I was really sick and felt horrible, so I called for a to go order of the Chicken Pho. I asked for extra broth, mint, cilantro, lime, and jalapeños. At first she was a little confused, but I told her I was sick and looking for something to help kick my cold. This lady was SO SWEET! She basically doubled my entire order, and said, "this should be enough for 2-3 meals for you"! I swear this woman cured me. The pho was all I ate for 2 days straight (with other remedies of course) and I felt much better by the end of it. Pho Minh has officially become my go-to spot because of this experience. This is such a nice mom and pop place I wish them all the best. The food is spectacular guys. The broth is very authentic and not over done like all the other places that try to be fancy. It's very cozy and intimate. However, it makes me sad we were the only one in there. The service is superb and the appetizers tickled all my fancy. You should try the crispy tofu. The service was awful. When I enter a restaurant I expect to be greeted and at acknowledged with a smile. The cashier was very rude. She acted as if we were bothering her when she took our order. The ambience was abrasive. The other members were also rude. They looked right through us as if we didn't exist. The only reason I didn't leave was because my grandson wanted pho for his birthday and they were the only one still open in the area. when I told my daughter about the service she told me she experienced the same rudeness and discontent There are other pho restaurants that actually treat people as human beings. The food was really good, and MOST of the employees were kind and welcoming. Unfortunately, one younger female employee completely changed the experience for me. She had a very rude attitude and spoke to customers in a way that came across as disrespectful and unprofessional. Based on other reviews, it seems I'm not the only customer who has had this experience, which makes it seem like this isn't just a one time issue. I'm giving this place 3 stars because I genuinely feel bad for the older gentleman, who I believe is the owner. He seemed kind, and the diner itself is cute with great food. But whether the younger woman is his daughter or another employee, I really hope she works on how she treats customers. The people walking through the door are the reason a business succeeds, and treating them with kindness and respect goes a long way. I recommend to pair this with a side of rice and soy sauce along with spring rolls. It's bomb, trust. Every time I come down to SD, I always stop by here. If you are looking for a lunch and dinner that will be filling not only for the belly, but for the soul, come to Pho Minh. I have come for several lunches to destress because the energy of this place is so relaxed. The team plays calming, meditative music. Think spa music. And while it is in a busy strip with a gas station, you cannot hear the outside noise inside. And other diners mostly -- and thankfully -- keep quiet as well. We may all be here for the same mood. Hands down, the two best things on the menu are the P1 and the garlic shrimp. I order my pho without noodles, and with a side of rice instead. A small is hefty enough for a serving. I once ordered the large and was overwhelmed by the size and did not finish. The broth has a deep but not too oily flavor and texture. It is excellent on its own. P1 comes with brisket, tripe, tendon and tripe -- all the fixings. They provide an ample side of basil and sprouts as well. Only the jalapenos are never spicy. And no Ngo Gai -- not sure if they serve it here. And they are not always generous with the meats, so you may have to ask for an extra side. I've done this and have heard other guests doing this same. Same with the spring rolls. Lots of lettuce and much less going on in the Department of Other Flavors. The garlic shrimp -- chef's kiss! Delicious! If you are ravenous, you can have it as a solo appetizer but, really, it is best shared among two people. If you devour this dish on your own, don't be ashamed. Honestly, you won't. It's that good. But you must love garlic. I will say that my absolute pho in San Diego is still Pho Ca Dao. But Pho Minh takes the second place, by far. And I will keep coming back for the ambiance, the delicious offerings -- which have always been VERY fresh in all my experiences there -- and the kind and attentive staff. read more

Shrimp spring rolls - typically most Vietnamese restaurants I've been to will serve spring rolls with shrimp and a meat (either beef or pork), however, just as the name says, it's just shrimp spring rolls. For me, I like a proportionate of protein and veggies, but the shrimp spring rolls were just for 4 half sliced shrimps (so technically 2 shrimps a spring roll) with lettuce, a little bit of noodles, and mostly bean sprouts. Chicken wings - they smelled really good on the way home, but the chicken wings were small, like party size chicken wings, and barely had any meat on them. Pho Tai Chin - my boyfriend, and I both got the pho. It wasn't bad, but there are many other places with better broth. I think the meat portion is decent. I had asked for extra cilantro, but in comparison to what my boyfriend got, it looks about the same portion of cilantro. I asked for some Sriracha to go, but I noticed it was an off brand. I thought it would be what they had in the restaurant in a little container. Overall, the pho was okay. I really wanted to love this place since so close to my house but I don't think I will be back. I've lived in the Valley for about 7 years now and never tried any of the Asian spots around here only because I'm skeptical about how it'll taste tailored to Americans so I usually just go down to City Heights or the more known spots. However, I was hungover last night and did not want to drive anywhere far so I decided to check