I've ordered from here before, but usually just stick to the pad thai which, for the record, is delicious. This time I branched out and tried the Thai sausage fried rice and the fresh spring rolls for a takeout dinner, and I am so glad I did. They were absolutely right when they said my tummy would be happy. The experience started with a phone call to place my order, and the person who took it was immediately warm and friendly. When I came in to pick everything up, the ladies behind the counter were genuinely enthusiastic, not in a performative way, but in the way that people are when they're truly proud of what they're serving. They guaranteed I'd love it, and they delivered on that promise completely. It's rare to walk into a place and feel that kind of energy -- a team that's happy to be there and happy to feed you. That warmth is just as much a reason to come back as the food itself. And I will absolutely be coming back to keep working my way through the menu. read more

My boyfriend and I were on a long drive and stopped at the first restaurant that popped up on Maps--and I still can't believe how lucky we got. From the moment we walked in, we knew it was going to be good; it felt like everyone there was a regular. The service was wonderful, with friendly faces all around, and the food was truly exceptional. I ordered the Khao Soi (I'd never had it before, but I saw curry and pickles on the menu and thought, "Yup!"), and it absolutely blew my mind--hands down one of the best curry dishes I've ever had. My boyfriend got the Spicy Noodles, and they were just as amazing. He had to force himself stop eating so he could enjoy the rest for his lunch the next day, haha. We finished with mango sticky rice, and unsurprisingly, it was incredible. You can't really go wrong with mango sticky rice in general, but this was warm, sweet, and fragrant. Was in the area and craving some pad see ew so I stopped by here after seeing they had good reviews! I ordered a chicken pad see ew with a medium spice (5). The wait time was about 10-15 minutes which is typical. I saw a sign that that says if you follow them on instagram or fb they will give you a free thai tea. Who am I to pass up a free drink?? Pad see ew: I thought the medium spice level was good! It had a good kick but wasn't overbearingly spicy. I wished the noodles had a bit more of a char. I'm used to pad see ew only being chinese broccoli so I was surprised to see regular broccoli in there as well. Thai tea: It does tastes like they make it from actual tea leaves or maybe a really good powder? But it was incredibly sweet, I had to add water to make it less sweet. Finally gave this place a try. We were a bit tired today from work, and ordered to go. First impression, it would be a nice date night spot. The lighting is dim and great low ambient music. The ladies who helped us were so sweet and were disappointed I was not Thai. She said I looked Thai and just wanted to start speaking Thai to me...I told her I will learn some phrases for when we come back next time. She did teach me "Sawatdee Ka" which the fiancé happened to let me know it means "hello". Anyways we ordered, Larb Chicken, Crab Lover, Green Curry with Chicken and Pad See Ew with combo meat (chicken, beef & shrimp). Cannot find any flaw. 5 star all around. My favorite Thai restaurant! I love that this place is so close to my house, definitely mine and my husband's go to spot. We ordered: Pad Thai - My husband's go to! He gets this 6/10 in spice level & it's super spicy lool so I think next time 5 would be best so we can enjoy it more. Portion size and quality is amazing. Pad See Ew - My go to! So bomb. Crab Rangoons - Came out super quick, not too greasy and the dipping sauce was delicious. Green Milk Tea - Not overly sweet at all Overall - I love the ladies that work here, they're super sweet! I always love coming here! Thailand is a place I desire to see one day and hope I do! Walking in the door, the decor makes me feel like I am already in Thailand! Very beautiful decor and so relaxing and calming. The music is super calming for the mood. The food is authentic and delicious. I ordered off of the lunch menu and had the perfect portion size of food. I decided to start out with a Thai Iced Tea which was sweet and refreshing. Then I ordered an appetizer of vegetable spring rolls which were crispy and flavorful. The sweet sauce for dipping the rolls was out of the world spectacular! For my lunch entree, I ordered shrimp with green curry sauce with white rice which was spicy but perfectly tasty. This is a jewel of a place. We've been there multiple times and have never been disappointed in the quality of food, the service. I believe this has to largely run by family. The people who work thereclearly care about their customers and are proud of the food they prepare. 