and customers shouldn't have to argue for a refund when raw food is served. We won't be back.

Stale spring rolls

Very disappointed of this restaurant. I used to love coming here with my family and enjoy some real pho. I don't know what change but definitely it changed for the worse. The lady that took our order was not very friendly or helpful. The food had a bad taste. The pho noodles had a plastic taste. The orange chicken had artificial over top orange chicken sauce that's taste like artificial flavor, lastly the spring rolls were stale, the pork inside was so dry that I was not able to chew. Please don't waste your money in this place, there are better options in the same area where they do care about their food and their clients.

Chicken egg rolls
Crystal D.

Most places put shrimp in their egg rolls, but I am severely allergic to shellfish. Here I can have egg rolls with chicken or tofu! So happy. We drive across town so I can be safe.

Always the same good service and of course really good food with excellent taste I highly recommend to anyone to to try thanks..

Ask the Community - Pho Ca Dao & Grill

Is the pho broth vegetarian?

Yes... I'm not positive about their current menu, but I believe they have at least 4 different broths. These set Pho Ca Dao apart. V5 is the Pho and I get V1 V+tofu spring rolls. 4.5 in my book.

What could I eat here that doesn't have onions in it?

Hi Don! Anything! Onions are just garnishments. Please make sure you let the servers know that you don’t want onions. :)

Can someone please post the menu?

We were seated along the wall which had booth seating, which I prefer. For drinks I ordered a Thai tea no boba and the hubs a coke. We order the following items for dinner: Appetizers - - Crispy egg rolls - with pork (4 pieces) - served with veggies and fish sauce, these were tasty. - Salt pepper chicken wings - (8 pieces) they were a tad over fried but flavor was good. - Spring rolls - (2 pieces) with pork and shrimp, we ordered these Togo. Hubs enjoyed these for a late evening snack. Entrees - - Combination fried rice - chicken, shrimp and cha siu (Chinese bbq pork) I liked the flavoring of the fried rice - it was not bland, but I did mix in a tiny bit of hoisin sauce. - Pho rare steak - overloaded with green onions and cilantro. We always order pho but I really wasn't feeling it that evening, so it was all the hubs. If you love tons of green onions and cilantro, get it! The broth had a really strong flavoring of the cilantro. Overall dinner was fairly good. Seemed like there were regular customers that visited often. Staff were super nice and friendly. Parking lot was not packed at all. If in the area, I'd visit again. 2026: 7

The service was excellent the moment we walked in and continued all the way until we left. The entire floor staff were friendly, attentive, and incredibly hardworking--especially as the dinner rush picked up. You could really see them hustling, but they never missed a beat. The food was just as impressive as the service. We started with the shrimp and beef spring rolls with fish sauce, which are always a must for us. For our mains, we ordered a variety of rice platter dishes including grilled shrimp, BBQ pork, BBQ chicken, egg rolls, and a BBQ beef banh mi sandwich--everything was flavorful and satisfying. One thing that really stood out was our waiter, who memorized our entire order without writing anything down--very impressive! I also placed a to-go order for the #99 platter, and everything came out quickly and accurately. We were in and out in under an hour and a half, even during peak dinner time. When the service is exceptional everything else follows! Overall, a fantastic dining experience with great food and exceptional service!!!!

Then as I'm watching them work, the older guy is preparing the tins with spoons and places his fingers on the spoons and the sauce plates. As I'm watching him a young kid grabs a bowl to bring to a customer next to us and he uses his bare hand to wipe out the bowl, obviously seeing something in the bowl. And hands it to the customer. The health and safety board needs to indirect this place. The tables were wiped but you could still see grease remnants from left over food on the table. The lack of sanitary practices gets an " F" rating. It is obvious no one has a food handlers certificate. One plate came out and had to wait over 5 min for next plate to Come out. If you keep your eyes closed and don't watch what they are doing here, you probably think their food is great. We won't ever come here again.

The menu is full of other entrees, and I recommend trying some of their other dishes as well. We ordered a pho short ribs, pho filet mignon, miso ramen and shoyu ramen. The ramen noodles were delicious and they had a firm texture and were able to maintain their shape without becoming too soggy. The ramen soup was refreshing and flavorful. I had the pho fillet mignon. The broth had a complex flavor profile of hearty, and savory with undertones of onions and garlic. Tammi was extremely friendly. She walked us through how she prepares the pho broth each day. I could tell she took great care and pride in her work. We also ordered the watermelon lemonade. The taste was refreshing and you can tell it was made from fresh watermelon. We also tried the mango pudding sago dessert. It was sweet and had jackfuit and coconut jelly. My kids love it. Overall, this place is a hidden gem. The atmosphere is a quaint quiet place to enjoy a nice meal with your family. I implore everybody to give this place a try. The prices are fair, the staff is kind and the food is delicious. Will come back to try their poke dishes when they are available on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Why would I downgrade? THE BÁNH MÌ BREAD IS REALLY CRISPY (NOT SOGGY). some of the less-than-5-star reviews are @#%% RIDICULOUS! People complain about the smallest, most ridiculous things. One night I was having dinner there and a "KAREN" was complaining because the credit card machine temporarily wasn't working. What exactly were they supposed to do -- magically fix technology on the spot? s**** happend! Meanwhile, another guy stepped in trying to calm the situation down and be the peacemaker. Honestly, that moment said more about the complaining than it did about the restaurant. Maybe I should leave a review on the behavior of some customers instead. This isn't fast food -- this is culture, tradition, and hard work! I love Vietnamese people in general and employ some of them . Their families take pride in what they do, and it shows.!!! If you're looking for authentic, high-quality Vietnamese food made with care, this is it. I'll keep coming back. Every time.