out my local area. Right off the bat I'm going to mention it was a bit Americanized. It's a small establishment with a few tables. Plenty of parking in the same gas station plaza. My son and I came here at 8:10pm and there were a few people seated and a lot of people trickling in and out which I liked. Some were to-go and some were dine-in. The staff was very friendly and accommodating and it was a nice family business owned vibe. We ordered for both dine-in and takeout for my husband. I got the special #p1 pho, my son #p7, and our takeout was for pork banh mi, beef banh mi, pork eggrolls, and shrimp spring rolls. I calculated my total and realized I was upcharged about over $3 which isn't a big deal but idk for what. Maybe the extra requests I made which is normally free at other pho establishments. Everything was really good and friendly and I enjoyed my visit. I would definitely come back if I were not willing to make the drive to the hood but wouldn't crave this place. I asked for chili oil and they gave a hefty amount which I love. I asked for the onions on the side along with "nuoc beo" which is the green onion whites in oil. They brought out diced green onions in oil lol which is fine but I figured because they don't get that request often. The broth was good on its own. My son and I tried it before putting ingredients in. However I noticed their hoisin sauce isn't like the normal pho spots it had a strong smell and was very sweet so that messed up my broth a bit. I also had to ask for fish sauce since they only had Knorr seasoning sauce out. Again, very understandable. My husband said the eggrolls and spring rolls were good and average like any other place. Now the banh mis. I know they tailor it towards Americans but dang it needed a lot of work! I initially asked if they had pate to add to their sandwiches and the waiter said no but I still proceeded to order 2; pork and beef. They were the lemongrass pork and beef that you eat with your bun (vermicelli noodles) dishes so as expected. But omg the bread was so hard and crumby like it was old since people don't order it often. It lacked flavor too such as pate, mayo, and seasoning sauce. I warmed it up the next day for leftovers and the bread got softer in the microwave making it easier to eat. read more

Who knew that Casa D'Oro/Spring Valley would have a few good Viet Places. Pho Minh & Grill is on the smaller side and in the corner of a strip mall, but they have the BEST pho in the area. It's a small restaurant so seating is a bit cozy, but totally worth it for the food. The broth was spot on and they had the freshest veggies to go along with it. What I wanted to address is the service experience. Most of the staff are very polite, but one of the female staff members has consistently been rude. I'm only sharing this to help improve your customer experience.The food itself is amazing, and despite these issues, I would still return because of the quality. However, I've had multiple problems with my orders. On one occasion, the same staff member did not write down part of my order. When I asked if everything was inside the bag, she said yes, but when I got home, I discovered items were missing. More recently, my soup lid was not properly closed, causing it to spill, and my order was incorrect again. Royal mandarin who????? This mom and pop shop is located in spring valley. The food is made fresh to order unlike places like royal mandarin and golden shop sticks that cook in bulk buffet style. I got the fried rice $6 and the salt and pepper shrimp shell off $12. I called in my order and Tony was super helpful. By the time I drove to pick up my to go order it was ready. The inside is small and intimate. The food was so fresh and hot and flavorful. I would definitely recommend them over any other place for salt and pepper shrimp or chicken in the entire city! Very disappointed with my order today. When this restaurant first opened they put care into their product and it was delicious. I've increasingly noticed how their food appears and tastes fresh some days and other days like today NOT. Today the chicken wing crust was soggy yet the center meat part was dry when other days it's crispy and fresh, the shrimp fried rice was gummy and the chicken in the stir fry noodles was hard. You could clearly tell it was all old food just reheated. My family members were also complaining about the lack of freshness. I feel like I wasted my hard earned cash and I'm praying I do not get sick because it tasted like someone grabbed it from the frig and threw it in the microwave. Just smh. Have been passing by this place for over 10 years and finally decided to pop in. Cold night and was craving pho. First impression, place is small with maybe 2 dozen seats. There were 3 people in front of us. Waited around and finally someone from the back came, greeted and sat us. For appetizers we ended up ordering shrimp spring rolls, crispy tofu. My entree was Pho with rare steak and tripe and the fiancé had grilled shrimp Vermicelli noodles. And we both ordered Strawberry Green Tea with boba. The two that somewhat disappoint were the entrees. The noodles that came with the pho were a bit hard like it needed to be blanched a bit. I let it sit in the broth for a while before the consistency was to my liking. Oh and they forgot the tripe. I should've mentioned it but I thought I made the mistake of ordering without it. Also the side herbs were slim. On the Vermicelli grilled shrimp, I wish there were more of the toppings: lettuce, cucumbers, etc. I felt the amount of noodles overwhelmed the dish. The fish sauce dressing for the noodles was the delish tho. So not bad, just ok. But the rest of the food was pretty good. Loved the peanut sauce that came with the shrimp spring rolls, the crispy tofu was crispy on the outside and soft melt in your mouth in the inside.