0 star review - First and foremost absolutely disgusted with the way these people do customer service. I ordered through the DoorDash app and placed an order for SHRIMP spring rolls. Through the app you can select an option to do shrimp spring rolls for +2 dollars more. I selected the option on door dash and walked over to pick my order. I arrived and inform the lady that I was early for pick up and will be waiting in store until it's ready. I spent 20 mins waiting for my spring rolls to be made. I got my order, walked back to my work and once I opened the order I saw that the spring rolls were NOT shrimp they were tofu. I walked back to this place and informed the lady I am allergic to tofu and this wasn't the order I placed. I showed her with my phone that the order placed was for shrimp spring rolls to which she kept replying, "it's 2 dollars more..." and refused to remake my order for what I actually ordered. I first came to know Phra Ram 9 [I am most definitely NOT a fan of the cumbersome name] when I visited a sushi restaurant located in the same shopping plaza in Rancho San Diego. Like many Thai restaurants, they have always done a lot of take out, both prior to, and during coronavirus. The issue with take out for those of who wish to dine in at the restaurant, is that there is a constant stream of people walking from the front of the dining room to the rear to place their orders, often calling out in a loud voice as they enter, something to the effect "Amber, picking up two Pad Thais and steamed rice". If you hear something like that twenty times during your meal, it is a kind of interruption of mood. I know Phra Ram cannot help how its interior is laid out, but at other Thai restaurants like Signature Thai in La Mesa or Chi Extraordinary Cuisine in North Park, all of the take out orders are processed in the reception area at the entrance, eliminating the barrage of people picking up to- go orders marching through the dining room. I have visited Phra Ram on maybe three or four prior occasions, and my most recent visit was Friday. I had a feeling I would encounter people waiting for or placing to-go orders, and sure enough that was the case. When I entered the restaurant, I observed one man placing a to-go order and a woman was waiting behind him to place her order. Only one table was occupied in the dining room with two women. No servers, hostesses or dining room staff were present---only the woman in the white blouse behind the counter handling the to-go orders. Because I was intending to dine in, I did not want to wait in an unrelated line behind two people giving to-go orders just to announce my presence, so I waited until the woman briefly broke in her conversation with the man and I went around the side of the counter just to let her know I would be taking a seat in the dining room. She looked at me and hollered "Wait your turn!" "We will seat you at that time!". Needless to say, I was shocked at her unwarranted outburst, in particular at a Thai restaurant, where the staff is almost always exquisitely polite. In response, I just walked back into the dining room [rolling my eyes] and took a seat. Happily, almost immediately after taking a seat, Mylie was there with smiles, bringing me the menu. I told her "that woman in the white blouse behind the counter was mean to me!. I was also attended to at the table by Chol, who was equally polite and pleasant. As for food, I can recommend the Thai Hot Basil chicken or the Beef with Vegetables in a Ginger Sauce. Brown rice is available. While other Thai restaurants beautifully decorate their food with Thai orchids [Signature Thai La Mesa], Phra Ram does not. Nonetheless, the plating of the food is inviting. When I left the restaurant after dinner, Mylie and Chol cheerfully bid me goodbye, while the woman in the white blouse behind the counter only glared in disgust. read more

It's a cute little shop. Hard to find in the plaza but glad we did. The servers are always so nice and enthusiastic! I almost always get the tom yum soup with seafood, which can be a tad over cooked some days, and the papaya salad, both with spice level 3-5. First time trying this thai restaurant in east county. Ambiance is definitely on point. Of course I had to get the chicken panang curry while my friend got the shrimp pad thai. Food came fairly quickly, probably about 10 minutes after ordering. Presentation of the food was really pretty. Chicken panang curry was good. It had the perfect amount of sweetness along with the mild heat. My friend liked his pad thai and pretty much finished it minus the garnish. The servers here are all really nice and welcoming.
